The Sammamish Symphony Orchestra performs on the Sammamish Plateau and
various location in the area. It is committed to offering quality music at affordable prices
for Eastside residents. This volunteer ensemble provides the opportunity for talented,
dedicated musicians to perform with a full symphony orchestra. In addition, the
Orchestra promotes involvement in the arts for young musicians who are given the
chance to participate in classical and pops concerts.
Now in its twenty-fifth season, the Sammamish Symphony began as the
Providence Point Players, and has grown in size and stature to become an integral part
of the Eastside artistic community. What started as a handful of musicians has evolved
into a dynamic musical organization. The Sammamish Symphony has performed
several times in Seattle’s Benayora Hall with several northwest choral groups.

***Concert Performer and Conductor***
Marcus Shelton, tenor has worked alongside some of the most influential figures in the
music industry having performed live with singer and songwriter Kenny "Babyface"
Ed monds, accompanied on stage by Music Industry legend David Foster.
Acclaim has come from a variety of sources for Mr. Shelton. This multi-talented singer,
actor, and entertainer consistently stuns audiences with his musicality, comedic timing,
athleticism, and reckless stage abandon.
Marcus has been featured with opera and concert companies around the world includ-
ing the Qatar Philharmonic Orchestra, Opera Theatre Rimouski, Greek National Opera,
Opera Oviedo, the White Nights Festival in St. Petersburg, Russia, and the Les Azuriales
Festival in Nice, France. Marcus is seen regularly around the Pacific Northwest with Seat-
tle Opera, Portland Opera, Opera Idaho, Tacoma Opera, Skagit Opera, Spokane Opera,
Spokane Symphony, and more. He is also a regular National Anthem performer for the
Seattle Mariners and the Seattle Seahawks.
ADAM STERN, Conductor of the Sammamish Symphony, is one of the region's busiest
musicians. Since arriving in Seattle in 1992. he has been active as a conductor,
composer, pianist, educator and lecturer. He has been leading the Seattle Philharmonic
Orchestra since 2003, during which tenure he has brought numerous world, U.S., West
Coast and Northwest premieres to the Puget Sound community. Stern’s unique
programming combines beloved masterworks with must-hear rarities; his programs are
not merely concerts, but true musical events.
Stern was born in Hollywood in 1955. He began his musical studies at age five as a piano
student, and began flute lessons two years later. At 15, Stern was accepted at California
Institute of the Arts, where he initially majored in flute performance, but changed his major
to conducting in his second year at the urging of the late Gerhard Samuel, a noted
conductor and educator. Stern was graduated in 1977 with an MFA in conducting at 21,
the youngest Masters degree recipient in CalArts’ history.
From 1996 until 2001, Stern was the Associate Conductor of the Seattle Symphony (after
having served as Assistant Conductor from 1992-96). He led numerous concerts in all of
the orchestra's series, including the orchestra's first performances of Vaughan Williams'
Symphony No. 3 and Elgar's Symphony No. 2. In addition, he led many "pops" concerts
and was the happy collaborator of such artists as James Taylor, Art Garfunkel, Judy
Collins and Frank Sinatra, Jr. Stern resides in Seattle with his wife, soprano Kamila Stern,
and his children Ella and Oscar.
