ABOUT THE COURSEThe World has witnessed an unprecedentedpandemic due to COVID-19. This is probablythe first time that most of the countries aroundthe world were forced to implement completeor partial lockdown for a shorter or longerperiod in order to prevent the spread of novelCoronavirus.Soon after the lockdown was implemented,several media houses reported the increasedcases of violence against women and children.India has witnessed one of the biggest internalmigration of workers from cities such as Delhi,Mumbai, Chennai etc. Countries hosting largenumber of refugees have been facing structuralproblem of governance in preventing COVID-19in refugee camps. Moreover, the responsibilityof international organisation such as the WorldHealth Organisation and the United Nationshave increased whereas former deals withglobal health and later with international lawand politics. The global cooperation to fight thischallenging time is essential to maintaininternational peace and security and, therefore,the Security Council of the United Nationspassed a resolution for an immediate globalceasefire.
This first Virtual Summer Course, 2020organised by Indian Society for Legal Research(ISRL) will endeavour to explore a range ofissue on COVID-19 and International LegalSystem such as the responsibility of States,international trade, refugee crisis and migrationproblems, the responsibility of internationalorganisations in helping third world countriesetc. This summer course will also explore theglobal practices and how different States havebeen maintaining law and order and protectingthe human rights of its people during thelockdown. All the issue will be discussed withreference to the current situation of thepandemic.
