feedback on my trailer

FEEDBACK ON MY FINAL TRAILER Now I have finished my trailer and uploaded it to my blog, I have asked a group of people that fit into the lower age bracket of my target audience (the majority being aged around 15 to early 20’s) in order for my to understand what people felt was good about my trailer and what I could have done differently. This will help me in the future when it comes to using the software again and when doing my evaluation. This is the first piece of feedback I had off somebody aged 15. This feedback seems very positive which made me feel that I had completed my trailer successfully. I was happy that she picked up on the tense feeling throughout as this is a convention of a thriller. I am pleased with the way they thought the music went well with the genre and that the whole trailer was very atmospheric. After this feedback I asked others to see if I could find anything that I could have improved on so I can include it in my final evaluation.

FEEDBACK ON MY FINAL TRAILERNow I have finished my trailer and uploaded it to my blog, I have asked a group of people that fit

into the lower age bracket of my target audience (the majority being aged around 15 to early 20’s) in order for my to understand what people felt was good about my trailer and what I could have done differently. This will help me in the future when it comes to using the software again

and when doing my evaluation.

This person is 16 and after watching the trailer told me a few things that they liked and something I could have done differently. They picked up on the fact that it was filmed in the dark and that this added to the thriller genre. They also liked how the music raised the tension which is something that I wanted. The only improvement they mentioned was that the intertitles could have stayed on for a bit longer which was useful as I can use this information in my evaluation.

I was happy with this feedback as the viewer (aged 17) went into a bit of detail as to what they thought worked well. It was good that she thought that the storyline was clear but without too much being given away, this is one of the biggest things I attempted to do with my trailer. I agree that my trailer could have had more dialogue as this would have introduced the characters even more. I will be able to use this

for my evaluation and to help me understand changes that could be made.

I am happy that this viewer (18) picked up on the costume I used as this tells me that my use of mise-en-scene was successful. This was the third person to pick on my use of sound and said that they like how it builds up the tension. Tension and suspense is an important part of a thriller as it leaves the audience wanting to know what will happen next. The improvement is very helpful to me as I know what the target audience do expect from trailers. I realise now that the scream could have been louder to add a sense of crime or death to the trailer and the overall film.

This was the final piece of feedback that I gathered using Facebook. It was given my a 22 year old male, varying my overall results. This viewer picked up on my use of lighting which is really useful as it tells me that it made my trailer much more effective. Although they liked the lighting, they did mention the fact that the thought the genre was horror. This suggests that some of the conventions that I followed during

my trailer have a crossover into the horror genre, slightly confusing the audience and maybe selling my film to the wrong target audience. This feedback will be useful in question three of my evaluation.
