The recent flood in Rio de Janeiro

• Recently Rio has had a horrible flood. They say it’s been the worst flood in 4 decades.Rescuers are doing the best they can to find everybody and get them medical care.more than 100 people have died because of this natural disaster! The forecast says more rain coming.. A lot of people are picking up diseases such as aids.all of the steets are closed because of the floods and all onternational flights have been cancled.

• There have been landslides ruining peoples homes and the things they love. Just landslides have left people dead. The mayer says that everyone in certain area should leave because them and there homes are in danger. 4,000 families1 are homeless and 10,000 homes are at risk! 11 inches ofrain fell in 24 hours. The brazilian goverment says that they are rebuilding houses for everyone who has lost thiers.

The causes and effects

• The rain that reaches Rio de Janeiro has killed more than one hundred people and thousands were left homeless and hurt. Before the disaster, the state governor, sergoi cabral. And the mayer of rio, eduardo paes, asked the federal government for R$ 370 million dollars for emergency repairs. According to the government, Rio de Janeiro had the highest recorded rainfall in its history, and beat the record set in 1966. cities and countries most affected are niteroi and rio de janeiro and sao goncalo.

The Causes and Effects• During every heavy rain that happened in rio, the number of

deaths rises at least 255 peoplke are killed by landslides, flooding of streets, or everything around being desroyed. Whats worse is that people who suffer this tragedy do not have any kind of transportation to get them.residents of the city of Deus, western Rio de Janeiro, set up a shck on Saturday morning (17/04/10) in the sands of Copacabana beach in the south, during a protest against the indifference of the authorities to people living in the hills of the city. The hut, which caught the attention of those who enjoed the sunny Saturday, was done with debris collected from eight communities of Rio and Niteroi that suffered landslides int the recent flood: there were 253 dead people and nearly 6,000 homeless.

Science investigator• The problems of floods in brazil are mostly caused my

rains. In asphalt, cars get flooded and roads also because of the problem of the clog of culvers which is created by the trash stored in the streets floors. In hills, people get killed and houses destroyed because the mud slide created by the rains (the cause of flooding in brazil). With this last floodinmg of rio de janeiro which destoyed a lot of slums 245 people have died and 160 are missing. The problem is that rio’s government can’t make anything about this because the slums are independent and have their own community gavernment.
