FEFU is the first classical university in the vast territory from Lake Baikal to the Pacific Ocean. Its history goes back to October 21, 1899 when Oriental Institute was opened in Vladivostok.

Far Eastern Federal University was established on the basis of four major universities of the Far East (Far Eastern State University, Far Eastern State Technical University, Pacific State University of Economics and Ussuriysk State Pedagogical University) on January 27, 2011 pursuant to the Presidential Decree. The University Development Program was approved by the Prime Minister of the Russian Federation on December 17, 2010. The reorganization process was completed on June 1, 2011. Currently FEFU is one of the largest universities in the Russian Federation and the leader of the Russian education in the Asia-Pacific Region.

Introduction to Vladivostok

Vladivostok is the fastest growing city and seaport in the Russian Far East , the administrative center of Primorsky Territory, the eastern endpoint of the Trans-Siberian Railway which connects the Far East with the European part of Russia and Europe. The city was founded in 1860. The city's population is 616,900. It is located on the coast of the Sea of Japan on the Muravyev-Amur Peninsula. APEC Summit is planned to be carried out in Vladivostok in September 2012, therefore the large-scale construction of new modern facilities has been expanded in the city.

Vladivostok is the cultural capital of the Russian Far East. The cultural program of the city offers many activities suitable for all ages and tastes. There are museums, art galleries, theaters, philharmonic society, circus, concert halls, night clubs of different styles and dress codes in the city.

Vladivostok is located on the same latitude as Sochi. The warmest month is August, with an average temperature of +20° C, +25° C, the coldest one is January -15° C, -20° C. The swimming season lasts from mid-July to early September. The sea water temperature is up to 26° C.

1) Teaching of Russian at the Center for Russian Language and Culture at the School of Regional and International Studies:

FEFU Centre for Russian Language and Culture is a unique school that enrolls more than 350 students from the United States, Japan, Korea, China, North Korea and other countries each year to study Russian as a foreign language.

Any student of partner universities may participate in our educational programs.

Program Highlights

• 20 hours of instruction each week• 2 lessons per day• Small classes (6~10 students) • Language training - Russian• 6 levels (from basic to advanced) • Tutor for a group• Cultural program

2) Education on FEFU standard-based academic programs.

When applying for study placement exchange student must provide TORFL Certificate (Test of Russian as a Foreign Language) at least at Level 1 or pass testing at the Center for Russian Language and Culture on arrival to FEFU*.

* If the results of testing the level of Russian language proficiency are below the required level, the student is entitled to be enrolled only in Russian language courses in the Center for Russian Language and Culture.

FEFU offers exchange students a variety of cultural events. The program includes city tours, visits to museums, exhibitions, concerts and the coziest cafes. In addition, the program provides students with the knowledge of natural monuments of Primorsky Territory (tours), picnics at the seaside, visits to the botanical gardens and other country outings.

Medical insurance (per month) 750 rub.

Accommodation fee* 1-bed room – 11 500 rubles (approximately 370$); 2-bed room – 6 500 rubles (approximately 210$); 3-bed room - 3 000 rubles (approximately 112$).

• Deposit fee - FEFU dormitory(refundable one day before student's departure) 1500 rub.

• Meals (at FEFU cafeteria) - approx. 10500 rub. a month.

• Extension of the visa(if necessary) 1500 rub.

• Students coming for the Fall/Winter Semester shall pur-chase warm clothing: jacket, hat, warm shoes, gloves (or bring them from home).

* FEFU gives exchange students the scholarship, which covers ac-commodation costs, if such clause is included in the agreement between the universities. Please consult your international uni-versity office coordinator about the scholarship.

* The applications are accepted only from the international of-fices of the sending universities.

nMaking Invitation Letter begins only after the receipt of all requested information and it may take more than 3 months to issue.

nOriginal Letter of Invitation will be sent by EXPRESS MAIL (UPS).

nA student with an invitation and a letter of support should contact the Russian Consulate to get visa to Russia.

nAfter obtaining visa please inform us about your time of arrival in Vladivostok.

nFEFU shall arrange for a meeting and students' transpor-tation to the dormitory, who well in advance informed about the exact date, flight (bus) number and time of arrival to the Vladivostok railway station, bus station or airport.

The dormitory is located in FEFU campus, at a distance of 3 minutes' walk from the dormitory to the Center for Russian Language and Culture.

Dormitories and FEFU buildings are located in Vladivostok downtown. Dormitory is a 15 minutes' walk away from the main square of the city's downtown. Room type:• Double room
