LPHS Visionary Campus Proposal

LPHS Visionary Campus ProposalLaSalle-Peru Township High School has a vision for the future -- a vision that will transform the high school’s historic campus and create amazing new 21st century learning opportunities for generations of Cavaliers.

This winter nearly 40 community volunteers, LP teachers, students, staff members, and administrators, worked with professionals from Kmetz Architects and Legat Architects to develop a Master Facility Plan that outlines future campus improvements and renovations. The LPHS Board of Education approved the proposal on March 18.

This visionary proposal maintains the best of LP’s historic architecture while still pushing the campus facilities in exciting new directions. The highlight of this concept includes building a new addition stretching from the southeast corner of the current building to provide new and expanded space for math, science, and career-technical education courses. The plan also calls for demolishing the east gym/Area Career Center building, which has become a costly nuisance as numerous maintenance and repair problems spring up each year, and to replace it with a new physical education and music addition attached to the west side of Sellett Gymnasium.

Even though the monster snow pile in the parking lot across from the Auditorium is still melting, spring is definitely in the air! With the later evening sunsets and warmer temperatures, this is a great time to renew and recharge from the winter doldrums. Fortunately for our families and district residents, LPHS will be a great place to recharge your batteries by spending your weekday afternoons and Saturdays attending many of our spring sports programs.

I would like to invite all of our students, parents, and community members to come out to as many LPHS sports events this spring as you can. The LP Sports Complex will be hosting numerous girls soccer, boys tennis, and boys and girls track and field events. Veterans Park will continue to be the home field for the boys baseball and girls softball programs. If you like to travel to other communities, then gather your family

and follow the Cavaliers on the road. I can tell you that our kids and coaches absolutely love to see Red and Green in the stands – both home and away.

You can find all our sports schedules on our website at: http://il.8to18.com/LaSallePeru. I look forward to seeing many of you this spring in the stands!

If you have any questions, feedback, or suggestions, please contact me at (815) 223-2373 or [email protected].

Sincerely,

Steven R. Wrobleski, Superintendent
