Croquet Mixer – A Swinging Good Time

Chamber members started their 2012 networking at the Chamber’s January Mixer at the National Croquet Center, the largest dedicated croquet facility in the world. The NCC is located on the corner of Summit Boulevard and Florida Mango Road in West Palm Beach. Early arrivals were able to learn and play croquet on the beautifully- manicured croquet courts before dark, while others enjoyed the view from the wraparound veranda of the 19,000 sq. foot clubhouse. The National Croquet Center offers free lessons on Saturdays at 10 a.m.

By combining the elegance of the Croquet Center and the professionalism of SandyJames Fine Foods and Productions, its exclusive caterer, the Center is the perfect place to host any affair. By mixing the fun game of croquet with great food, drinks and ambience, they offer corporate and social groups an unmatched entertainment package ideal for corporate outings, team building, charity fundraisers, incentive groups, client entertainment, V.I.P. functions and award ceremonies.

Special thanks to our ambassadors Roy Wiley, E.J. Matot, Bob Wickwire and Dave DuHamel for their assistance.

Top Ten Reasons to Belong to the Chamber of Commerce

of the Palm BeachesReason # 4Appear in Chamber publications! The Chamber of Commerce of the Palm Beaches is proud to announce the release the 2012 issue of the Guide to the Palm Beaches. The Guide debuted at the Chamber’s “State of Our City Address” breakfast in January, where Mayor Muoio spoke to an audience of nearly 900 local business men and women. Each of the event attendees received a copy of the newly-released publication.

With a distribution of over 8,000, the Guide is full of information on the Palm Beaches as a community as well as a business environment. It contains information on neighborhoods and schools, transportation and medical care, where to go and what to do. There are also demographics, newcomer information and insights into the business community. The Guide is included in the countless visitor and relocation packages sent out by the Chamber each year. It is the most frequently requested item in the Chamber lobby from the extensive foot-traffic and visitors to the Chamber seeking information and resource tools. All Chamber members are listed twice in the publication - once alphabetically and once by category with complete contact information, including website addresses.

For more information on the Chamber publications and the many benefits of membership, contact Kelly Fanelli, Membership Director, at (561) 833-3711 ext. 235 or [email protected].

Chamber Welcomes New Trustee

Chamber Board members and Trustees attended a reception at The Philips Point Club by The Breakers. It was an opportunity for the group to meet in a social environment for an informal evening together. Hostess Meg O’Grady, Membership Sales Manager, was on hand to welcome the guests and share information about the new membership structure the club is introducing. The combination of a beautiful view, wonderful food and excellent company made the evening a great success!

Trustee Reception

I have been a Chamber Trustee for the last 4 years representing Cleveland Clinic Florida. The luncheons and receptions offer great networking opportunities at an executive level. The speakers that present during the luncheons provide important information regarding Palm Beach County. I enjoy being part of such an esteemed group of professionals.

State of Our City Address BreakfastAn Inspirational CityMayor Jeri Muoio delivered her first State of Our City address, presented by Grand Bank & Trust of Florida, on Wednesday, January 18 to approximately 900 business men and women. It was themed “Building an Inspired City” and she discussed how West Palm Beach is an inspiration city built on the talents of the residents and business and neighborhood leaders. In the concourse of the convention center, the Palm Beach Atlantic University Dance Ensemble performed using ordinary objects like city garbage cans, parking signs and traffic barricades. Some of the key topics the Mayor addressed included building on our existing resources, focusing on continuing to enhance economic development, public safety, government efficiency, environmental sustainability, and quality of life opportunities. West Palm Beach is a city that truly inspires its residents, businesses and visitors. The Mayor unveiled a new website where residents and businesses can send ideas that the Mayor will personally read – wpb.org/ideas. The speech concluded with an inspiring dance by the Theater Department of the Dreyfoos School of the Arts. Many thanks to our sponsors: Presenting Sponsor, Grand Bank & Trust of Florida; parking, Hedrick Brothers Construction; centerpieces, Lesser, Lesser, Landy & Smith PLLC; attendee gifts, Gunster; and pre-event coffee, the O’Donnell Agency. “My Legal Shield business has definitely benefited from being on the Ambassador Committee and on the Women in Business Committee. The people involved in both these committee, chaired by Kelly Fanelli and Kelley Burke respectively, have been great to work with and are always trying to promote each others businesses. In addition, by my being a member of the Chamber and by attending a lot of the functions that the Chamber offers, my business has profited from all of the alliances that I have made and prospects that I have met. Without this membership, none of this would have happened. I would strongly advise people to seriously consider joining the Chamber of the Palm Beaches, especially if they want to see their business grow and prosper.” Joan [email protected]
