Reminder: The Ifremer vessels are fitted with a differential receiver except for the Gwen Drez (if a receiver is deemed to be essential for navigation the scientific party will have to finance it)
If it is deemed essential to use XCTD probes for bathymetry the scientific party will have to finance it.
Reminder: data backup support must be provided by the scientific party (USB DISK, DVD, etc.).
The backup is ensured by on-board data processing personnel. Only a single set of the whole data is given to the Chief Scientist.
Any duplication is carried out by the scientific party.
Note: For low volumes of data, a DVD data medium can be used and will be provided on board.
CORIOLIS
Within the framework of the operational oceanographic programme CORIOLIS the chief scientists are obliged to send the temperature and salinity profiles collected during the cruise in real time (on a daily basis). This data is sent in compressed format, after reduction if necessary (every 5 dbars), to the following addresses: [email protected], [email protected]. Prior to sending data to the following addresses: [email protected] and [email protected] it is necessary to send notification (name of the cruise, name of the vessel) to the CORIOLIS centre to the following address [email protected]

Data sheet P3: Timing of operations (in principle)
A – General time scheduleOnly indicate dates with respect to D1, the handing-over of the vessel (e.g.: D2 - equipment of…), and give only the dominant operations for each day
Reminder : “Day 1” is the handing-over date: loading of equipment and the personnel who can have their meals and sleep on board. The vessel will leave port on Day 2 at the earliest. "The last day” is the last day of availability: unloading of equipment and the personnel who can have lunch on board but must have freed their cabin. The vessel must return to quay the day before at the latest. All scientific equipment, chemicals and samples must be unloaded. Exemptions can be obtained for a later unloading, but this request must be made at the latest during the cruise preparation meeting in order to study its feasibility.

Diving
All personnel having to dive in a manned submersible must provide a doctor's certificate written by a medical officer in conformity with the decree of 19 March 1993 ( http://www.flotteoceanographique.fr/campagnesscient/Aptitude-medicale ).The certificate must be given to the ship’s master. The ship’s master, in connection with the submersible leader, will allow only persons having provided a certificate to dive. For non-French nationals, a medical officer’s certificate is not obligatory; a general practitioner’s certificate may be considered suitable.
The hyperbaric diving operations carried out from the ALIS and ANTEA vessels must be described in a file to be submitted for approval and signature to the person in charge of the "Execution department of hyperbaric works"

Data sheet P6: On-board mobile equipment
Reminders
For the installation of scientific equipment on the Nautile it is necessary to conform to the following documents: “Interface specifications of scientific equipment” ref. 0170 08 50 00 SU/B and “Quality of the underwater operation: Procedure for deployment of the Nautile” ref.: DITI/LB/98-04 (version 03 of 30/06/1998). Hyperbaric test certificates in compliance with standard NF X 10 812 Appendix C are required for all resistant enclosures intended to equip or to be handled by the Nautile.Contact Jean-Michel Nivaggioli (phone: +33 4 94 30 48 45, email: [email protected]).
For instruments including an electric X-ray generator, Ifremer must make a request for authorization from the DGSNR four months before the cruise. The Chief Scientist will address the file ( http://www.flotteoceanographique.fr/campagnesscient/Securite ) to the safety engineer of the Ifremer Le Bras Philippe phone: +33 2 98 22 44 65, Fax: +33 2 98 22 45 45, email: [email protected] . The Chief Scientist will designate a correspondent from among the cruise personnel, who will be responsible for the use of radioelements during the cruise. The master will have to make sure that DGSNR authorization was indeed obtained.
For any on-board equipment representing a risk during its storage, on-board use or deployment from the ship, it is mandatory to fill out a “description and evaluation of risks” data sheet. Refer to the number of the data sheet in the tables below (form at the end of the file)
Some examples of equipment presenting potential risks of falls, injury, irradiation, explosion, fire, burns, pollution, etc.: moorings, X-ray generating apparatus, Bunsen burner, centrifuge machine, furnaces, laser, batteries, bathy probe, plankton nets, etc.

REMINDER: the use and exploitation of photographic and audiovisual documents produced aboard ships and underwater vehicles managed by Ifremer are regulated by decision PDG N° 94 - 193 and notes DC.N° 92.201 and N° 93.451

Form for describing the risks related to chemical products and the precautions taken for their on-board use
Mandatory to be completed within the framework of the application of the International Safety Management Code (ISM) adopted by the International Maritime Organization (IMO) This code aims at providing an international standard for safety in the management and operation of vessels as well as for the prevention of pollution (protection of the vessel, the personnel and the environment).Reminder: the OPEA is in charge of operations on the Marion Dufresne. It is the exclusive correspondent of the mission's chief scientist during the cruises.
Fill out a data sheet for all dangerous ionizing or non-ionizing products.
Data sheets are not required for a product whose use on board ship does not represent a risk, provided it does not exhibit any incompatibility with another product brought on board. However, these products must be entered on the inventory (data sheet P7 of this file)
Reminder of some rules for the use of chemicals on board
1 - Before embarkation The authorization of the DGSNR for the use of radioelements will be sent by the safety engineer to the Chief Scientist or to the and to the IRD US191.
2 - On embarkation The Chief Scientist will make sure that the master / OPEA is clearly informed about the chemical products file. Jointly with the chief scientist the master of the vessel shall control the loading of chemicals and countersign the inventory of the products loaded. On the handing-over date, data sheet No. 2, "chemicals safety" must be transmitted by fax by the master to the Safety Engineer (+33 2 98 22 44 65). In the event of radioelements being loaded on board, the master must ensure that DGSNR authorization is actually obtained.
3 - During the mission: The Chief Scientist shall:
Check that chemicals are used in accordance with the safety requirements.
Inform the master / OPEA of any accidental contamination.
Inform the master /OPEA immediately in the event of any accidental release (certain vessels produce drinking water from sea water, which gives rise to a risk of contamination on station).
4 - At the end of the mission, the chief scientist and the master /OPEA must:
Ensure that all spent and unused chemicals are unloaded (any storage on board is excluded);
Check that the storage and work rooms are not contaminated, and carry out decontamination if necessary;
Check that a systematic decontamination is carried out after the use of radioelements, following smear tests. The results of measurements carried out on the smears must be transmitted to the safety engineer at Ifremer: Philippe Le Bras (Tel.: +33 2 98 22 40 65, Fax: +33 2 98 22 45 45, email: [email protected] ).
Countersign the forms: Report on the use of radioelements and Report on the use of chemicals.
Check the general cleanliness of the work rooms.

EMERGENCY PROCEDURE IN THE EVENT OF A DIVING ACCIDENT
Classification and symptoms:
Skin bends and skin rash: localized or generalized itching, small blisters or marbling of the skin. Can be the forerunners of more severe accidents. Procedures:1-2-3-4-6-7, depending on the evolution in the following 15 minutes – 5
Neurological accidents: exhaustion, unstable blood pressure, vision and speech disorders, seizures, paralysis of the lower limbs or whole body. Procedures:1-2-3-4-5-6-7
Osteo-articular accidents: increasingly intense pain in an articulation: shoulder, elbow, knee, hip. Procedures: 1-3-2-4-6-7, depending on the evolution in the following 15 minutes – 5
Internal ear accidents: localized pain, dizziness and nausea Procedures: 1-2-3-6-7 - depending on the evolution in the following 15 minutes – 5
Pulmonary accidents: breathing difficulties, anxiety, Procedures: 1-2-5-7-3-4-6

1-PUT THE ACCIDENT VICTIM IN THE SAFETY POSITION IN THE MOST COMFORTABLE PLACE POSSIBLE.
2- MAKE VICTIM BREATH PURE OXYGEN: Adjust the outlet flow to roughly 15 L/mn until a medial team can attend the accident victim.
3- ADMINISTER 500 mg OF ASPIRIN (ensure that the subject is not allergic to aspirin or is not suffering from haemorrhage)
4- MAKE THE VICTIM DRINK PURE WATER. Regarding the amount of water: between 1 ad 1.5 litres in several times.
5- RADIO ALERT, CONTACT THE SMUR: Indicate the nearest contact
6- NOTIFY THE PERSON IN CHARGE OF THE IRD CENTRE Indicate the nearest contact
7- REMOVE THE ACCIDENT VICTIM'S DIVING CLOTHING AND KEEP HIM DRY AND WARM. If necessary, administer an anxiolytic.
