ONLINE
OFFLINE
This is a presentation I gave a little while ago on the blurring of online and offline. In the last couple of months this has gathered pace so it has been updated with new examples.

What is this?
Slide Notes are below
}I decided to do a little experiment and count my Facebook Friends
I have 456 FACEBOOK FRIENDS
These 50 green men represent my Facebook “friends”
I have talked to
in the last year *
167
*Face to face
I have talked to
at some point, but not in the last year
223
I have never talked to
of them
51
And the remaining 15 “friends”?
I have no idea who they are
We Spend more time
online than ever before}
120 million
people log onto
Facebook once a day
And its becoming an
addiction} 48%
women would rather give up sex than
the internet
But we are increasingly aware of
the negatives
of an online life
}
And we are experimenting with ways to fit the web
into our lives
We are re-evaluating the importance of
experiences
We are taking online into the
real world
We are connecting up our objects
We are adding a layer of information onto
our lives
And demanding reality
“Technology only becomes socially
interesting when it becomes
technologically boring”
