with Jacki Rumpp

We are delighted to an-

nounce that Jacki Rumpp will

return — bringing her guitar with

her — to the Center for Potluck

this month!

Jacki has been here twice

before: last Christmas, and she

also led the National Anthem for

us at our Independence celebra-

tion in July.

Jacki has a great voice,

and she always invites us to sing

along if we want. It promises to

be a fun, if not downright warm and

fuzzy afternoon.

Join us for some holiday cheer

at Birthday Potluck this December 17.

Lunch is at 11:30, and Jacki

will begin about noon.

The Center provides the main

course. Please bring a side dish.

DEC. 17: A MERRY BIRTHDAY POTLUCK

HOLIDAY SONGS WITH JACKI RUMPP

We return to the Bluebird Café this month for a

nice set by a Nashville songwriter. We never know who

is going to sing — but we’ve never been disappointed!

We’ll probably stop for lunch in Franklin, if we’re

hungry after donuts at the Bluebird.

The van will leave the Center at 8:30 sharp! Van

fee is $6.

MUSIC, COFFEE & BREAKFAST PASTRY

AT THE BLUEBIRD THURSDAY, DEC. 11

The Red Hat Society has a custom of visiting residents at Southern Care

Assisted Living in December, passing out Christmas cards and singing Christmas

carols. We plan to go on December 3. This is a sweet and meaningful little trip.

We’ll stop for lunch on the way back.

The van leaves the Center at 9:30. Van fee is $4.

We have it on good au-

thority that the place to go for hol-

iday spirit in our community is

Gloria O’Steen’s

home. The word is

that Gloria’s displays

are a true Christmas

delight, with every-

thing from white San-

tas with turquoise and

silver, to Hallmark, Barbie and

Star Wars trees!

We are honored this year

with an invitation to join Gloria

for an afternoon tea at 1 o’clock

on Monday, Dec. 15. She sug-

gests that we have only a light

lunch beforehand, because she

will have snacks to go with the

tea. She will also have

coffee and water.

Reservations are

required and the dead-

line to sign up is Thurs-

day, Dec. 11. If there

are more than 12 people

who want to go, some folks will

need to drive themselves or car-

pool to Gloria’s. We’ll figure that

out as we go along.

Van leaves the Center at

12:45. Van fee is: $2.

A big thank you to all our

volunteer bakers and cooks who

helped make our Pancake Break-

fast and Bake Sale successful.

We made around $950 that will

benefit the programs at FiftyFor-

ward College Grove. We could

not have done it without the work

of our dedicated volunteers.

There is still one month

left to renew or join the center at

a discounted price of $70 through

Dec. 31, 2014. If you wait until

the first of the year, membership

cost is $75.

Please take time to see

what great trips Libby has

planned for the center in Decem-

ber. Do you enjoy holiday mu-

sic? Then make sure to join us

for Birthday Potluck on the third

Wednesday.

If you have not already

purchased a copy of the College

Grove History book that was pub-

lished a few years ago, it would

make a great Christmas gift for

only $55.

Wishing everyone Happy

Holidays!

Sarah

INCLEMENT WEATHER POLICY In the event that Williamson County Schools are closed due to inclement weather:

the Center will open two hours late, at 10 a.m.

all trips and programs with instructors (like fitness, Bible, and art) will be cancelled.

informal Center activities (like card playing) will be a matter of discretion.

Be safe. When in doubt, call the Center: 368.7093

Sarah is registered at Target. We’ll have cake and punch.

Please write down your best piece of advice for our new mom!

Do you remember when

holidays were a simpler time of

family and tradition? Some things

just aren’t the way they used to be.

Heather McCarl, of

Belvedere Commons, will look at

ways to beat the holiday blues and

creative ways to connect with

our generations past and

future. She will also bring a

small door prize to give away.

All of the FiftyForward

Centers are participating in a toy &

gift drive for the children of veterans

from Nashville Vet Center.

The center serves 75 to 80

Tennessee Combat Veterans and

their families. The gift drive benefits

only the children of these veterans.

Suggestions for gifts include:

socks, gloves, stocking caps

toys and games

Hot Wheels and Legos

Our collection of gifts will be

Monday, Dec. 8.

The George Shinn

Foundation is inviting seniors to

have lunch at its “Seniors’

Christmas Shinndig” on Friday,

Dec. 19, at Lipscomb

University’s Allen Arena.

In addition to a very nice

luncheon,

there will

be music

from

Jeannie

Seeley,

Jimmy

Wayne

and Buddy

Jewell. Plus, door prizes and lots

of giveaways. This will be a fun

afternoon — and it’s FREE!!

Seating is limited and the
