Percorrere i sentieri e le strade di Fiesole in bike è un’occasione unica per conoscere la bellezza della natura del suo territorio e un appuntamento irripetibile con la storia, l’arte e la cultura. A pochi chilometri da Firenze nel cuore della Toscana un piccolo paradiso per i bikers: trails di ogni livello attraverso un paesaggio variopinto ora simile ad un giardino - ricco di case coloniche, ville e antiche fattorie, oliveti e vigneti, splendidi e silenziosi panorami - ora aspro e remoto. Si tratta di itinerari “turistici” non competitivi, gratuiti, tutti accompagnati e condotti da preparate Guide ambientali-escursionistiche, della durata di circa quattro ore.

Biking along the roads and paths of Fiesole offers the unique chance to discover the natural beauty of the countryside and an unrepeatable rendezvous with the history, art and culture of Fiesole. Just a few kilometres from Florence in the heart of Tuscany, a miniature paradise for bikers: trails for every level across multi-coloured landscapes – one moment a garden, full of villas, homesteads and farm houses, olive groves and vineyards, magnificent, tranquil landscapes – the next suddenly rugged and remote. The itineraries we propose are intended for “tourist” interests and are not competitive, they are free of charge and all led by expert environmental-excursionist guides. They last approximately four hours.

•Segnalare in fase di prenotazione il vostro livello tecnico e di preparazione atletica facendo riferimento alla legenda base medio esperto che sintetizza per ogni itinerario lunghezza, dislivello, tipologia di fondo, capacità tecniche-fisiche necessarie. Non si tratta di itinerari competitivi, ma anche per il livello base è necessario saper utilizzare il cambio marce a 24 velocità.

•Attenersi a quanto indicherà la vostra guida.

•Scegliere il proprio abbigliamento è molto importante, verificare le condizioni climatiche prima di partecipare al tour. Si consiglia l’utilizzo di pantaloncini da ciclista. È vietato l’uso di sandali o ciabatte.

•Necessario almeno ½ litro d’acqua ciascuno.Non tutti gli itinerari offrono durante il tragitto l’opportunità di rifornirsi.

•Obbligatori (forniti di corredo a chi noleggia la bici): casco, accessori per la sicurezza del tour di notte (luce anteriore e posteriore, giubbino catarifrangenti), Kit per la manutenzione della bici (camera d’aria, kit riparazione camera d’aria ecc.).

•Età minima del partecipante: 14 anni.

•Per chi non ha compiuto 18 anni è necessario essere accompagnato da un adulto (genitore/tutore).

• Sarà necessario compilare un modulo di iscrizione e firmare la relativa Dichiarazione liberatoria.

L’organizzazione si riserva di modificare l’escursione in caso di necessità.

FiesoleBike.it che guida le escursioni, può noleggiare, per chi ne è sprovvisto, al costo di 15,00 euro per escursione, 7 MTB, (casco compreso), in alluminio, 24 v, di misura già predisposta.

Per la Lucciolata del 7 luglio a chi noleggia la bici verranno forniti tutti gli accessori per viaggiare in sicurezza dopo il tramonto.

Per le gite contrassegnate con questo simbolo è possibile, anche con le MTB noleggiate e in ogni caso comunicandolo preventiva-mente, non effettuare il percorso di ritorno fermandosi a Firenze (Via Verga-Zona Coverciano-Capolinea autobus n°17 orario previsto di arrivo ore 12,00).

BasePercorso bike trekking alla portata di tutti i ciclisti per pendenza e lunghezza, si svolge normalmente e principalmente su strade asfaltate o sterrate facilmente percorribili, non presenta passaggi pericolosi.

MedioPercorso cross country che per pendenza e lunghezza richiede un allenamento medio, si svolge normalmente su strade sterrate e su facili sentieri, richiede una certa esperienza nella condotta del mezzo, può presentare qualche passaggio pericoloso.

EspertoPercorso cross country-All mountain che per pendenza e lunghezza richiede un ottimo allenamento, si svolge normalmente e principalmente su strade molto ripide e/o al limite della pedalabilità, fuori pista e su sentieri complessi, richiede una perfetta padronanza del mezzo, può presentare passaggi pericolosi.

•Carefully read the programme, especially the details for each excursion and the level of difficulty.

•Tell us your technical level and athletic training at the time of booking by referring to the key: basic medium expert, which sums up the length, rise, type of substrate and required fitness-technical level necessary for each trip. The routes are not competitive, but even the elementary level requires that you know how to use a 24 speed gear box.

•Keep to the instructions given by your guide.•The right choice of clothing is imperative, check

out weather conditions before joining the tour. We suggest you wear cycling shorts. Sandals or flip-flops are not allowed.

• Food and water: bring at least ½ litre of water per person. There are not always places to drink or find water en route.

•A helmet, safety accessories for night tours (fore and rear lights, reflecting jacket, repair kit with inner tube etc.) are obligatory (all provided with hired bikes).

•Minimum age: 14 years.

•Those under 18 years of age must be accompanied by an adult (parent or guardian).

• It is compulsory to fill in the enrolment form and sign the relative disclaimer of liability.

BasicBike trekking itinerary suitable for all cyclists as regards slope and length. Generally and mainly on tarred roads or easily manageable earth roads with no dangerous sections.

MediumCross country tracks which for their gradient and length require medium level training. Usually along earth roads and easy tracks, they require some degree of experience in using the bike, there can be some dangerous sections.

ExpertCross country. All mountain, which for gradient and length call for advanced training. Generally on very steep roads and/or at the limit of pedal use, off track and on difficult paths, require perfect mastership of the bike. Can be dangerous.

For those who need a bike, FiesoleBike.it, which leads the tours can, on request, hire out 7 MTB (in aluminium, 24 v. shock absorbers), helmet included at a cost of Euro 15.00 per trip, in pre-established sizes.

For the Moonlight fire-fly trip on 7th July all the necessary equipment will also be provided to safely bike after sunset.

In the trips signaled with this symbol, participants can decide to stop in Florence without completing the return journey, even with hired MTB bikes, as long as they advise us beforehand. Estimated arrival time in Florence 12.00 (Via Verga, Coverciano area – no. 17 bus terminal).

Bellissimo percorso cross country che attraverserà una vallata di una bellezza forte ed aspra. Passando da Castel di Poggio si arriverà nella Valle del Sambre, antico fiume frequentato per il culto dei morti dagli Etruschi. Giunti presso Compiobbi in prossimità del fiume Arno, risalendo per Valle e poi Pagnolle dove leggenda vuole che proprio qui sia sbocciato l’amore tra il sommo poeta Dante e Beatrice, lasciando alle spalle Monte Fanna e San Clemente, il tour farà ritorno a Fiesole.

Beautiful cross country run, mainly along isolated dirt roads we will cross a magnificent and rugged valley. Making our way past Castel di Poggio we reach the Valley of the Sambre, an old river where the Etruscans used to go perhaps for the cult of the dead. After reaching Compiobbi, near the river Arno, we shall take the ascent for Valle and then Pagnolle where, legend has it, the love between the Bard Dante and Beatrice blossomed. Leaving behind us Monte Fanna and San Clemente we shall make our way back to Fiesole.

In previsione dei Mondiali di ciclismo del 2013, come accadrà per la corsa iridata, ma per diverso itinerario, questo tour da Fiesole, porterà, attraverso la via vecchia Fiesolana, passando da via Boccaccio e dal quartiere delle Cure, nel cuore storico di Firenze. Scoprirete che la città con la bici è ad un giro di ruota. Potrete scivolarci dentro senza accorgervene, e trovarvi all’improvviso in Piazza del Duomo. Poi, dopo p.zza Signoria, Ponte Vecchio ed aver costeggiato i lungarni il tour risalirà verso Ponte a Mensola e l’omonima Area Naturale Protetta e passando dal bosco di Vincigliata tornerà a Fiesole.

With a view to the World Cycling Championships in 2013, and just like that race but biking along a different route, this tour from Fiesole will follow the via Vecchia Fiesolana and pass along via Boccaccio and the area of the Cure to get to the center of Florence. You will discover that, by bike, Florence is just a turn of the wheels away. You can slip inside the city without even noticing and suddenly find yourself in Piazza del Duomo. Then go onto Piazza Signoria, the Old Bridge and, after cycling along the Arno embankment, on towards Ponte a Mensola and the Protected Nature Reserve of the same name. Passing the Vincigliata woods, we make our way back to Fiesole.*

Attraverso un paesaggio agreste unico al mondo, un intenso e facile itinerario immersi nella tipica campagna fiesolana. Fra leggende, miti, contadini e scalpellini, aggirando il Montececeri, famoso per l’estrazione e la lavorazione della pietra serena e per essere il luogo dove secondo la leggenda Leonardo da Vinci fece volare il primo uomo, si raggiunge prima la splendida Villa Peyron, poi Castel di Poggio. Il tour scenderà verso Settignano e da qui proseguirà verso Firenze immergendosi nella dolce campagna fiorentina fra distese di olivi, castelli neogotici e splendide ville. Ritorno a Fiesole per il borgo di Maiano.

Across a rugged landscape, unique in the world, an intense yet easy itinerary immersed in the typical and original Fiesole countryside. Amongst legends, myths, farmers and masons, we shall cycle around Montececeri, famous for quarrying and working Pietra Serena, and for being the place where according to legend Leonardo da Vinci first let man fly. We go on to the splendid Villa Peyron, followed by Castel di Poggio. From Montebeni, the track descends towards Settignano from where we will proceed to Florence, steeped in the gentle Florentine countryside among stretches of olives, neo-gothic castles and magnificent villas. Return to Fiesole via the hamlet of Maiano.

Un tour per gli amanti degli itinerari off-road e dei singletrack più spericolati, ma anche per chi preferisce soffermarsi ad ammirare la natura. Un continuo saliscendi passando da Monte Fanna e San Clemente, fino a Poggio Pratone, il punto più alto di Fiesole da cui si gode una vista superba del territorio a 360°. Tracce archeologiche e tradizioni popolari collegano tali luoghi agli etruschi, ai romani e ai longobardi. Qui nel secolo passato era solito recarsi a passeggiare e meditare lo scrittore fiorentino Bruno Cicognani al cui ricordo è posta una stele. Passando da via dell’Acquinvoglio, dal significato onomatopeico che ricorda il gorgoglio dell’acqua della vicina sorgente e da cui forse aveva origine l’acquedotto romano, e via del Bargellino, si farà ritorno a Fiesole.

For lovers of off-the-road and daredevil singletrack, but also for anyone who prefers to stop and admire nature. Ups and downs all the way passing through Monte Fanna and San Clemente, until we reach Poggio Pratone, the highest peak in Fiesole and from where you can admire a superb 360° view over all the Fiesole territory. Archaeological remains and popular traditions link these places to the Etruscans, Romans and Longobards. During the last century, the Florentine writer, Bruno Cicognani, used to come here to walk and meditate and a stele marks the spot in commemoration. We wind our way back to Fiesole, setting out from Via dell’Acquinvoglio, whose onomatopoeic name sounds like the water bubbling from the nearby spring, perhaps the origins of the Roman aqueduct. Then on to via del Bargellino which will take us back to Fiesole.

Itinerario ideale per chi vuole concludere la giornata godendo della frescura delle colline. L’andata al tramonto, nell’ora in cui i colori trasformano i luoghi, poi il ritorno alla scoperta di panorami notturni su Firenze. Da Fiesole si arriverà all’Olmoutilizzando alcune vie campestri immerse nella campagna. All’Olmo, ore 20,30, sosta per una cena in allegria (prezzo speciale 15 euro a persona con prenotazioni entro il 4 luglio). Al termine ritorno a Fiesole.

This is the ideal tour for enjoy the well-being of the cool hills. The outgoing trip starts at dusk, when the colours paint places a different hue, the return journey lets you discover evocative night-time views over Florence. To reach Olmo from Fiesole, our group will pedal along some old countryside roads. We stop at Olmo for dinner at Dino’s restaurant (8.30 pm, special price 15 euro per person, reservation untill 4 july) to get to know each other better over a good meal. Afterwards return to Fiesole.

These itineraries are part of the activities created by the Regional “Osservatori Turistici di Destinazione” (Tourist Destination Observatory Forums) to evaluate the most appropriate actions and choices to promote “Sustainable and Competi-tive Tourism”.Within the ambit of the European NECSTouR (Network of European Regions for a Sustainable and Competitive Tourism), the Region of Tuscany, of which it is leader, had started an important programme, including Fiesole, with the aim to guarantee a balance between developing tourism and the respect for the cultural and environmental heritage of its splendid territory.Reaching an equilibrium between the development of economic activity, safe-guarding the environmental, cultural and social characteristics and improving the quality of the experiences of tourists, workers in the field of tourism and the local population is the “sustainable” form which Tuscany is aiming for to become more and more a destination of excellence in the European and International scene. Fiesole together with another nine communes in Tuscany has been chosen as the seat of an Observatory which, flanked by a permanent Forum composed of representatives from the Region, Province, University, citizens, commercial, cultural and environmental entities, will consider different models of touristic, economic and cultural development of the territory in an attempt to combine the ambitious affili-ation between sustainability and competitiveness according to ten strategic points: quality of life of residents and tourists, quality of work, off-season promotions, ac-tively safeguarding the cultural and environmental heritage, actively safeguarding the characteristics of sites, the best use of energy and water resources, reduction of rubbish and improving waste management.By proposing these itineraries, Fiesole aims to reveal, enhance and at the same time protect one of its strongest characteristic features – its landscape and en-vironment that have so deeply marked its ancient and recent history. Covering these itineraries means plunging into a historical, artistic and cultural experience which communicates, interacts and balances perfectly with a stupendous rural and urban landscape.

I presenti itinerari si inseriscono nelle attività del Progetto Regionale “Os-servatori Turistici di Destinazione” nati per valutare le azioni e le scelte più opportune per promuovere un “Turismo Sostenibile e Competitivo”.La Regione Toscana, nell’ambito della rete europea NECSTouR (Network of European Regions for a Sustainable and Competitive Tourism) di cui è il capofila, ha dato avvio ad un importante programma, in cui è inserita anche Fiesole, con l’obiettivo di garantire un equilibrio tra lo sviluppo del turi-smo ed il rispetto del patrimonio culturale ed ambientale del suo splendido territorio. Raggiungere un equilibrio fra lo sviluppo delle attività economiche, la tutela delle caratteristiche ambientali, culturali e sociali ed il miglioramento della qualità dell’esperienza dei turisti, dei lavoratori del turismo e delle popo-lazioni locali è la forma “sostenibile” a cui punta la Toscana per diventare sempre di più meta d’eccellenza nel panorama europeo ed internazionale. Fiesole, assieme ad altri nove comuni della Toscana, è stata scelta come sede di un Osservatorio che, affiancato da un Forum permanente composto da rappresentanti della Regione, Provincia, Università, cittadini, categorie eco-nomiche, culturali ed ambientali, dovrà riflettere sui modelli di sviluppo tu-ristico, economico e culturale del proprio territorio cercando di coniugare l’ambiziosa relazione tra sostenibilità e competitività secondo dieci temi strategici– qualità della vita dei residenti e dei turisti, qualità del lavoro, de-stagionalizzazione, tutela attiva del patrimonio culturale ed ambientale, tute-la attiva dell’identità dei luoghi, utilizzo ottimale delle risorse energetiche ed idriche, riduzione dei rifiuti e migliore gestione degli stessi . Fiesole, proponendo questi itinerari, intende far conoscere, valorizzare e nel contempo tutelare uno dei suoi elementi più forti di identità e di di-stinzione: il paesaggio e l’ambiente che hanno segnato profondamente la propria storia antica e recente. Percorrere questi itinerari significa calarsi in un cammino di storia, di arte, di cultura che dialoga, interagisce e si equilibria perfettamente con uno stupefacente paesaggio rurale e urbano.
