MESSAGE FROM CHAIR OF SALTFORD COMMUNITY ASSOCIATION, STEVE JOHNSON

After two years in the planning I’m delighted to tell you that the third Village Festival opens at Saltford Hall on Saturday 13th June at 10:00. As you’ll have read recently, Saltford can now trace community activity to back around 300 BC with the discovery of the Carthaginian coin and I’m sure village events were held even back then! Fast forward to the 1890’s and Saltford Regatta was the place to be, nicknamed ‘The Henley of the West’ and certainly the place to be for hundreds of elegant and carefree Victorians, a fantastic sight with their parasols and riverside chairs. In the period after the Second World War we saw Saltford Carnival: you can see 1951 carnival photos on our Facebook page. More latterly, in the late 50’s we saw Saltford Community Association created.

What I’m saying is that Saltford has always been a very special place to live and, at a time when the world may seem crazy, Saltford is building a stronger community where everyone young or old tries to make Saltford a better place to live; which neatly brings me back to Saltford Festival!

The Festival is for everyone to enjoy and I personally hope you all have a fantastic time and if you would like to get involved in any way please ring 01225 874081 or mail me [email protected].

MAIL ME YOUR FESTIVAL PHOTOS SO I CAN SHARE THEM ON THE FESTIVAL FACEBOOK PAGE

Tickets for all events are available from Saltford Hall, Saltford Post Office, by calling 01225 874081 or via e-mail to [email protected]
