November 30, 1928- 33 students from 18 states met in Kansas City & formed Future Farmers of America
FFA for young men studying vocational ag in public secondary schools
Develop ag leadership, character, thrift, scholarship, cooperation, citizenship & patriotism
HISTORY
3 levels- local, state, national Student officers elected at each level New Farmers of America in 1935 Provide leadership opportunities to African-American students
National headquarters in Alexandria, VA in 1939 In 1965 New Farmers of America merged with FFA due to segregation being prohibited
Vote to allow women in FFA in 1969
HISTORY
Official name changed to National FFA Organization in 1988 at 61st National FFA Convention Made to recognize that FFA is not only for those interested in farming, but also for those with more diverse industries
Science, business, & technology in addition to farming
National FFA Center moved to Indianapolis, Indiana in 1998 Kansas City, MO; Louisville, KY; Indianapolis, Ind From 2013-2016: Louisvile, KY Today has more than 550,000 members with chapters in all 50 states

CONSTITUTIONAL OFFICERS
President — Stationed by the rising sun, a symbol of a new era in agriculture.
Vice President — Stationed by the plow, the symbol of labor and tillage of the soil.
Secretary — Stationed by the ear of corn, the symbol of the national span of FFA because corn is grown in all fifty states.
Treasurer — Stationed by emblem of Washington, to keep an accurate account of receipts and disbursements just as Washington kept his farm account.
CONSTITUTIONAL OFFICERS
Reporter — Stationed by the flag, to inform the people that the FFA is a national organization.
Sentinel — Stationed by the door, to make sure the door is open to all and keep the room comfortable as well as assisting in mainting order.
Advisor — Stationed by the owl, the time honored emblem of knowledge and wisdom

Pay all current state & national dues Display conduct consistent with ideals of FFA May retain active membership until Nov 30, following the 4th national FFA convention after graduation from high school
May not retain active membership after the age of 23
Alumni Open to all former active members, collegiate & honorary member, present & former ag educators, parents of FFA member & others interested & supportive of FFA
