Dear AGS Friends and Families,

The 2017-2018 school year was indeed a Bold year for Atlanta Girls’ School! As we began the first day of school with our annual opening assembly, I revealed the theme for the year—Be Bold! As we celebrated our 18th year, your involvement and support allowed AGS to serve 250 students from more than 60 zip codes. Your contributions supported over 70 students with financial aid, assisting more than 28% of our student body.

We applauded the success of the class of 2018. These 29 confident and successful young women secured over 5.5 million dollars in scholarships and grants to the over 77 colleges where they were accepted. Our biggest accomplishment for the year was completed with much support from you as our donor community. Together, we were able to successfully complete five major facility enhancements: expanding the Middle School dining room, renovating the Upper School Commons, adding four STEAM modular classrooms, renovating the Presentation Room, and repositioning the front entrance and lobby. I am thrilled to share that the AGS community (including families, friends, alumnae, faculty/staff, Trustees, foundations, and corporations) came together to contribute a total of $795,191 toward the success of the 2017-2018 school year.

My charge to the AGS community members during this year was to be bold, resilient, and tenacious in all aspects of their lives. I think you all lived up to this charge, as you generously gave of your time, talents, and treasures to ensure that AGS remains the best place for girls and fulfills the mission of Inspiring Girls to Lead Lives of Purpose.

Cheers,

Yanni

The AGS community has a strong tradition of supporting the Annual Fud. We are grateful to the more than 360 donors who contributed to Atlanta Girls’ School during the 2017-18 school year. Each year the AGS Annual Fund secures much-needed funds for the school, making up 14% of the school’s annual budget. Through the enhancement of signature programs, professional development for faculty, STEAM programming, campus enhancements, athletic and arts initiatives, and financial aid support, the Annual Fund impacts every area of campus life.

Thank you for your support of the 2018 AGS Auction! We are grateful to the many generous individuals and businesses who contributed items for the silent and live auctions, and for our sponsors. Thanks to you we raised more than $269,000. Through the Paddle Raise we raised $103,500 to renovate our Upper School Commons.

Guests enjoyed the spectacular views of the Georgia Aquarium ballroom throughout the evening. The energy in the room and support shown for Atlanta Girls’ School was wonderful. Bogey and

the Viceroy closed down the evening by getting everyone on the dance floor to celebrate the success of the event. Our deepest thanks go out to our Auction Committee superstars who spent countless hours behind the scenes planning the event. Thank you to Jackie & Jeff Chiusano P’22 and Elizabeth & Shane Hornbuckle P’22, our amazing co-chairs, Jayme Alilaw, Lauren Arnaud P’21, Caroline Cooley P’22, Abbie Gulson P’24, Robin King P’20, Amanda La Kier P’22 and P’25, Jennifer Mitchell P’19, Rachel Mountain P’24, Catherine Tolbert P’20, Amy Wheeler P’19.

Atlanta Girls’ School celebrated the end of our 18th academic year by breaking ground on four major facilities enhancement projects that will serve students and the community for years to come. These plans have been years in the making and took into account the needs of our curious and bright student body, our exceptional faculty and staff, our vibrant parent community, as well as our future growth needs. As guests arrive at AGS through our now ADA-accessible entrance they enjoy a renovated reception area. Students gather in the updated Presentation Room for meetings with the 100 plus college representatives who visit campus

each year. Parents and students may visit the expanded Spirit Wear Store, now located in the main lobby. Middle School and Upper School students now have expanded gathering spaces being used for a variety of purposes, including dining, division meetings, flexible classroom spaces, and more. The Middle School Dining Hall and Upper School Commons are equipped with storage, flexible furniture, and annexed areas that allow for both full gatherings or more intimate meetings to occur. Students are now learning in four state-of-the-art STEAM laboratories

equipped for questioning and collaborating. From predicting the unknown variables in kinematics equations in the Physics lab to exploring the fermentation process of yeast in the Middle School lab, students are engaging hands-on with the scientific process from beginning to end. Our incredible donor community made these plans a reality. As part of the AGS Auction 2018 last spring, donors raised their paddles high to contribute more than $103,000 to support the redesign of the Upper School Commons. The Atlanta Girls’ School Board of Trustees, Former Trustees, and community members generously lead the way with their donations to make these projects a reality. These improvements to the Atlanta Girls’ School campus will help the school continue to grow and ensure that the mission of Inspiring Girls to Lead Lives of Purpose is a living and breathing commitment made by each member of our community in every space of our building every day.
