Drama Club
MARK THE DATE!
The Attleboro High School
Drama Club will once again
be hosting the preliminary
level of the Massachusetts
High School Drama Festival.
Over 100 schools throughout
the Commonwealth partici-
pate in this three-round tour-
nament. On Saturday, March 4, 2017, AHS will per-
form their short play along with seven other schools--
Arlington Catholic High School, Franklin High
School, Notre Dame Academy in Hingham, Mansfield
High School, Marian High School in Framingham,
Rising Tide Charter Public School in Plymouth, and
Sharon High School. From each site, three schools ad-
vance to the semi-finals two weeks later, but the event
is primarily an educational one--watching a variety of
theatre genres and styles, and interacting with diverse
students who share their love of theatre. Attleboro
High School students are annually praised not only for
their dramatic performance, but for their friendly and
welcoming attitude as hosts.
The event is open to the public, and a one-time $10
ticket allows the bearer to view any or all of shows
being performed that day. The exact titles and times of
each of the shows will appear in next month's Blue
Notes, but for now, save the date!
February Break There will be NO SCHOOL during
the week of February 20, 2017.
News from the Guidance Department
Seniors:
Plans for Next Year:
This is a busy time of year as seniors are hearing back
from colleges and finalizing their post-secondary
plans. We love to hear about acceptances and want to
help with additional options if needed. There are a
number of colleges that are still accepting applications
at this time. We are here to help!
BCC Palooza:
Bristol Community College will be conducting their
“BCC Palooza” on February 15 at AHS. This is an
opportunity for our BCC-bound students to receive
admissions decisions, complete the FAFSA, and
schedule placement testing. Students should see their
Guidance Counselor ASAP to sign-up for this oppor-
tunity, as space is limited.
Opportunities Fair
The School to Career Office, the Guidance Depart-
ment, and the Office of Special Education will be
hosting the fourth annual Opportunities Fair on Feb-
ruary 28 from 8:30-9:30. Area businesses, colleges,
military branches and community support services will
be represented to assist students with their post-
secondary endeavors. Seniors who have questions or
want to be included on the invitation list should see
any member of the Guidance Department.
Scholarships:
Scholarships and financial aid should be a priority at
this time. Scholarship application
packets are available in all house
offices and on the balcony. Our
web site also has many additional
scholarships to consider. The ma-
jority of the scholarships have
an April 1 deadline, but seniors
need to be aware that some have an earlier deadline.
Students should check each scholarship individually
for requirements such as a letter of recommendation
and a resume. Any member of the Guidance Depart-
ment can answer questions on the process.

advice on applying to highly selective colleges. The event
will take place on April 12 from 5:30-6:30 PM in Bray
Auditorium. This event is open to all families.
Junior Parent Night:
The Guidance Department will be hosting our annual Jun-
ior Parent Night on March 1 at 6:30 PM in Bray Audito-
rium. We will discuss post-secondary planning for college,
military and work and provide information and a timeline
on what our juniors should be doing to prepare for the next
step in their educational journey.

Have you thought about a career in the Air Force? Do you
have some questions about the military? SSgt Moran is
coming to AHS on February 9 to distribute information on

tatives will be on-site to help you learn what you can expect
when selecting and applying to colleges and universities.
This opportunity is presented by local college admission
officers on March 1 at 6:00 PM in B1 Cafeteria. This

TDA - Driver Education at Attleboro High School
Join the over 1000 families that choose Teachers Driv-
ing Academy as the driver education program for their
child. Quality classroom instruction and the conven-
ience of on-site classes make TDA the perfect choice!
Students aged 15 years, nine months and older are eli-
gible to take driver education classes. In order to earn
a driver’s education certificate, the state of Massachu-
setts requires students to take 30 hours of classroom
instruction, 12 hours of driving instruction, and six
hours of driving observation; parents must also take a
two hour parent class. Both the student and parent
classroom instruction will take place at the high
school; the driving instruction will take place off site.

of age, parents are contacted for consent to be seen in
the clinic.
