The Victory Bell In 1995, Coe started the tradition of first-year students ringing the Victory Bell when they commence to their opening convocation . The bell is rung again four years later, at graduation, to celebrate the successful completion of a degree . The Victory Bell is symbolic in that it stands for what Coe has achieved in the past and hopes to achieve in the future . Its very name is synonymous with achievement, not only in the field of athletics, but in academics and the betterment of Coe as well .

Dragonboat RacingDragonboat racing is a 20-year-old tradition at Coe started in 1995 and has been a part of Orientation Week since. These long, dragon shaped, human-powered watercrafts are intended to bring people together in the spirit of teamwork. Groups must learn to paddle together to the beat of the drum in order to successfully navigate the waters. Enjoy taking part in this tradition and remember, you are only as strong as your weakest paddler.
