I would like to dedicate this book to Skyler, my 1st

grade buddy who gave me the privilege of being able

to catch a glimpse of his wonderful imagination,

which without with, the making of this story would

    not be possible.

Once upon a time, there was a boy named

Skyler who lived in the forest with his family

who had lived in the forest for generations.

The boys father was the protector of the for-

est, and ever since the boy was young, his fa-ther had taught him the ways of protecting

the animals and feeding them so that they

    could grow.

Skyler grew up to be a strong, smart, and kind boy who loved

the forest. The forest loved him back and saw that he would

grow up to be just like his father, so the spirits of the forest gave

the power of super strength and the ability of speaking to the

    animals just like his father.

One morning, Skyler awoke to a gathering of animals surrounding his father. All of them

    crying and complaining.

Someone stole our corn! the chickens shouted.

Someone stole our acorns! the squirrels remarked.

All the animals were crowding around Skylers father. We shall find the one who did

this, declared in Skylers father. The animals went back to their homes, grumbling.

Dad, what happened? Why is all the food missing? asked Skyler.

Someone took it, son, his dad answered.

But who can evil enough to take it?

I know who did it. It was Mojojojo, the monkey. My arch-enemy! You have to go after

him, Skyler. I am old and I cannot serve the forest like I used to.

But I cant. Im not strong like you, cried Skyler.

Yes, you are, his father said hugging him, and with that, he gave Skyler his magic wand

which contained the powers of the forest.

Skyler went back to his cabin and started packing for the journey ahead.

Morning came and his parents and cousins met him outside the cabin.

He hugged them all. His mother and some of his cousins cried.

Ill be back, Skyler said, forcing a smile. And with that, he headed off to

    the lair of Mojojojo.

Skylar had made his way across the cow field when suddenly he heard a rustling in the bushes behind him. It was Ashley!

Ashley was Skylers cousin and she had the power of super speed.

Why are you here? You cant go with me, Skylar said, surprised.

You can talk all you want, but Im not letting you go alone, Ashley said, grinning.

Fine, sighed Skyler who was happy in the inside, and the two walked on.

Skylar and Ashley walked on until they reached the rainforest.

Skyler and Ashley walked along the narrow road between thetrees silently, trying not to make any noise.

Suddenly, from the trees, a group of monkeys sprang out of no-

where. They surrounded Skyler and Ashley and there was no-

    where to go.

Skyler used the abilities the forest spirits gave him to call the squirrels to

their aid. A dray of squirrels came out the bushes and started chasing and

biting the monkeys, but the monkeys were too fast. The squirrels grew tired

    and retreated.

There are too many! Skyler shouted.

Suddenly, the branches of the trees around them grabbed the monkeys. The

forest had come to their aid! Skyler thanked the forest spirits and the two

went on. The lair was in sight.

When they had arrived, Mojojojo was already waiting outside his lair. Skyler and Ashley were ready, but a horde of

monkeys were now appearing around them.

We cant fight them all! shouted Ashley. Ill distract them while you deal with Mojojojo. With that, Ashley used

her speed to run and the monkeys came chasing after her. Skyler had to face Mojojojo alone now.

The two glared at each other.

In a flash of a second, punches and kicks were being blindly thrown into the air until both of them were tired. Skyler

remembered the magic wand his dad gave him and he took it out. With a flick of the wrist, Mojojojo disappeared

    into the air.

Skylar journeyed back home with the food of the animals that he carried on his back, as

he was strong. He was welcomed by his family with tears of joy and relief. Even Ashley

was there. She had outran the monkeys, like Skyler knew she would.

You have made me proud son, his dad said.

Skyler smiled and from that day on, he was named the protector of the forest.

Skyler was a boy who lived in the forest with

his family and his father was the protector of

the forest. One day, Mojojojo, the arch-enemy

of Skylers father stole the food of the animals.

Skyler had to go after him. His dad was not as

strong as he was before. Skyler makes heads

off on his journey and, along the way, discov-

ers his best friend, Ashley, has been followinghim all along. The two make their way to the

lair and encounter many troubles along the

way, but in the end, Skyler emerges victorious

over Mojojojo and reclaims the food of the for-

    est animals.
