RITE OF WELCOMING Kristie Gagnon and Mark Hausser have signaled their intention to contin-ue on the journey that ultimately leads to full communion with us in the Cath-

olic Church. The Rite of Welcoming on Sunday No-vember 24 commemorates this important step for Kristie and Mark. Both Kristie (United Church of Christ) and Mark (Lutheran) come to us from other faith traditions and are seeking the Sacraments of Eucharist and Confirmation as they journey toward becoming in full communion with the Catholic Church. The Rite of Welcoming signals the transition from the inquiry to the catechumenate phase for our candi-dates. Kristie and Mark will be exposed to a series of topics that collectively help define what it means to be Christian in general and a member of the Cath-olic faith tradition in particular until the start of Lent. Although there is an instructional element to the cat-echumenate sessions, RCIA is still very much about a conversion of the heart for our candidates as they seek full communion into the Catholic faith. Each candidate also has a sponsor who will walk with him/her on this part of their life’s faith journey. Please pray for Kristie and Mark as they continue with their spiritual formation.

“St. Luke’s donates 10% of its weekly collection through Sharing First . We donate to others be-fore attending to our own wants. Sharing First is unique not only because there is one

collection each week, but that we help the needy first. Please adjust your donation to include both Sharing First and St. Luke’s. Thank you for your generous support.

THE SPIRIT OF THE SEASON Throughout the year St Luke's Outreach provides a wealth of assistance and support to those in need. Howev-er, if you walk into the Parish Center on any day in Nov or Dec, you can feel a "buzz" in the air. It takes a dedicated staff and an army of volunteers to put together all the pieces that make up the Interfaith Thanksgiv-ing Program and Giving Tree. It is because of your generosity and their hard work that St Luke's is able to give so much joy to those in need. It is the spirit of love that this season is all about.

FEAST OF OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST, KING OF THE UNIVERSE “….giving thanks to the Father, who has made you fit to share in the inheritance of the holy ones in

light.” (Colossians 1:12) God wants us to be happy! Instead of looking at the Ten Commandments as being restrictive and telling us what we can’t do, look at them as guides for living a joy-filled and peaceful life. Most of our problems arise when we put our own needs first or spend most of our time trying to acquire

“things.” Instead, try putting God first in all things. Ask Him how He wants you to use your gifts.

CAN YOU AND YOUR FAMILY ACT AS AN ELF FOR US?

We have several opportunities for elf ser-vice here at the parish! We would like to offer residents at Westborough Health Care who do not receive much at Christ-mas time, an opportunity for a visit from a

parent/child duo or family, who would act as “elves” and pick out a gift for them from Walmart. You would visit your resident and then use a Walmart card that we provide to buy an item that they might like. Once you purchase the gift, we would ask that you wrap it and deliver it prior to Christmas with a homemade card (and maybe cookies?) This is a wonderful opportunity for children to par-ticipate with you in a meaningful way, and it will make a difference for each of those visited! We are limited to fifteen elves so call soon – Julie Basque, pastoral associate at 508-355-8509, ext 4. Thank you!

ON BEHALF OF THE TOWN OF WESTBOROUGH,

VETERANS' ADVISORY BOARD.

We the members would like to express a profound "Thank You" to Msgr Mike, Fr. Joe, Ms. Gloria, Youth Minister Students, Parishioners, Rotary Committee, mem-bers, late arrivals, for helping to retrieved the veterans flags at the cemetery, on a cold blustery morning, Sat., November 16, 2019. We salute you all! Veterans' Advisory Board Members

GIVING TREE Thank you all for being part of our wonderful Interfaith Giving Tree Program! If you have-n't yet taken a tag, please help us provide a happy Christmas for those in Westborough who need a little help. Please take the tags off the trees, FILL IN AND LEAVE THE LEFT HALF FOR US, and have your gifts wrapped, labeled with the right half of the

tag, and in to us on Sunday, December 8th.
