DEPCO Systems and RF Code, Inc. today announced that DEPCO Systems has received an ID People Award for “Best InnovativeSolution for Mobile Asset Tracking.” The award, given to DEPCO at ID World in Abu Dhabi, was based on an implementation at theUniversity of Najran in which DEPCO’s Trail-AMS asset tracking solution, together with RF Code’s active RFID technology, wasdeployed to monitor and track the University’s assets across its buildings and campuses.
Asset Trail-AMS is an asset tracking solution for large organizations that leverages data generated by RF Code’s active RFID tags andreaders to track asset movement and location in real-time.
“Our system is fully compliant with the requirements of the Ministry of Higher education in Saudi Arabia for accurate inventory andownership tracking,” said DEPCO CEO Edwin Chikhani. “Asset Trail, combined with RF Code, provides the most complete, real-timeasset tracking solution available in the Middle East.”

About the Award-Winning Najran University Deployment
Najran University in Saudi Arabia was looking to improve its asset tracking across its 21 campuses in Najran and Sharoura so it couldreduce its costs related to missing, lost or stolen assets. It turned to DEPCO Systems to help. Phase 1 of the project involved trackingassets for eight campuses, which included 16 buildings housing some 23,000 tagged assets. In addition to installing close to 50readers, DEPCO also employed handheld readers, to provide mobility in monitoring and tracking. Close to 135 RTLS locators werealso installed.
As the award notes, using the DEPCO/RF Code solution, the University has not only reduced the amount of “missing” inventory, butalso now has a more reliable and accurate real-time asset tracking, lifecycle management and asset inventory process for theuniversity’s fixed and mobile assets.
Phase 2 is underway now. Security, integration to access control systems, and fleet management are among the new applications thatwill be added to the initial installation.
