It seems the only weekend members have time off, so it’s off to Spengers Restaurant in Berkley. They’re known for their great sea food. The North-South Committee is working hard to make this year’s run one you won’t forget. I understand the folk’s in Morro Bay are bending over backwards to help make our show a success. They seem to want the F-100’s to come to town. Plan now to make the trip to the North-South Run in August. We hope to see you at this fine run. In 1956 you could order the factory automatic tranny for your F-100. At the time the stick was more popular, especially for a work truck. Hi from East Bay,

Not much going on this month in the East Bay Chapter. I am sure our F-100’s are getting the attention they need, even in the winter. February 8th is the date for our chapter’s Christmas get together for a dinner. I have the automatic transmission in my truck, and it works just fine. It was rebuilt in 1998. I don’t see too many F-100’s running this stock option. The simple Ford blue oval first appeared on the 1928 Model A. The background color was chosen by Mrs. Henry Ford.

Steeling himself to leave nothing out, he proceeded to tell her all about human reproduction and the joys and responsibilities of intercourse. After our first meeting of the new year, it has been a slow month for the club and some of us have strayed to other pursuits. As you can see, our President has found a few things to occupy his time! But still, we are already planning ahead for the upcoming car show season. Linda Walsh worked on getting flyers for Back to Graffiti in June and Summer Bash in July. John Walsh and crew will be handing them out at the Turlock Swap Meeting, January 28th and 29th. And we are already collecting goodie bag donations and raffle items. And everyone is looking forward and planning our calendars around the Spring and Summer events. Who’s Working on What The mini lizzie project that we have started is moving along at full speed. The motor is fixed and running with a new carburetor and good cleaning. Thank you to Ralph and Sherrel Haverson and Reed’s Hardware in Waterford for getting this accomplished!

Tom Day is closing in on his ’29, ’30, ’31, ’32 pickup. He sent some pictures of the work in progress and brought a scale model of the finished project to the last club meeting. He is planning on a color scheme of golden gold and hammered copper – with lots of chrome!

Late Pumpkin Run News For the 15th Annual Pumpkin Run we were treated with perfect weather and a record turnout. We had approximately 60 classics, WOW!, as well as a lot of “grocery getters”. Over 150 burgers were served, along with hot dogs, Sydney’s Famous Chili, yummy side dishes, desserts, and we had a great raffle too. Thanks to all the Livermore Chapter members for their hard work, plus the side dishes and the raffle prizes Without them there would be no Pumpkin Run. Thank you also to all of the other chapters and guests that contributed to the raffle, and for more side dishes. There were very kid-friendly donuts, the Pumpkin Patch, costume contest, Piñatas, jelly bean count, kids raffle, and a place to get dirty, play, and have fun. We had a few glitches (small), but after our “Holy Sugar” moment at WalMart when everyone kept coming and coming and coming, and Modesto being 10 minutes late (although 15 strong), and some folks going straight to Del Valle Park —panic set in, but everything worked out great! Old friends, and new friends made the 2011, 15th Annual Pumpkin Run a great event. Hope to see you all at the 2012, 16th Annual Pumpkin Run for good friends, good food, and good times.

The ACCC needs directors statewide to help in our battle to “Save Our Cars” and to also help spread the word to collector vehicle enthusiast’s through-out California. We currently have Directors in Northern California, Southern California, and Central California but we’re in need of directors in the Bay Area; specifically San Jose, San Francisco, and the East Bay. We have directors in Southern California but we could use more due to the size and population of Southern California. We’re looking for a few good folks to help us spread the word. Job duties include making informative presentations to car clubs around the state specific to your local area, spreading the word at car shows, and promoting the ACCC whenever and wherever possible. We have found over the years that there is strength in numbers and numbers are what get our voices heard over the others at the Capitol in Sacramento. We have a team of supportive Directors who can help along the way. We also supply presentation tools and marketing kits to assist Directors with presentations. Please contact me if you are interested in becoming an ACCC Director or if you have questions or concerns and thanks.

******************************************************************************* A police officer pulled a car over and walked up to the car. A man rolled down the window and said, “What’s the problem officer? And by the way, I am a doctor.” The officer responded, “I stopped you for running that red light behind you.” Just then the doctor’s wife leaned forward from the passenger seat and said, in an obnoxious voice, “I told him to stop at that light. But did he listen? No. He just kept right on going. Thinks because he’s a doctor he can do what he wants.” The doctor turns to his wife and yells, “Shut up!” The officer continued, “And just before the light I clocked you going 50 mph in a 30 mph zone.” The wife leans forward again and screams, “I told him to slow down. But did he listen? Noooo. He never listens to me. All the time I tell him to slow down, and now look.” The doctor then looks at his wife and says, “Hey, didn’t I just tell you to shut up?” The officer then looks at the wife and says, “Does he always talk to you this way?” The wife grins and says, “Only when he’s been drinking.” *****

Made with beer and lots of cheddar cheese, this warm, hearty dip is just the thing for game days. Be sure to add the cheese slowly, allowing each batch to melt before adding more, to ensure smooth results. Makes a great dip for your Super Bowl party.

Ingredients: 2 Tbs unsalted butter 3 Tbs all-purpose flour ½ cup milk ¾ cup ale or dark beer 1 tsp dry mustard, such as Colmans 2 tsp worchestershire sauce Hot sauce to taste 12 oz. sharp cheddar cheese, shredded Kosher salt and freshly ground pepper, to taste Toast points, crostini and crudites for serving

Page 5: February 2012

Directions: In a saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter. Add the flour and cook, stirring constantly, for 2 minutes. Slowly whisk in the milk and beer, increase the heat to medium-high and bring the mixture to a simmer. Add the mustard, Worcestershire and hot sauce and cook, whisking occasionally, until the mixture begins to thicken, 3 to 5 minutes. Working in batches, add the cheese in large handfuls, whisking until each batch has completely melted before adding more. Season with salt and pepper. Serve immediately with toast points, crostini and crudités for dipping. Makes about 2 cups. Williams-Sonoma Kitchen.

FFIINNAALLLLYY!!!! It’s almost impossible to believe, but the next time any of you see my truck it won’t be wearing its multi-shades of grey primer. As seen here, the beast is in the paint shop being sprayed one color only, and only in one shade. By the time you see these pictures all the base coat should be on, and ready for the clear coat. It’s only been 10+ years waiting for this to happen. Now I can start trying to figure out how to get the interior in without filing bankruptcy.

BE VERY CAREFUL OUT THERE! THE LOS ANGELES TIMES HAS AN ARTICLE ON THE SUBJECT: "FLOORING IT ON CAR FINES". PASS IT ON TO YOUR FRIENDS AND ACQUAINTANCES ! Subject: Important Notice: HUGE California Traffic Tickets Fines Effective 01/06/2012 Please be extremely careful in your driving and car registration & insurance matters. State of California is broke and they are trying hard to squeeze all of us hard to collect money. Effective immediately, if you do not stop at the red light, be ready to pay $436 in fines or if you pass a school bus with flashing red signals, you will be charged $616. The state of California is going for blood, so be extra careful in driving, You cannot afford messing with them. I have been hearing that Highway Patrols are under pressure to issue a lot more tickets than last year with at least 30% increase in fines over 2009, so beware of radar guns, highway and traffic cameras installed everywhere and the tougher enforcement of parking rules. Just for your info, the next time you park in the handicapped zone, even for a minute, you will be looking at almost $ 1000 in parking tickets, so it'd better be worth it. California needs money, so pay close attention to the rules of the road! Traffic Ticket Fines (Effective 01/06/2012) VC 12814.6 $214 Failure to obey license provisions. Bob’s Classic Creations

Vintage Truck & Auto Customizing

Hi Everybody,

My name is Bob Oliver Most of you know me by the red 56 panel truck I built and show.

I’m not sure that you know that I build trucks, cars, and motorcycles for a living and have been doing it for about ten years now.

If any of you need a vehicle built this is my passion. I will build anything you have! I do not discriminate Ford, Chevy or Dodge, from mild to wild.

I do not give my work away but I am much cheaper than all the big name builders. If you want something built, or you just need some advise on something you are building

drop me a line at [email protected] and I ‘ll get back to you. Till then everybody take care and hope to see you at the shows.

Bob

I don’t know if any of you can remember all the way back to 2009 and the update on Mike Hardy’s F-6, but shortly after the article he got sidetracked and put the project on hold. Well, he recently re-started working on it. The photos seen here show his brother, Scott, who flew out from Denver to put some paint on it, prepping the cab, as well as the nearly completed chassis. The 4 wheel disc brakes, updated suspension, and the rear air bags are all installed. Motor mounts have been put in place to set in the 428 Cobra Jet Mike picked up recently, and the plans are to back it up with a C-6 and an Eaton 2 speed real end. The color will be a nice, classy silver, the same color as is on his company trucks. The latest plan is to make the truck a flat bed, and use it to haul some of his trenching equipment.
