This weekend we once again begin our monthly “Family Mass” — where we especially try to gear everything for the active participation of the children who come. It also offers us an opportunity to reflect on the importance of Sunday Mass. A question often asked is “Why Sunday?”, if the Commandment says to keep holy the sabbath (which is Saturday)? The first Christian communities, who believed that Jesus is present in the Eucharist in his resurrected body, soon began to realize that the most important day for the Christian Community was the first day of the week, the day Jesus rose from the dead, Sunday. It became the day for the community of believers in Jesus to come together, pray, listen to scripture and “break bread” together — that is to celebrate the Mass. Sunday, for the Christians, was the day made holy by the Resurrection of Jesus and so the day to spend honoring the Lord. It was the day “the Lord made”! — a day to rejoice and be glad! In that Eucharistic celebration there were a number of elements which the community understood and reverenced. First, the leader of the Community recalled and used the words of Jesus at the Last Supper: “Do this in remembrance of me”! That word “remembrance” has special significance — especially for the apostles and the first Christians who were mainly converts from Judaism. “Remembrance” does not only mean to remember something that happened in the past. No! it means to make present now, what happened in the past! The same thing that happened then is happening now just in a different time and in a different place and circumstance. Still, it is present now. Jesus said: eat, this is my Body; drink, this is my Blood — it means, just as it was His Body and Blood then, it is his Body and Blood now! Not only, but the action of Jesus referred to the separation of his body and blood on the Cross. This means that every single time we celebrate Holy Mass, we celebrate the Sacrifice of Calvary; it is not like Calvary; it is Calvary! The priest is the same: Jesus. He is offering the victim to the Father. The victim is the same: Jesus! He is being offered to the Father in atonement for our sins. The Mass is the same sacrifice as Calvary, but only in an unbloody manner. Every time we go to Mass, we are approaching Calvary!! A question: Are we with John and Mary at the foot of the Cross or are we indifferent bystanders? Second, the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass is also a banquet! As a family of believers, we come around the Altar, the table of the Lord, and eat the same food: The Body and Blood of Christ! Jesus’ Blood truly flows in our veins!! This is the great Christian Banquet, our Sunday meal together!! Third, all of this brings us to the realization of how important Sunday is for a Christian. It is a day made holy by the Resurrection of Jesus. It is a day when we are called to go to Calvary and, as a family come around the table of the Lord to eat His Body and drink His Blood. It is a day to worship and thank God for all He gives to us during the week. Can we give God a full hour once a week without coming to Mass late or leaving Mass early? Can we come together as a family to eat our “sacred meal” around the table of the Lord? Can we take Sunday as a family spending time together and enjoying the most precious gift we have: one another? The “Lord’s Day” is a corner stone to maintain our family and Catholic life. It is time for us to take it back!! The less time families give to spending Sundays together, the more disintegrated the family is becoming. The more we have made Sunday a “free day” to do what we want, the more we find families in crisis and individual members especially the young and the old, feeling isolated, unloved, and confused. As we celebrate the “Family Mass” today, it is a chance to re-connect to make Sunday “Family Day” and not just “another” day in the week! God bless you!

From the Desk of Fr. Pat Este fin de semana comenzamos una vez más nuestra "Misa Familiar" mensual, donde tratamos especialmente de preparar todo para la participación activa de los niños que vienen. También nos ofrece la oportunidad de reflexionar sobre la importancia de la Misa Dominical. Una pregunta que se hace a menudo es "¿Por qué el domingo?", si el mandamiento dice que se santifique el día de reposo (que es el sábado)? Las primeras comunidades cristianas, que creían que Jesús está presente en la Eucaristía en su cuerpo resucitado, pronto comenzaron a darse cuenta de que el día más importante para la Comunidad Cristiana fue el primer día de la semana, el día en que Jesús resucitó de entre los muertos, el domingo. Se convirtió en el día para que la Comunidad de creyentes en Jesús se reuniera, orara, escuchara las Escrituras y "rompiera el pan" juntos, es decir, celebrar la Misa. El domingo, para los cristianos, fue el día santificado por la resurrección de Jesús y así el día para honrar al Señor. ¡Fue el día en que "hizo el Señor"! — ¡Un día para regocijarse y alegrarse! En esa celebración eucarística hubo una serie de elementos que la Comunidad entendió y venero. En primer lugar, el líder de la Comunidad recordó y usó las palabras de Jesús en la última cena: "¡Haz esto en memoria de mí"! Esa palabra "memoria" tiene un significado especial, especialmente para los apóstoles y los primeros cristianos que fueron principalmente conversos del judaísmo. "Recuerdo" no sólo significa recordar algo que sucedió en el pasado. ¡No! significa hacerlo presente ahora, lo que sucedió en el pasado! Lo mismo que sucedió entonces está sucediendo ahora en un momento diferente y en un lugar y circunstancia diferente. Aún así, está presente ahora. Jesús dijo: ¡come, este es mi Cuerpo; bebe, esta es mi Sangre— significa, así como era Su Cuerpo y Sangre entonces, ¡ahora es su Cuerpo y Sangre! No sólo, sino que la acción de Jesús se refirió a la separación de su cuerpo y sangre en la Cruz. Esto significa que cada vez que celebramos la Santa Misa, celebramos el Sacrificio del Calvario; no es como el Calvario; es el Calvario! El sacerdote es el mismo: Jesús. Está ofreciendo la víctima al Padre. La víctima es la misma: ¡Jesús! Se le está ofreciendo al Padre en expiación por nuestros pecados. La Misa es el mismo sacrificio que el Calvario, pero sólo de una manera sin sangre. Cada vez que vamos a misa, nos acercamos al Calvario!! Una pregunta: ¿Estamos con Juan y María al pie de la Cruz o somos transeúntes indiferentes? Segundo, ¡el Santo Sacrificio de la Misa es también un banquete! Como familia de creyentes, venimos alrededor del Altar, la mesa del Señor, y comemos la misma comida: ¡El Cuerpo y la Sangre de Cristo! ¡La sangre de Jesús realmente fluye por nuestras venas! Este es el gran banquete cristiano, nuestra comida dominical juntos!! En tercer lugar, todo esto nos lleva a la comprensión de lo importante que es el domingo para un cristiano. Es un día santificado por la resurrección de Jesús. Es un día en que estamos llamados a ir al Calvario y, como familia, vienen alrededor de la mesa del Señor para comer Su Cuerpo y beber Su Sangre. Es un día para adorar y dar gracias a Dios por todo lo que nos da durante la semana. ¿Podemos darle a Dios una hora completa una vez a la semana sin llegar tarde a misa o salir temprano de la misa? ¿Podemos reunirnos como familia para comer nuestra "comida sagrada" alrededor de la mesa del Señor? ¿Podemos tomar el domingo como familia pasando tiempo juntos y disfrutando del regalo más preciado que tenemos: el uno al otro? El "Día del Señor" es una piedra angular para mantener nuestra vida familiar y católica. Es hora de que lo tomemos de vuelta!! Cuanto menos tiempo den las familias a pasar los domingos juntos, más desintegrada se está volviendo la familia. Cuanto más hemos hecho del domingo un "día libre" para hacer lo que queremos, más encontramos familias en crisis y miembros individuales, especialmente los jóvenes y los ancianos, sintiéndose aislados, poco queridos y confundidos. Al celebrar la "Misa Familiar" hoy, es una oportunidad para volver a conectarse para hacer el domingo "Día de la Familia" y no sólo "otro" día de la semana! ¡Que Dios te bendiga!

Informacje od proboszcza Nesse fim de semana no retomamos a “Missa da Familia” realizada mensalmente, em vista de engajar as crianças e motivá-las a vir a missa. Aí se tem oportunidade de refletir sobre a importância da missa dominical. A questão e “Porque Domingo?” As primeiras comunidades cristas celebravam o dia do Senhor no primeiro dia da semana por ser o dia da Ressurreição de Jesus. O domingo se tornou o dia para os cristãos se reunirem em comunidade para rezar, ouvir a palavra de Deus e “partilhar o pão” na celebração da Eucaristia. O domingo se tornou um dia santo por ser o dia da Ressurreição de Jesus, por isso um dia de alegria e de celebração. Na celebração da eucaristia havia muitos elementos que as comunidades entendiam e reverenciavam. Primeiro, o líder da comunidade usava as palavras que Jesus usou na última Ceia. “Fazei isso em memória de mim”! A palavra “memória” tinha um significado especial para os apóstolos e para os primeiros cristãos recém convertidos do judaísmo. “Memoria” não se referia apenas a relembrar algo que aconteceu no passado. Ela significava repetir agora no presente momento aquilo que aconteceu no passado. A mesma coisa que aconteceu no passado se repete agora, num tempo, lugar e circunstâncias diferentes. O padre também usa as mesmas palavras de Jesus que disse: “Comei, isso e o meu corpo, bebei isso e o meu sangue que é derramado por vos.” Jesus se referia também ao que ele já sabia que ia acontecer na cruz. Cada vez que celebramos a Eucaristia nos recordamos também o Sacrifício da Calvário. O padre representa o próprio Jesus que se oferece como vítima ao Pai. Jesus e a vítima que é oferecida ao Pai em remissão pelos nossos pecados. A missa e o sacrifício do calvário sem derramamento de sangue. Um questionamento: O nosso comportamento e como o de Joao e Maria ao pé da cruz ou estamos aí sem saber bem o que estamos fazendo? Segundo: O santo sacrifício da missa e um banquete. Especialmente na missa dominical todos nós somos convidados a sentar à mesa do Senhor para nos alimentarmos o seu corpo e sangue. A missa dominical e o maior banquete da semana! Terceiro: tudo isso nos faz ver a importância do domingo para nós cristãos. Ele e o dia da familia se reunir para participar do banquete do Senhor. E dia de rezar e agradecer a Deus pelas bençãos que recebemos durante a semana. Nos dedicamos uma hora inteira para participar da missa ou chegamos atrasados a Igreja? Somos capazes de ir à missa com toda a nossa familia? O dia do Senhor e a base que sustenta a nossa familia como uma familia católica. E tempo de recuperar esses valores. Quanto menos nos reunimos a nossa familia mais desintegrada ela fica. Quanto mais nos afastamos do missa dominical mais os filhos se tornam isolados, frios e confusos. Retomando hoje a ‘nossa missa da familia’ retomamos o esforço de fazer do domingo o dia da familia e não apenas mais um dia como os demais dias da semana. Que Deus te abençoe!

comiesięczną „Mszę Rodzinną” w której szczególnie staramy się o aktywne uczestnictwo dzieci, które są obecne. Jest to tez okazja do refleksji nad znaczeniem niedzielnej Mszy.

Często zadawane pytanie brzmi: „Dlaczego niedziela?” jeśli przykazanie mówi o przestrzeganiu szabatu (czyli soboty)? Pierwsze wspólnoty chrześcijańskie, które wierzyły, że Jezus jest obecny w Eucharystii w swoim zmartwychwstałym ciele, wkrótce zdały sobie sprawę z tego, że najważniejszym dniem dla wspólnoty chrześcijańskiej był pierwszy dzień tygodnia, dzień, w którym Jezus powstał z martwych, niedziela. Niedziela stała się dniem spotkania wspólnoty wierzących w Jezusa, wspólnej modlitwy, słuchania Pisma świętego i „łamania chleba” - to znaczy celebrowania Mszy. Niedziela dla chrześcijan była dniem świętym przez zmartwychwstanie Jezusa, dniem oddawania czci Panu. To był dzień „stworzony przez Pana”! - dzień radości! Podczas celebracji eucharystycznej wspólnota uświadamiała sobie wiele istotnych elementów.

Po pierwsze, celebrans przypominał i używał słów Jezusa z Ostatniej Wieczerzy: „Czyńcie to na moją pamiątkę”! Słowo „pamięć” ma szczególne znaczenie - szczególnie dla apostołów i pierwszych chrześcijan, którzy głównie nawrócili się z Judaizmu. „Pamięć” oznacza nie tylko zapamiętanie czegoś, co wydarzyło się w przeszłości. Nie! Oznacza uobecnienie teraz tego, co się wydarzyło w przeszłości! To samo, co się wtedy wydarzyło, dzieje się teraz tylko w innym czasie, w innym miejscu i okolicznościach. Mimo to jest teraz obecne. Jezus powiedział: Bierzcie i jedzcie, to jest Ciało moje; Bierzcie i pijcie, to jest Krew moja - to znaczy, że tak jak wtedy było to Jego Ciało i Krew, tak teraz jest to Jego Ciało i Krew! Oznacza to, że za każdym razem, gdy odprawiamy Mszę Świętą, odprawiamy Ofiarę Kalwarii. Kapłan jest ten sam: Jezus. Ofiara jest taka sama: Jezu! On ofiaruje się Ojcu w przebłaganiu za nasze grzechy. Msza jest tą samą ofiarą co Kalwaria, tylko że w sposób bezkrwawy. Za każdym razem, gdy idziemy na Mszę, idziemy na Kalwarię!! Pytanie: Czy jesteśmy tam z Janem i Maryją u stóp Krzyża, czy tylko jesteśmy obojętnymi obserwatorami?

Po drugie, Święta Ofiara Mszy jest także ucztą! Jako rodzina wierzących przychodzimy do ołtarza, stołu Pana i jemy to samo pożywienie: Ciało i Krew Chrystusa! Krew Jezusa naprawdę płynie w naszych żyłach !! To wspaniały chrześcijański bankiet, nasz niedzielny posiłek razem !!

Po trzecie, wszystko to uświadamia nam, jak ważna jest niedziela dla chrześcijan. To dzień święty przez zmartwychwstanie Jezusa. Jest to dzień, w którym jesteśmy wezwani, aby udać się na Kalwarię i wraz z rodziną usiąść wokół stołu Pana, aby spożywać Jego Ciało i Jego Krew. To dzień wielbienia Boga i dziękowania za wszystko, co nam dał w ciągu tygodnia. Czy nie możemy dać Bogu jednej godziny w tygodniu, nie spóźniając się na Mszę i nie wychodząc wcześniej? Czy możemy zjednoczyć się jako rodzina, aby zjeść nasz „święty posiłek” przy stole Pana, spędzającą czas razem i cieszącą się najcenniejszym prezentem, jaki mamy: sobie nawzajem?

„Dzień Pański” jest kamieniem węgielnym dla utrzymania naszej rodziny i życia katolickiego. Czas, abyśmy to docenili !! Im mniej czasu rodziny spędzają razem w niedziele, tym łatwiej rozpada się rodzina. Im bardziej uczyniliśmy niedzielę „dniem wolnym”, aby robić to, co chcemy, tym bardziej znajdujemy rodziny w kryzysie, a poszczególni członkowie czując się odizolowani, niekochani i zdezorientowani. Kiedy dzisiaj odprawiamy „Mszę rodzinną”, jest to okazja, aby ponownie połączyć się, aby niedziela stała się „Dniem Rodziny”, a nie tylko „kolejnym” dniem tygodnia!

Come and Spend Time with the Lord

In the Gospel today a miraculous healing takes place and we find another genuine expression of gratitude. When Jesus cures ten lepers, the sole

person to return and give thanks is a Samaritan, an outsider to the people of Israel. Luke point’s out that it is the foreigner who is open to Jesus and his message. The cured Samaritan

shows his adoration and overwhelming gratitude by coming to Jesus and prostrating himself, lying flat on the ground before him. The gratitude that the Samaritan shows is a true response

of faith. Not only is he cured but he is saved as well. Reflection for the week: Where do you find God’s blessings in the world? Do you remember to give thanks to God? God

Bless you! Let us pray. Thank you God for the beauty of creation. Thank

you God for all your gifts. In the name of Jesus Christ we pray. Amen

En el Evangelio de hoy tiene lugar una curación milagrosa y encontramos otra expresión genuina de gratitud. Cuando Jesús cura a diez leprosos, la única persona que regresa y da gracias es un samaritano, un extraño para el pueblo de Israel. Lucas

señala que es el extranjero quien está abierto a Jesús y su mensaje. El samaritano curado muestra su adoración y gratitud

abrumadora al acercarse a Jesús y postrarse, tendido en el suelo delante de él. La gratitud que muestra el samaritano es

una verdadera respuesta de fe. No solo se cura sino que también se salva. Reflexión para la semana: ¿Dónde

encuentras las bendiciones de Dios en el mundo? ¿Recuerdas dar gracias a Dios? ¡Dios te bendiga!

Oremos. Gracias a Dios por la belleza de la creación. Gracias a Dios por todos tus regalos. En el nombre de Jesucristo oramos.
