Walk In The Way Of The Lord

Leadership Mass

At our all-school Mass on September 6th, the eighth-graders were commissioned as

the new leaders of our school. Father led the school community in a communal

blessing of the eighth grade class

during a candle ceremony where

we prayed that they be “positive

role models and faithful followers

of Your Son, Jesus Christ.”

Flag Ceremony

On Monday, September 11th, St. Joseph School held a prayer

service in remembrance of 9/11. We remember all those that lost

their lives on that tragic day in history on September 11th, 2001.

We also continue to keep in our prayers the people who serve our

country whether they be in the military, law enforcement or fire

fighters. We pray that God watches over them and protects them

from harms way.

St. Joseph Parents, I just wanted to share my experience returning to St. Joes Service Club meeting this last Wednesday. It was such a heartwarming experience as I watched the many students enter the room. Some were new students who were interested in joining and others were returning for the fourth year. We had 26 students at the meeting and a handful who couldn’t make this meeting. WOW! I think that’s the most we’ve ever had in my 22 some years of offering Service Club. (My son Danny was in the first year and he’s now 32 years old.) It was even more impressive to see the number of 8th graders involved and noting that 7th graders who only had a half day of school came back for the meeting! They were so respectful and engaged in the information they received. What a great way to start a new year serving others! Mrs. S. (Margaret Solberg)

Magazine Sale-something new this year! This year, we will be handling our magazine sale a bit differently. We will be taking orders and renewals online throughout the year. We will be able to earn an extra 10% profit by doing all of

our ordering online. Please see the flyers included in this newsletter for information on how to reach out to both new and former customers. Proceeds from the magazine sale

will go toward tuition abatement.

Thanks for supporting this important fundraiser!

With Whom Will You Share Jesus? In the Gospel of Matthew, Jesus directly asks Peter, “But who do you say that I am?” And Peter correctly identifies Jesus in his response, “You are the Messiah, the son of the living God” (Matthew, 16:16). Jesus assures Peter in the Gospel of Luke, saying, “Do not be afraid; from now on you will be catching men (Luke 5:10). What if Jesus asked you? What would your response be? Do we fear sharing Jesus with others?

Jesus calls us just as he calls Peter. We, too, are catching men … we are “fishers of men” (Matt 4:19). This is the mission of the Church, our mission as the Body of Christ. So, with whom will you share Jesus?

You can share Jesus with others by inviting them to Alpha, beginning Monday nights on October 2. Better yet, accompany them on the journey and attend Alpha with them! Alpha is an 11-week course that builds relationship with Jesus and discover who Jesus really is. For more information or to register, go to www.stjoetosa.com/alpha

Who do you know needs Jesus? Who will you invite?
