  • Computer Systems: Laptops, WIFI Connectivity Problem

    STLCC-CPLS:Morrison 6/3/2015 Page 22

Sometimes the wireless card in a laptop doesn’t connect to the

wireless network correctly – if you hover over the wireless icon

in the system tray (bottom right) it should say connected to

STLCC-acad. If this is not the case

Hold down the Fn key and hit F2 once to turn off the wireless

card, wait a few seconds, then once more to turn it back on. It

    should now connect to STLCC-acad.

Acquired for use with the Artel

The specially designed hardware and firmware are optimized for exceptional

PDF417 performance in all types of scanning applications. PDF417 reading is

accomplished by sweeping the scanner up or down over the code, quickly

gathering, decoding, and outputting the data to the host system. The scanner

ticks while collecting data, providing instant user feedback on performance. All

symbologies are automatically discriminated with no reduction in decoding

    speed.

    Open Outlook.

Compose your "cover sheet" information in the body of the e-mail.

Add an attachment. The attached file will be the "faxed document."

NOTE: Currently supported attachments are: .xls, .xlsx, .wri, .doc, .docx, .pdf

and txt. To request another document type be supported, please send an e-mail to

    [email protected]

In the TO: field of the message, you will type the fax number then @fax.stlcc.edu.

To send to college numbers or local St. Louis exchanges, type in the seven-digit fax

number. (Four digit dialing for the college does not work for faxing.)

    Example: [email protected]

To send to non-local exchanges, type in 1+ the 10-digit fax number (including area code). A long

distance code is not required for faxes at this time.

    Example: [email protected]

To send to 636 numbers that do not require a 1, type in the 10-digit fax number (including the

    area code).

    Example: [email protected]

    Click Send.

    mailto:[email protected]:[email protected]

  • Computer Systems: Receive Fax at Desktop ,Phone Shoretel,

    STLCC-CPLS:Morrison 6/3/2015 Page 29

You must have a ShoreTel phone to receive a fax.

Give your telephone number as your fax number to the person sending the fax.

Example: If your phone number is 513-1234, have the fax sent to that number. The telephone

system knows what to do with the call.

Be sure to give them the entire seven-digit number.

If you are expecting a fax, let the call go straight to voicemail.

However, if you do answer the phone, you will hear one to two beeps if it is an incoming fax. Do

not hang up on the call. Let the ShoreTel system disconnect

    the call.

The incoming fax will show up in your e-mail inbox. You can forward or file the document like

    any other e-mail.

The fax itself will be a PDF attachment to the e-mail. The fax will also appear in the body of the

e-mail (up to five pages) for searching capability within Outlook.

  • Computer: Saving

    Files issues,Win 7,

    from BB 11/21/12

    STLCC-CPLS:Morrison 6/3/2015 Page 30

Hey, so have been fighting with my computer since the new install when I am saving files, and Rick Moeller just shares a little tip with me…thought I would share because while the fix is super silly simple, it works! When I would try and save a document, and this mostly seems to be happening with PDFs that I had edited (expense report, time keeping, etc). Apparently some softwares have an issue with this. When I would go to “save as” and save the document as something else, I would get

And would be unable to save the document in that same folder…in fact, I usually had to save it somewhere completely different, like the desktop, etc. Well, the fix is this…if you have gone in to the document via YOUR DOCUMENTS folder, some softwares are going to give you this message. The fix? Easy, …when you are saving, back out and go into the exact same folder via the P drive, and you will have NO PROBLEM at all! Hope this helps if you are having the same problem! Have a happy TURKEY day! GOBBLE GOBBLE!

    STLCC-CPLS:Morrison 6/3/2015 Page 43

Per the IKON technician, the College has required that all the printers be set to double-sided copies. To make a single-sided copy you must manually un-select the double-sided option on the printer. If you are printing from your computer, you must turn off the “duplex” option before you print. Also, I know some of you wanted to have copies staple when you print from your computer. You must turn that option ON before you print. If you are printing a word document, you will do the following: From a Word document, go to: >File

    >Print

    >Printer Properties

    To print single-sided:

    >Click the drop arrow on Duplex and select “Off” To staple:

    >Click the Staple drop arrow and select the location you want for your staple
