Tips for Receiving Funding from The Home Depot A longtime supporter of The American Legion, The Home Depot Foundation announced in August that it would continue its commitment by investing $1 million in projects that make necessary improvements to American Legion facilities and the homes of Legionnaires across the country. There are two options for accessing these funds. Please be sure to only apply for one grant at a time. These are competitive processes. Please understand that funding is not guaranteed. For consideration, application must come from a Post that is in good standing with The American Legion. COMMUNITY IMPACT GRANTS TEAM DEPOT GRANTS What Is It? Provides up to $5,000 in Home Depot gift cards for a project to be completed by The American Legion volunteers. Team Depot volunteers are not involved in these projects, but these grants are a great option for engaging your Legionnaires and community. Funds volunteer projects that utilize Team Depot, The Home Depot’s associateled volunteer force, and volunteers from your American Legion Post. What Projects Might Qualify? Construction of a ramp at a veteran’s home Critical home repair for a veteran Beautification of an American Legion Post Painting and/or landscaping Installing new ceiling tiles Replacing ceiling fans Replacing flooring in a room or two What Projects Would NOT Qualify? × Projects that do not benefit a veteran or veteran’s organization × Projects without enough volunteers to complete × Projects applied for by anyone other than a 501c3 or 501c19 in good standing with the IRS × Roof repair × HVAC × Structural changes × Electrical and/or plumbing work × Anything requiring permits How Do I Get Started? 1. Gather your paperwork – You’ll need your 501c19 letter or most recent Form 990 and a copy of your general liability insurance. 2. Visit homedepotfoundation.org/page/grants to learn more about Community Impact Grants and apply online. 3. Be patient – It is a competitive grant process and all paperwork will be thoroughly reviewed prior to approval. 1. Determine the three to five Team Depot friendly projects for which you would like to request funding. 2. Gather your paperwork – You’ll need your 501c19 letter or most recent Form 990 and a copy of your general liability insurance. 3. Visit your local The Home Depot store and ask to speak to a Team Depot Captain or member of the management team about your proposed project. 4. Pending support from your Team Depot Captain, work with your store team to complete a grant application online. 5. Be patient –Team Depot Captains are store associates who volunteer on their time off and cannot always schedule an immediate site visit.
