    Search Using the Search BoxA search box exists at the bottom right area of the List of C lients section. You can use thissearch box to search for clients.

    NOTE: If you save your query param eters as a view , then any ne w devices that later reg isterw ith F lexM aster and m eet the query criteria are autom atically ad ded to the saved view .

    1. Typ e a search string into the box. The search string co uld be a p artial or full string an dcan consist of num bers or letters or a co m bination o f both.

    2. Press on you r keybo ard .

    FlexM aster searches all its datab ase colum ns for a m atch to the string that you entered ,

    Viewing Clients That Belong to a ViewU se the Query link on the M anage View s pag e to d isplay clients that belong to a view .

    1. G o to the Inventory > C lients > M anage C lient View s page.

    2.Look for the clien t view on w hich yo u w ant to run a q ue ry.

    3. C lick the Query link that is in the sam e row as the view nam e. The C lient Search pageap pears, and then clients that belong to the view ap pears in the List of C lients section.

    Edit ing a Client ViewEditing a client view is very sim ilar to the p rocess of creating a client view .

    1. G o to the Inventory > C lients > M anage C lient View s page. A ll existing client view s

    ap pear in the M anage C lient View s section.2. Lo ok for the client view that you w ant to edit, and then click the Edit link that is in the

    sam e row as the clien t view nam e. The Edit View section appears.

    5. To save the chang es that you m ad e, click Update View .

    Deleting a Client View1. G o to the Inventory > C lients > M anage C lient View s page.

    2. Look for the client view that you w ant to delete.

    3. C lick the Delete link that is in the sam e row as the view nam e. A confirm ation m essage

    appears.4. C lick OK to confirm .

    The M anage C lient View s p ag e refreshes, and the n the view that you deleted disappearsfrom the page .

    There is also a status box located in the low er-left corner of the pag e. The status boxdisplays statuses related to device operations. For exam ple, w hen you ap p ly a p rovisioningtask to the device, the task num ber and task status ap pear in this box.

    This status box is hidden by defau lt. To display the box, click the Show Device Status link

    at the top-right corner of the p ag e. The device status is updated every 30 seco nd s topresen t the m ost up-to-date d evice inform ation. If a d evice change is in p rogress, thenthis status b ox d isplays the reque sted change and the user w ho initiated the change.

    About Provisioning TasksProvisioning is creating tasks that up date the configuration, upgrad e the firm w are, orreb oot a g roup (one or m ore) of your m anag ed Ruckus W ireless devices accord ing to aschedule. These tasks allow you to m anag e the p rovisioning of all or a subset of devicesbased on req uirem en ts such as change m anag em en t rules, geo grap hical locations, tim ezon es, and m ore.

    A s FlexM aster can m anag e m any Ruckus W ireless devices, creating configuration orup grad e tasks to configure or upgrad e m ultip le sets of devices at a tim e consolidates andsim plifies dep loym ent and m anagem ent of your devices.

    Provisioning Conventions and RecommendedPracticesThe follow ing conventions and best p ractices are com m on across all options o n theC onfigure tab :

    C onfiguration U pgrad e, Firm w are U pgrad e, Reb oot and Factory Reset tasks areassigned to device view s. For each of these tasks, you can select from either of thetw o default devices view s or any device view that you have created .

    If your C hange M anag em ent Policy or Se rvice Level A greem ent (SLA ) calls for partic-ular days and tim es of the w eek/m onth w hen service can be m om entarily disrup tedfor m ainten ance p urposes, the n you m ay w ant to schedule C onfigure tasks duringsuch a tim e.

    NOTE: W he n sched uling tasks, m ake sure that the re is adeq uate tim e interval betw ee ntasks that target the sam e devices. For exam ple, w he n yo u are p rovisioning a firm w are

    up grad e or reb oot task for a d evice view and you have anothe r task that target the sam eview , schedule the second task in a w ay that allow s for the u pgrad e o r reboot process tocom plete first. O therw ise, the seco nd task fails or exp ires.

Since configuration tem plates are specific to a p roduct m odel, itis possib le that not all devices in a d evice view are p rovisioned based on p roduct m odel.Fo r exam ple, if you g rouped m ultip le d evices acco rd ing to their com m on location (forexam ple, Los A ngeles, C A ) and called that view LA D evices, and the view consisted ofthree ZF 7782s and tw o VF 2825s, then you need to create tw o (or m ore) sep arateconfiguration tem plates and configuration u pgrad e tasks to configure all of the d evicesin the view .

    Performing an AP Factory ResetThe Factory Reset op tion resets devices to their factory d efaults, im m ediately o r at thespecified tim e. Resetting to factory d efaults m ay b e necessary w hen repurposing devices,thus requiring a new configuration for each device. A reset cau ses a reboot; thus, thedevices go out of service for a p eriod of tim e (ap proxim ately one to tw o m inutes).

    N ote that FlexM aster can reset A Ps to factory defaults, but not ZoneD irector devices. Thisis becau se resetting ZoneD irector to factory d efaults affects all A Ps that are connected toit an d m ay cau se p arts of (if not the entire) netw ork to go offline.

    Working with ZoneDirector Event ConfigurationM anag ed Zo ne D irector devices generate a significant num ber of events, w hich m akes thetask o f m onitoring critical ZoneD irector events challenging . To ensure that you are notifiedab out ZoneD irector events that are critical to your organization, you can define the eventsthat you w ant to sho w on the Even ts w idget on the D ashb oard.

    Creat ing a ZoneDirector Event Configurat ionA Zo neD irector event con figuration nam ed D efault Event C onfiguration exists. This d efaultevent configuration includ es all im portant ZoneD irector even ts defined by Rucku s W ire-less.

    W hen you w ant to a sm aller set of events (for exam ple, critical-only) to ap pear on the Eventsw idget, you can create a custom event configuration and assign it to m anag ed Zo ne D i-rector devices.

    1. G o to C onfigure > Zo neD irectors > Event C onfiguration. The Event C onfiguration tabd isplays the event configurations that have been created .

    2. C lick the Create a New Event Configuration b utton at the bottom -right corner ofthe page. The N ew Event C onfiguration form ap pears, d isplaying six tab s that

    3. In N ew Event C onfiguration N am e, type a nam e that you w ant to assign to this even tconfiguration. For exam ple, w hen you are includ ing only critical ZoneD irector eventsin this event configuration, you can type Critical ZD Events .

    NOTE: The defau lt settings in the N ew Event C onfiguration form are exactly the sam e asthe settings in D efault Event C onfiguration.To ensure that only even ts that you consider im portant are included in the event configu-ration that you are creating, clear all the check b oxes on all tab s before selecting thosethat you w ant to include in the new event configuration. You can clear or unselect all checkboxes on e ach tab the clicking the check box next to Event Type tw ice the first clickselects all check b oxes and the seco nd click clears them all.

    4. C lick each o f the e ven t type tab s, and then select the che ck boxes for the ZoneD irectoreven ts that you w ant to include in the ne w event configuration.

    5. C lick Save . The even t configuration that you created ap pears in the EventC onfiguration tab le.

    Assigning an Event Configuration to ZoneDirector DevicesA fter you create an even t configuration, you need to assign it to the Zo neD irector devicesthat you w ant to send notifications for the events that you defined in the event configura-tion tem plate. A ssigning an event configuration creates a p rovisioning task that dep loysthat particular event co nfiguration to the target ZoneD irector devices.

    NOTE: You can only assign one event configuration to each Zo ne D irector device.

    1. G o to C onfigure > Zo neD irectors > Event C onfiguration.

    2. O n the Event C onfiguration tab , look for the event configuration that you w ant toassign to Zone D irector devices.

    3. C lick the Assign ZDs link that is in the sam e row as the event configuration that youw ant to assign. The A ssign ZD s w ith {Event C onfiguration N am e} form ap pears at thebottom of the p age .

    4. In Select a ZD View , select the Zone D irector view from w hich yo u w ant to selectZoneD irector devices. The default A ll ZoneD irectors view and all custom Zo ne D irectorview s ap pear in the list.

    The List of ZoneD irectors tab le refreshes, an d then d isplays the ZoneD irector devicesthat belong to the selected view .

    5. Select the check boxes for the Zo ne D irector devices to w hich you w ant to assign theevent co nfiguration. To select all ZoneD irector devices that are currently displayed onthe p ag e, click the che ck box next to the ZD N am e colum n head er.

    6. A fter you select the check boxes for all the Zone D irector devices to w hich you w antto assign the event configuration, click Save to save your changes.

    You have co m pleted assigning ZoneD irector devices to the even t configuration. To viewthe status of the task, refer to View ing the Status o f an Even t C onfiguration Task .

    Viewing the Status of an Event Configuration TaskA fter you assign Zo neD irector devices to an even t configuration task, you can che ck theprovisioning status of the task b y going to the Config Task Log tab .

    of ZD s tab le ap pears and lists ZoneD irector details. The C onfiguration colum ndisplays the event configuration that is currently assigned to each ZoneD irectordevice.

    To search for specific ZoneD irector devices, configure the filter settings b y d oingthe follow ing :i. In the first d rop-dow n list box after Filter Row s w here, select the search attribute

    that you w ant to use. O ptions include nam e, serial num ber, IP ad dress, externalIP ad dress, m odel, and last seen (am ong othe rs).

    ii. In the second drop-dow n list box, select the search o perator that you w ant touse. A vailab le search operators include:

    Exactly equals : Search for devices w ith attributes that exactly m atch the queryparam eter you en tered . Fo r exam ple, if you selected IP Address as the attributeand you entered 172.17.16.176 as the search param eter, then only devicesw ith this IP ad dress appear in the search results.

    C ontains: Search for devices w ith attributes that include the query param eteryou en tered.
