Memorial Gifts

During the month of February, donations were made to the church:

In memory of Raymond Turner by Rod & Betty Shearouse.

In January, 39 of our senior adults experienced a great day trip in Montezuma and Vienna. Our first stop was coun-try cooking at Yoder’s Deitsch Haus restaurant. We were early which probably caused some of us to overeat. The reason: we waited for the staff to begin serving by standing in the area selling a variety of baked goods, most of which were made with extra calories. So, by the time we went through the serving line, it seemed appropriate that dessert needed to be part of the meal. We enjoyed great food and a decent amount of bakery products found their way to our homes. Caring for all God’s creation, some of our group even visited with the local celebrity goat and ensured it had a snack as well. Following lunch, we visited the Georgia Cotton Museum for a brief history of the cotton industry in our state. Our final stop was our yearly visit to Ellis Brothers’ Pecans for sampling and purchasing an incredible variety of flavored pecans. February 12th, 12:30 p.m. – we will gather at FBCLG for a luncheon prepared by Chef Belinda and the Culinary Crew (please bring a dessert to share if possible). Pat Daniel, pianist, will be playing a variety of musical numbers to include some to commemorate Valentine’s Day. February 26th, 9:30 a.m. departure time from FBCLG – the Jolly Elders will be traveling to Cartersville for lunch at Cracker Barrel followed by a visit to the Tellus Science Museum (admission $12.00).

40 days from the beginning of our scheduled revival in February, we have focused on 2 Chronicles 7:14. Your church staff developed daily devotionals dealing with different truths in the verse. We have prayed diligently for our evangelist, Brian Fossett. While we pray for corporate revival, revival always begins in the individual heart. We desperately need revival to sweep across our land. In order for that to happen, the Body of Christ must experience revival. A modern day ‘Great Awakening’ must begin in a local

family of faith. The great need of our day is for disciples of Christ to be fully devoted, fully engaged fol-lowers of the Lord. He longs to move among us. As the prophet of God looked over a valley of dry bones, life had long since vacated that valley. Even the last vestige of life was gone from the bones; they were dry! But when the Spirit of God breathed on the dry bones they began to rattle. The rattling gave way to flesh and then the flesh was filled with life. The valley of dry bones became a living, mighty army of God. Lord we pray that you would breathe your life into us during these days. Pastor Craig

We Extend Our Sympathies

The staff and members of the First Baptist family wish to extend our heartfelt sympathies to Beth Lasseter and Ann Earnest and their families as they mourn the passing and celebrate the life of their father,

Ray Turner, who was called home to be with his Lord and Savior January 15th.

The First Baptist family also wishes to extend our heartfelt sympathies to Sylvia Crowley and her family as they mourn the passing and celebrate the life of her father, Bobby C. Bell, who was called home

to be with his Heavenly Father January 19th.

THE STUDENT SCOOP

Teachers: February will offer some really challenging Sunday School lessons. Your first thought when looking at the titles might be to have prayer and dismiss class. Although these will NOT be easy lessons to teach, I promise you there are people in each of our bible study groups that need to hear them. They need to be ready to address these issues. One of the best ways for teachers to prepare for these lessons is to join us on Wednes-day nights at 6:30. I am meeting each week with teachers for training and lesson preparation. If you join us, you will find some excellent help in your preparation as we work together. Bible Study ANYTIME: We have an online bible study class that meets each week and studies the same lesson that others are using on Sunday morning. It is an interactive class that meets online to listen and share. There are 2 ways that you can take advantage of this class. First, you can join us at 7:00 PM on Tuesday evening. Class lasts for about an hour and you get to us by going to this address: https://zoom.us/meeting/158324390. It is a private site that only our class is on. A second opportunity here is that each class is recorded and then those who are mem-bers of the online class are able to watch/listen at a later time - at their convenience. If you have questions, give me a call and I will help you get to this class.

“Come, let us sing for joy to the LORD; let us shout aloud to the R o c k o f o u r s a l v a t i o n . Let us come before him with thanksgiving and extol him with music and song.” Psalm 95 is a great Psalm of worship. We can sing for joy to the Lord because he has done great things. Just think about it, He has given us eternal life, He has given us grace to face every trial, He has promised to never leave us or to forsake us and He has shown us unconditional love. For all of these things we should sing for joy! We should shout aloud to the Rock of our salvation. He is indeed worthy of our praise, and we get to come to-gether every week and sing together to our great God. What a great privilege. We have a time change for our choir rehearsal. We are moving to Wednesday nights at 7:30 in the choir suite. Grab a friend and come join in singing for joy to the Lord.

Wow, I can’t believe January is over. As we look ahead to

the ending of winter and into the spring, there are several ministry opportunities our students will have to grow and

reach their friends. This is what is coming up: February 7: Winter Jam 3–10 pm; $10 + money for “The Varsity”

February 10: Student night @ revival; Free Pizza dinner @ 6:00 p.m. in Student room

February 22: Student Fellowship 6–9 pm; Student Room

March 13-15: FLOOD (D-Now Weekend); Cost is $40.00 (Includes hoodie, meals & concert)

March 21: Joy Prom; Strong Rock April 6-9: Community Changers; Strong Rock; Cost is

$70.00 inclusive I want to encourage our students to reach out to your friends and invite them to attend these events. There will

be great opportunities for those, who may not know Christ

or have a student group they call home, to hear the Gos-pel, place their faith in Jesus and have their lives changed

forever. Please pray for our student ministry as God con-tinues to work in the lives of students.

Did You Know?

You have donated over $3,000 to Missions just by recycling cans?

Just think how much more we could raise if all of us joined in to turn cans into cash for Missions!

Today would be a good day to start, don’t you think?
