Underneath it’s a knee-length jersey fourreau cut at bustline, with mid back zip. Two horizontal darts shape the waist in back, while the bodice splits into two wide shoulder straps that cross the nape to form a V in front and leave the back bare. Sewn on the inside, only partially visible, is a black lace veiled/trimmed padded fleshtone Lycra bra with two narrow black rat-tail straps. The skirt, in two cuts, has a high upside-down V front slit with round edges. Sewn onto the bottom back of the fourreau are three wide tulle flounces, as well as a zebra stripe muslin one with another tulle flounce on top. Another four flounces (again, three in tulle and one in muslin) are sewn along the front slit, mid bodice and neckline. All of the flounces have raw edges and thick pleating. On the lower back part of the fourreau two double jersey ribbons knot in a bow, with ends gracing the short train that is formed by the lavish flounces. One theme of this collection is jersey, where the designer experiments with the material’s endless possibilities to create perfectly light and glamorous dresses. In particular, for evening the ever supple knit fabric features animal prints and – like here – joins forces with layers of plisse tulle that, as Ferré writes in the press release, “ripple upward and transform the gown into the shadow, at once opulent and insubstantial, of a forest animal.” Partially masking the classic curvaceous siren silhouette are the spectacular flounces that envelop the body, offering a mere glimpse of the back. 40 (8) Designer Collection Season Year Label Inventory Materials Working processes Description Remarks Bibliography Exhibitions Acquisition Author of file Size Sources Picture Object Look Pg. # 1 Printed on 2-9-2010 © Fondazione Gianfranco Ferré - All rights reserved

Gorgeous evening gown. Underneath it’s a knee-length jersey fourreau cut at bustline, with mid back zip. Two horizontal darts shape the waist in back, while the bodice splits into two wide shoulder straps that cross the nape to form a V in front and leave the back bare. Sewn on the inside, only partially visible, is a black lace veiled/trimmed padded fleshtone Lycra brawith two narrow black rat-tail straps.

In particular, for evening the ever supple knit fabric features animal prints and – like here – joins forces with layers of plisse tulle that, as Ferré writes in the press release, “ripple upward and transform the gowninto the shadow, at once opulent and insubstantial, of a forest animal.” Partially masking the classic curvaceous siren silhouette are the spectacular flounces that envelop the body, offering a mere glimpse of the back.
