Competition Guidelines Submission: Your film must have a narrative. Capital Tales is the theme selected for this year with Brent as the background. Film Brent in 90 Seconds competition is only open to people who live or work in Brent of all ages. The primary contact for the film must be the individual who is named in the application form and be resident or working in the London Borough of Brent. Films can be submitted from the 1 st March 2011 and the deadline for entries is 15 th  April 2011. No late submissions will be considered. We will select the best film in each age category (5-11, 12-15, 15-18, 19-25 and over 25) Each winner will be given a certificate. All winners will have their film shown at the launch party at The Gallery at Willesden Green on Thursday 19 th May 2011 at 7pm. The winner will be announced at the launch party. All films must be submitted via YouTube. Please see instructions below. You may submit up to two films only. Films (up to a maximum of two) must be accompanied by a completed signed application form scanned and emailed to [email protected] or posted to the address below. Submitted films without a form will not be accepted. Only films completed since August 2010 may be submitted. We strongly encourage film-makers to make a film specifically for this competition, rather than submit an older project or re-edit a longer project to fit the 90 second limit. We strongly recommend the submitted film is NOT shown online in other sites (e.g. Facebook or Myspace) before the results of the competition are announced. Length, Genre and Format The length of your film must not exceed 90 seconds including titles and credits. (please note you MUST include the title in your film, but the use of credits is optional).

• Film Brent in 90 Seconds accepts films of any form (e.g. fiction, documentary,experimental, animation) or any combination of these. The competition is not open tofilms advertising products or services.

• Films can be made on any format (e.g. Mobile phones, Digital Video, Film).

All films must be able to be viewed on a computer or dvd player and therefore shouldbe playable on a standard DVD or submitted either as a .mov file (quicktime movie file)a Window’s Media file (.wmv) an .avi or .mkv files.

Copyright, Credits and License

• The person submitting the film must be the person named in the completed applicationform and must have gained the necessary permissions for the use of any copyrightedmusic and / or copyrighted images used within the film. We strongly recommendyou include only original music and sound during your film. For an explanationabout copyright, what it is, and obtaining permissions do read this article:

• By submitting a film to the competition you automatically grant the London Borough of Brent, Brent Artists Resource and Film London permission to exhibit the film on a non-exclusive basis whereby the film can be shown by the London Borough of Brent, BrentArtists Resource and Film London in connection with this competition, without either the London Borough of Brent, Brent Artists Resource or Film London requiring to seekfurther permissions.

• The London Borough of Brent, Brent Artists Resource and Film London will require acredit on your film, should you be selected as the best of your borough. You do nothave to include a credit for either the London Borough of Brent, Brent Artists Resource

or Film London when submitting your film, but be aware that a credit will be required tobe added later for exhibition purposes.

Selection and Prize 

• Your film will be judged by London Borough of Brent, Brent Artists Resource, filmprofessionals and Film London representatives.

• The winning film in the London Borough of Brent will be awarded a cash prize of £500.

• The winning film from each participating Borough will be judged by a panel of filmindustry professionals who will choose one overall winner as part of the annual Best of Borough Awards arranged solely by Film London. The winning film will be screened aspart of this celebration.

Instructions to submit short films via YouTube

There is a two-step process for video entries:
