INSTRUCTIONS REMOVING TRIM Open the hood Move the seat into a position which enables access to the main seat belt shoulder strap lower torx bolt. Undo this bolt using a torx bit size 50. You may find it easier to unbolt the seat from the car – this is done by undoing the 4 torx bolts, 2 at the front and 2 at the rear of the seat. Remove the screws in the seat belt guide plastic surrounds Remove the three screws that hold the tonneau clips in the top of the rubberised trim section The rubberised trim section is held in with popper studs that you cannot see. Pull the trim forwards. This may require some force but gradual pressure only should be exerted. The trim section will then lift off. Turn the trim over to expose the back of the seat belt guide clips which then need pushing through from the back. You may need a screwdriver just to gently prise the clips and release the guide. Feed the seat belt through the hole in the trim and remove the trim from the car. At this stage we would recommend re-assembling the seat belt bolt and associated washers for safe keeping. Undo the four M6 bolts that hold the original metal bar and speaker mounting box using a 10mm socket and ratchet. Roll the speaker box forward so exposing the speaker connection. Undo this connection and remove the speaker box from the car.

Put the hood back up and remove the carpet from the rear parcel shelf /engine bay. This has to be done from inside the car. Remove the clips holding the back of the hood down and from outside the car, lift the rear section of the hood so exposing the engine bay area from the outside. If the hood has not been lifted for a long time, it may be quite stiff and you should prise one side and then the other rather than forcing the hood from one side. The next operation is to remove the seat belt inertial reels. Undo the torx bolts using the same torx tool as previously. Remove the sound deadening sheet from the engine bay area. Again, like the hood, gently ease both sides independently to avoid damaging the sheet. Remove from the car completely. FITTING THE MAIN SUPPORT BEAM Place the main beam in position in the car. Fit the 2 M6 x 25mm bolts with flat washers through the top of the beam into the threaded bushes in the cars seat belt support towers. Centralise the beam before tightening ensure that the torx bolt that will hold the inertia reel back in position has clear passage onto its thread. Tighten the M6 bolts. Reposition the seat belt reel ENSURING THAT THE SMALL TAG SITS COMFORTABLY IN ITS SLOT IN THE MAIN SUPPORT BEAM BRACKET – THIS IS A SAFETY CRITICAL ITEM SO BE SURE THAT THE TAG IS IN THE SLOT. Fit but do not tighten the torx bolts, checking all the time that the tag is in the slot. If necessary, reposition the small plastic flap that sits over the reel. Repeat operation for both sides! SWAPPING SPEAKERS FROM BOXES TO SUPPLIED MOUNTING PLATES Undo the four M4 screws holding the speakers in the original equipment boxes.

Pull the speaker out and unclip the wires from the back – remembering which side is which – on this example, the brown and red wires are on the passenger side of the car. Remove the clip that holds the speaker wires onto the speaker box beam by squeezing with pliers or similar. Using the original M4 set screws, washers and the nyloc nuts provided, fit the speakers to the front face of the new speaker mounts. Do not over tighten any one corner. Ensure all four corners are tight not so tight that they bend the speaker – the speakers are supposed to sit proud of the mounts. Fit the mounts to the front face of the beams and fix using the four M4 screws provided. Repeat the operation for both sides. You may need to gently push the mounts back slightly so that they are in line with the cars bulkhead. Remove the speaker wires from the original box. Prise the grommet out of the box and feed the wires through the hole. You will probably need to take the sound deadening foam of the wires in order to be able to extract them. Re-attach the wires ensuring that you have reconnected the wires to the correct side of the car. If you wish to double check, plug the speaker connectors back together and just adjust the balance on your stereo left and right. It is theoretically not possible to mix + and – as the clips are different sizes but please ensure that this is correct! Fit the speaker wire connector plug into the hole in the base of the beam and reconnect the plugs (you may have already done this above). BACK TO FITTING THE MAIN SUPPORT BEAM Take the angled brackets with the bushes welded and place in the holes in the seat belt towers under the main support beam. For the time being these simply rest in position.

MODIFYING THE TRIM With the upturned trim we need to chisel away a small section to allow the trim to sit down onto the main cross beam. Using a small template and mark the trim as shown in the photo.

Once you have marked the trim carefully start to chisel away the material. Chisel down to the depth of the original indentation where the fixing screw comes through the trim. Apply masking tape to the top surface of the trim. The purpose of this is two fold, it allows you to mark the cutting points for the next operation but also helps reduce the damage to the trim when hole-sawing. Using the template provided, mark the drilling points for the hole-saw. Cut holes as shown using the 46mm saw. REPLACING THE TRIM Replace the trim into the car, with the hood up. Pass the seat belt shoulder straps back through their holes in the trim (you will need to remove the stored bolts). Fold the hood back and push the trim into position clipping the pop studs back into their positions. The outer edges of the trim will probably need some assistance to tuck them back into place behind the side trims. Ensure that the pop studs clip back into position. FITTING THE HOOPS Place the hoop into the holes with the cut out on the outside. The hoops lean forward slightly. If you have finishing rings, don’t forget to put these on now. Lift the hood forward into the upright position and pull the back of the hood up to expose the hoops from behind.

Fit the M8 x 25 set screw and washer and the “bushed bracket” we placed in position earlier into the outer base of the hoop through the hole in the main support beam. Repeat for both hoops but do not tighten at this stage. Fit the M10 set screw and washer to the inner hoop leg. Again, repeat for both hoops but do not tighten at this stage. THIS OPERATION WILL PROBABLY BE QUITE FIDDLY AS YOU LINE UP THE BOLTS AND HOLES – BE PATIENT, THEY WILL FIT !!!! Now tighten these four hoop bolts. Tighten the seat belt inertia reel torx bolts. Refit the sound deadening ensuring that it is pushed down into the corners of the engine bay area. Be sure to pull the heated rear screen wire through the deadening so that it is accessible once the car is reassembled. Ensure that the hood clips are also all accessible. Replace the rear carpet loosely into the car and lower the rear hood section amking sure the clips are still accessible. Lower the rear hood section and from inside the car, do up the hood retaining clips and tuck the carpet back into position. Lower the hood and replace the tonneau cover screws. You may need a small flat head screwdriver or similar to just move the spire clips under the trim into position for these screws to fit into. Replace the seat belt plastic guides and reattach the lower seat belt torx bolts. Replace the seats if removed. Stand back and admire your work!!!
