Figline Valdarno is a small town in Tuscany with a population of about 17,000 inhabitants. Figline is crossed by the Arno river and it is not far from some of the most beautiful art cities in Italy, like Florence and Siena.

Criteri generali In Figline you can visit some interesting monuments, like for example the Garibaldi theatre and the Collegiata Santa Maria church.

The Garibaldi Theatre was built by the «Accademia dei Ristori» based on a project of Architect Angelo Pierralini and it was opened in 1871.

The theatre was seriously damaged during the First and the Second World War and it was closed in 1957.Later, the theatre was bought by the Town Hall and, after restorations, it was reopened in 1995, becoming one of the most important theatres of Valdarno area.

COLLEGIATA SANTA MARIA

The Collegiata Santa Maria is in Marsilio Ficino Square in Figline,

it was built in 1252

It is a gothic church changed into the barocco style,

on the main façade there is a loggia with round arches

Every year, in Marsilio Ficino square, there is a flag-waving exhibition. The flag weavers are called:Sbandieratori dei Borghi e Sestieri Fiorentini. They

are a really famous weavers group from Tuscany.
