As per UHX 13.7, There is a provision to reduce shell/channel stresses by reducing youngs modulus. This calculation is not being performed in PVElite / Code Calc. Will you please tell me if i want to do this calculation in PVElite/Code Calc, what are the options available? But, I think you are referring to the Elastic-Plastic iteration. This is automatically performed by PV Elite and CodeCalc if the stress at the junction fails. This check is only performed for pressure only cases which are cases 1-3. So, look at the detailed printout of these cases. _________________________ Best Regards, Mandeep Singh Intergraph CADWorx & Analysis Solutions Inc. Dear Mandeep,

I have a doubt regarding Fixed Tubesheet Calculationas per ASME Sec VIII Div I Part UHX.

As per UHX 13.7, There is a provision to reduceshell/channel stresses by reducing youngs modulus.

This calculation is not being performed in PVElite /Code Calc.

Will you please tell me if i want to do this calculation inPVElite/Code Calc, what are the options available?

For U Tubesheet analysis in PVElite / Code Calc, it asksadditional input for U-Tubesheet, this input is the finalstep of U-Tubesheet calculation as per UHX & includeselastic-plastic analysis. The same is also applicable toFixed tubesheet & floating tubesheet but PVElite / CodeCalc do not ask additional input for these cases.

Can you please throw some light here.

The design of fixed and floating tubesheets is morecomplicated than the U-tube tubesheets. For thesekind of tubesheets, Elastic-Plastic analysis is the onlyoption available to reduce the tubesheet-cylinderjunction stress. That is why we did not ask for it.Elastic-Plastic iteration is performed automatically ifneeded.

For U-tube, you can choose to increase the tubesheetthickness or the cylinder thickness or perform Elastic-Plastic analysis to reduce the junction stress.

In future we also plan to introduce another option, theSimply-supported tubesheet design, as an alternativeoption to Elastic-Plastic iteration. Then, we will haveto ask the users for it.
