    The Nikon SB-900, SB-700 or SU-800 Wireless Commander canbe used to control other SB-900, SB-700, SB-600 and SB-R200Speedlight units wirelessly. Connected to any i-TTL compatiblecameras Hotshoe, the SB-900 or SB-700 (or SU-800 WirelessCommander) functions as a Master Flash Unit.

    Setting the SB-900 as a Master Speedlight UnitSet the SB-900 to the Master mode by using theOff/On/Remote/Master setting switch.1. Turn theOff/On/Remote/Master switch while

    holding down the button in the center.2. Align the index on theOff/On/Remote/Master

    setting switch toMASTER.

    Setting the ash mode, ash output level compensation values,and channel number on the master ash unit1. Press the Function button 1 on the Master

    ash unit to highlight M.2. Press theMODEbutton, then turn the selector

    dial to choose the desired ash mode, and press theOKbutton.TTL Through the lens meteringA Auto ApertureM Manual

    - - - No light output (although in M - - -a pre ash will occur)

    3. Press the Function button 2, then turn the selector dial tochoose the desired ash output level compensation value,and press theOKbutton.

    4. Press the Function button 1 to highlight Group A.Turn the selector dial to choose a group other than A.

    5. Repeat procedures 2, 3 above to set the ash mode and ash output levelcompensation values of the remote ash units in Group A.

    6. In the same way as with Group A, set the ash mode and ash output levelcompensation values of the remote ash unit in Group B.

    Note: After setting the output compensation value pressOK twice to reveal Ch above Function button 2.

    7. Press the Function button 2, then turn the selector dial to set a channelnumber, and press theOK button.

    Setting the SB-700 as a Master Speedlight UnitSet the SB-700 to the Master mode by using theOff/On/Remote/Master wireless setting switch.

    1. Turn theOff/On/Remote/Master switch whileholding down the button in the center.

    2. Align the index of theOff/On/Remote/Master setting switch toMASTER.

    Setting the ash mode, ash output level compensation values, and channelnumber on the Master ash unit.

    1. Set the mode selector to[TTL].2. Press the[SEL]button to select theMaster (M) ash unit

    choose a ash compensation value with the selector dial,and then press the[OK]button.

    Rotating the Selector Dial allows for ash compensation settingsfrom +3 EV to -3 EV or --- (No light output (although in M - - - a pre- ash will occur)

    3. Press the[SEL]button until theRemote Group A orRemote Group B ash unit is highlighted, then choosea ash compensation value with the selector dial,and then press the[OK]button.

    4. After setting the output compensation value of the masterand Remote Groups, press[SEL]to highlight theChand set the Channel that you would like to use byrotating the Selector Dial (Channels 1-4) and then press the[OK]button

    The Nikon SB-900, SB-700, SB-600 andSB-R200 Speedlights can be set as Remote

    units and can be triggered by using anon-camera SB-900 or SB-700 set in MasterMode, directly from the built-in ash onthe D700, D300, D300S, D7000, D90 orusing the SU-800 Wireless Commander.

    Setting the SB-900 as a Wireless Remote UnitYou can set the SB-900 for remote operation using theOff/On/Remote/Master setting switch.1. Turn the switch while holding down the button in the center.2. Align the index on theOff/On/Remote/Master switch

    to REMOTE.Setting a group and channel number on the remote ash units1. Press the Function button 1, then turn the selector dial to choose

    a desired group name, and press theOK button.Group name and channel number being set appears larger.For remote ash units where the ash mode and ash output levelcompensation values are to be set identically, place these ash unitsinto the same group.

    2. Press the Function button 2, then turn the selector dial tochoose a desired channel number, and press theOKbutton.

    Be sure to choose the same channel number as set on theMaster ash unit or in the Commander mode on your camera.

    Setting the SB-700 as a Wireless Remote UnitYou can set the SB-700 for Remote operation using theOff/On/Remote/Master setting switch.1. Turn theOff/On/Remote/Master switch while

    holding down the button in the center.2. Align the index on theOff/On/Remote/Master

    switch toREMOTE.Setting a Group and Channel number on the remote ash units[Setting group A and channel 1 (example)]1. Press the[SEL]button to highlight the Group, choose A for group

    by rotating the Selector Dial, and then press the[OK]button.2. Press the[SEL]button to highlight the Channel, choose 1 for

    Setting the SB-700 to Quick Wireless Master ModeThe ash output level ratios of two remote ash unit Groups (A and B)can be easily balanced in quick wireless control mode.The master ash unit does not re in quick wireless control mode.Set theOff/On/Remote/Master switch for multiple ash units to[MASTER], and set theMode Selector to [A:B].Setting the Master ash unit for ash output level ratios, ashcompensation value and channel.[Setting ash output level ratio of 1: 2 andchannel 1 (example)]

    1. Press the[SEL]button to highlight the ash output level ratioof Remote ash unit groups A and B.

    2. Set the ash output level ratio to 1:2 with theSelector Dial and press the[OK]button. The ash output level ratio can be set within a range of 8:1 1:8 The ash function in one of the remote ash unit groups A and B can be cancelled Set the ash compensation value if necessary

    3. Press the[SEL] button to highlight the Channel, choose CH 1 withthe Selector Dial , and then press the[OK]button.

    Setting the SB-700 for Quick Wireless Remote ModeRemote ash unit setting (group, channel and zoom head position)Set theOff/On/Remote/Master switch for multiple ash unitsto [REMOTE].

    [Setting group A and channel 1 (example)]1. Press the[SEL]button to highlight the Group, choose A

    for Group with theSelector Dial , and then press the[OK]button.

    Set the GroupA or B.(Group C can not be used in Quick Wireless Mode) The selected channel number and group indicator

    appear larger on the LCD2. Press the[SEL]button to highlight the Channel, choose 1 for

    Channel number with theSelector Dial , and then press the[OK]button. Be sure to choose the same channel number as set on the master ash unit

    3. Press the[ZOOM]button to highlight the zoom head position,

    choose a zoom head position with theSelector Dial , and then press the[OK]button.4. Con rm the ash-ready indicator is on, and then shoot.

    Setting the SB-600 to Wireless Remote Mode1. With the unit on, press and hold theZOOMand the

    together for two seconds.2. Press either theZOOMor MODEbutton to select wireless

    modeON/OFF.3. PressON/OFFfor one second. The ash will be set in

    the Wireless Remote mode. (Default: CH 3, Group A)4. PressMODEto highlight the channel (1, 2, 3 or 4) and

    use +/ to select the same channel as the Master Flash.5. PressMODEagain and choose a group (A, B or C).

    The amount of output compensation set for that groupon the Master Flash will determine the amount of outputfrom the Remote Speedlight.

    Be sure to choose the same channel number as set onthe Master ash unit or in the Commander mode on your camera.

    To exit Wireless and return to Normal TTL operation

    To reset the SB-600 unit to normal TTL operation, reverse the steps above or holdON/OFFand MODEbutton for two seconds. To exit remote operation of the SB-900 or SB-700 simplturn the ON-OFF switch/wireless settings to the ON position.

    To set theSB-R200 RemoteSpeedlight to the desiredGroup and Channel, simplyrotate the dial for thatfunction.

    NIKONS ExCLUSIvE BUILT-INI-TTL LASH SYSTEM WITHWIRELESS CAPABILITIES WITHTHE D700, D300, D300S, D7000,AND D90 DIGITAL SLRS

    1. The Wireless Flash Commander mode option can be selectedwithin the Custom Settings menu under the built-in ashoption of the D700, D300, D300S, D7000, and D90 cameras.D700 Custom Setting: e3D300 Custom Setting: e3D300S Custom Setting: e3D7000 Custom Setting: e3D90 Custom Setting: e2

    2. When you enter the Commander mode, the built-in ash,Group A and Group B are all activated and set to TTLwith zero exposure compensation. In this scenario, thebuilt-in ash will send a pre- ash signal for the remoteunits to re, as well as trigger the remote Speedlights andfactor into the lighting scheme and nal exposure.

    3. Flash compensation can be adjusted for Groups A and B, aswell as the built-in ash. Press the cameras Multi-selectorright or left to move into the Mode or Compensation windowsfor the built-in ash and both Groups. Use the up and downarrows with the Multi-selector to set the desired values.

    4. The built-in ash, as well as the A and B Groups, can be set tore and be factored into the exposure, or turned off individually,

    based on your lighting requirements. Toggle the Multi-selectorto the right to enter the Mode window for the item you wouldlike to turn off. Toggle the Multi-selector down until you seethe dashed lines. This means that the built-in ash or selectedSpeedlight will NOT re.**Note: Although you may turn off the built-in ash from beingcalculated into the exposure, the built-in ash unit must stay inthe up position, as it will still send the pre- ash signal to controlthe remote units.

    Once you have set the Commander mode as desired,

    be sure that the channel you have selected matchesthe channel set on the remote units. Also, be sure to pressthe OK button to confrm and set the Commander mode.Note: Wireless Flash Commander Mode works in onlyP, S, A orMand isnot available in Scene Modes. The D70/D70s Commandermode operation communicates only inChannel 3/Group A .

    lash SynchronizationA means by which a Speedlight is red at precisely themoment when the cameras shutter is at its peak opening.Also referred to as ash sync.

    ront Curtain SyncAlso referred to as Normal sync, the ash resimmediately after the front curtain opens completely.
