Florence and the machine Lungs DigiPak analysis The main character featured throughout this DigiPak is the artist herself, Florence Welch, this Is made clear with the front cover of her being in the centre with her iconic pale skin and red hair. On the front cover her body language is very fragile and lady like, with her face looking away and down from the camera this makes us feel as though we are being intrusive in a private moment and could suggest she is saddened and hurt; her arms are open and sprayed Asif she were laying down or had been pushed against the background and her eyes are closed. the way her arms are to the camera could suggest she is being open with us and not hiding anything or she is allowing herself to be hurt by another, creating an enigma of a narrative. The way she has been styled is also interesting as to me she is reminiscent and has taken inspiration from the idea of a traditional woman in the Victorian age, with her pale skin, red hair and pleated, flowing robe, for example, on the right is the painting ‘Alice’ from the 18 th century by the Artists Henry Tanworth Wells which represents a women of that time; I can See great similarities in the way Florence Welch is styled and this painting in that they both Capture the essence of the classic and fragile ‘English rose’. following on with the theme of the 18 th century, within the mise en scene there are a lot of dark colours used such as greens, blues, reds and blacks, similar to the style tof the gothic Victorian age in paintings. The dark colours also have connotations of sadness and hard times and so link with the genre of her music indie-rock. The hands featured on the cd cover I would say are again a piece of iconography, paying homage to the gothic renaissance era, with similarities to paintings by Leonardo Da Vinci and Raphael in the style of painting and colour. There are also connotations of the same era with the back cover on the Digipak, which I would say is almost a replica of Victorian medicinal drawings of organs. the images on this Digipak are either illustrations or images with the idea of being outside, the front cover is probably taken in a studio however the backdrop is designed with flowers, foliage and birds to give an outdoor appearance. Again portraying that natural image. The final image on the inside of the Digipak shows Florence on the shoulders of her fans and holding Hands with them, presumably at her concert; this to me shows that though her recent success, she is still

Lungs DigiPak analysisThe main character featured throughout this DigiPak is the artist herself, Florence Welch, this Is made clear with the front cover of her being in the centre with her iconic pale skin and red hair. On the front cover her body language is very fragile and lady like, with her face looking away and down from the camera this makes us feel as though we are being intrusive in a private moment and could suggest she is saddened and hurt; her arms are open and sprayed Asif she were laying down or had been pushed against the background and her eyes are closed. the way her arms are to the camera could suggest she is being open with us and not hiding anything or she is allowing herself

to be hurt by another, creating an enigma of a narrative. The way she has been styled is also interesting as to me she is reminiscent and has taken inspiration from the idea of a traditional woman in the Victorian age, with her pale skin, red hair and pleated, flowing robe, for example, on the right is the painting ‘Alice’ from the 18th century by the Artists Henry Tanworth Wells which represents a women of that time; I can See great similarities in the way Florence Welch is styled and this painting in that they both Capture the essence of the classic and fragile ‘English rose’.

following on with the theme of the 18th century, within the mise en scene there are a lot of dark colours used such as greens, blues, reds and blacks, similar to the style tof the gothic Victorian age in paintings.

The final image on the inside of the Digipak shows Florence on the shoulders of her fans and holding Hands with them, presumably at her concert; this to me shows that though her recent success, she is still in touch with her music and her fans are very important to her, this image was included to show her appreciation to her fans who bough the album.
