EFFECTIVE USE OF HYPERION

› Hyperion works with IE6 and IE7. A patch has been recently released to support IE8. We are going to test this in the development environment soon.

› Hyperion works with Firefox 3.5.x. We hope that the patch for IE8 will allow support for 3.6 but this is unclear from the documentation. This will part of the testing.

›  If you have a higher version of IE or Firefox, please contact the helpdesk for advice.

› Hyperion does not support any Mac browsers. You need to use citrix.

›  Performance has improved slightly since we recently changed a maximum connection setting for the web server

›  Limited SUGLQ106 to T2 data ›  There are still issues at peak times. Please report these to the help desk. ›  Essbase and Planning cubes moved to new servers.

Performance

›  Security is RC node based. If you restructure your RC tree or rename nodes, security needs to be reviewed. Please liaise with FMA.

Security

EFFECTIVE USE OF HYPERION

›  Established earlier this year. ›  Broad purpose of this group is to identify the standard financial management

reporting needs across the University and provide a mechanism for user feedback on financial report requirements.

›  Desired outcomes are focused around delivering a concise and comprehensive suite of Hyperion Financial Management Reports that is delivered directly from Hyperion utilising the PeopleSoft Chart of Accounts.

›  Chaired by Financial Management and Analysis and representatives from Faculties and Professional Service areas sit on the group to present each area’s needs and contribute to knowledge sharing.

EFFECTIVE USE OF HYPERION

1.  Always ensure Preview User Point of View is ON. File – Preferences – Financial Reporting.

2.  You can directly type in your selections in Preview User Point of View or choose Select to search. 3.  Always check your User Selection after your report has run to ensure the correct parameters were

chosen. 4.  There are two options to change the report parameters once a report has run – Top ribbon menu or

Preview User Point of View on left hand side. Use the Preview User Point of View if you want to change more than one field.

5.  The month displayed in the Grid POV will default to the last closed month. This can be changed. 6.  If you change a selection in the PDF view and then go back to HTML the “grey” expansion triangles

disappear. Hit REFRESH to display them again.

7.  Related Content drilldown is available on SUGLR545, SUGLR545A, SUGLR047. The full functionality of Query/Interactive Reporting is now available including View – Data Layout.
