TO BIDDERS AND PLAN HOLDERS ON THE ABOVE REFERENCED PROJECT: PLEASE NOTE CONTENTS HEREIN AND INCLUDE WITH YOUR BID SUBMISSION.

NOTICE It will be required that this addendum be signed in acknowledgment of receipt and that it be included with your Bid when same is submitted to Mae Roth, Government Operations Consultant II, Bureau of Design and Construction, 3800 Commonwealth Blvd. MS520, Tallahassee, Florida 32399-3000. Failure to do so may be grounds for rejection of the Bid. _______________________________________ Signature of Contractor and Date The Following statements supersede & supplement the corresponding items in the specifications & drawings: The attached revised plan sheets are hereby incorporated into the bid documents. Due to size restrictions, for a full set of revised plans, please visit the plans and specs FTP site.

1. Question: Page S 100 Shouldn’t the scale be 3/8” = 1’ instead ¾” = 1’? Answer: The scale correction is included in the revised plans. Question: Also, I find no detail of what is required for the Concrete stepped seating. Is this just a slab? What is the reinforcing? I didn’t find a detail in the plans, structural or architectural. Answer: The revised plans include details for the concrete tiered seating.

2. Question: Is there anywhere that these ASTM standards from the specs can be accessed without having to purchase them? I cannot help but notice that the standards are located in most of the details. Leaving quite a few discrepancies between the plans themselves and the corresponding specs. Answer: It is standard industry practice that the contractor is responsible for having knowledge of the applicable ASTM standards and ensuring compliance with these standards.

3. Question: Confirm if the Section "A" Financial Statement will be public record. Answer: All bid documents are public record and may be requested by the public. Any proprietary information, eg social security numbers or identified trade secrets will be redacted as necessary.

4. Question: Verify if aluminum handrails are prefinished of powder coated. Answer: The handrails shall be pre-finished clear aluminum.

5. Question: What will be etched on the granite slab for the monument? Answer: FDEP will provide the specific etching for the granite slab during the construction phase. The contractor shall include an allowance of $1500.00 in the bid to acquire the granite slab, apply the etching, and install the etched slab on the pedestal.

6. Question: Verify type of granite specification.

Answer: The granite slab material shall be similar to that for a headstone, and detailed specifications will be provided after the contract is awarded. The above allowance should be sufficient to include the appropriate granite slab.

7. Question: Confirm there is no privacy slats on the fence at the dog park. Answer: There are no privacy slats on the dog park fence.

8. Question: Confirm dog fencing is vinyl clad. Answer: The dog park fencing shall be vinyl-clad.

9. Question: Where is the location, if any, of the "horizontal-slide gate" at the dog park? Answer: There is no slide gate per the plans.

10. Question: Are the radius aluminum X's intersecting or overlapping?

Answer: The radius aluminum crosses are intersecting.

11. Question: What material are the embed plates for the radius aluminum? Answer: The material for the embed plates shall be Aluminum 6061.

12. Question: Please clarify and indicate where tie in domestic water for new water fountains.

Answer: Refer to Addendum 2. Additional information is that the existing restrooms have potable water service; therefore, the contractor could base his bid on extending the service lines from the nearest restroom to the water fountains.

13. Question: Verify if any backflow prevention devices shall be included. Answer: There is no backflow preventer shown in the plans. If one is subsequent required, it will be the responsibility of Gulf County to provide and install it.

Where any portion of the Contract Documents is deleted, changed and/or added to, the remaining portion not so modified shall remain in effect as stated or otherwise indicated.

DESCRIPTION: ADDENDUM 4 is issued to add details to the lettering at the amphitheater, add structural detail and additional grades to the seating at the amphitheater, add sheathing information on pavilion, change all reference from existing well to New well, and correct a scale on one of the drawings.

 1.2 SUMMARY  

A. Section Includes:  

1. Cast dimensional characters.  

 1.3 COORDINATION  

A. Furnish templates for placement of electrical service embedded in permanent construction by other installers.

 

 1.4 ACTION SUBMITTALS  

A. Product Data: For each type of product.  

B. Shop Drawings: For dimensional letter signs.  

1. Include fabrication and installation details and attachments to other work. 2. Show sign mounting heights, locations of supplementary supports to be provided by

others, and accessories. 3. Show message list, typestyles, graphic elements, and layout for each sign at least 1/2” =

1’-0” scale. 4. Show locations of electrical service connections. 5. Include diagrams for power, signal, and control wiring.

 C. Samples for Initial Selection: For each type of sign assembly, exposed component, and exposed

finish.  

1. Include representative Samples of available typestyles and graphic symbols.  

D. Samples for Verification: For each type of sign assembly showing all components and with the required finish(es), in manufacturer's standard size unless otherwise indicated and as follows:

 1. Dimensional Characters: Half-size Sample of dimensional character. 2. Exposed Accessories: Half-size Sample of each accessory type.

A. Qualification Data: For Installer.

 1.6 CLOSEOUT SUBMITTALS  

A. Maintenance Data: For signs to include in maintenance manuals.  

 1.7 QUALITY ASSURANCE  

A. Installer Qualifications: An entity that employs installers and supervisors who are trained and approved by manufacturer.

 

 1.8 FIELD CONDITIONS 1.9 WARRANTY

A. Special Warranty: Manufacturer.s standard form in which manufacturer agrees to repair or replace components of signs that fail in materials or workmanship within specified warranty p;eriod.

1. Failures include, but are not limited to the following.

a. Deterioration of metal and polymer finishes beyond normal weathering. b. Deterioration of embedced graphic image colors and sign lamination.

2. Warranty Period: Five years from date of Substantial Completion.

 B. Field Measurements: Verify locations of electrical service embedded in permanent construction by

other installers by field measurements before fabrication, and indicate measurements on Shop Drawings.

 

 PART 2 - PRODUCTS

 

 2.1 PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS  

A. Delegated Design: Engage a qualified professional engineer, as defined in Section 014000 "Quality Requirements," to design sign structure and anchorage of dimensional character sign typeto withstand design loads as indicated on Drawings.

C. Structural Performance: Signs and supporting elements shall withstand the effects of gravity and

other loads.  

C. Electrical Components, Devices, and Accessories: Listed and labeled as defined in NFPA 70, by a qualified testing agency, and marked for intended location and application.

 

 2.2 DIMENSIONAL CHARACTERS  

A. Cast Characters as shown on drawing A-201: Characters with uniform faces, sharp corners, and

precisely formed lines and profiles, and as follows:  

1. Manufacturers: Subject to compliance with requirements, available manufacturers offering products that may be incorporated into the Work include, but are not limited to, the following:

 a. ACE Sign Systems, Inc. b. Allen Markings International. c. APCO Graphics, Inc. d. A. R. K. Ramos Signage Systems. e. ASI Sign Systems, Inc. f. Diskey Sign Company. g. Gemini Incorporated. h. Matthews International Corporation; Bronze Division. i. Metal Arts; Division of L & H Mfg. Co. j. Metallic Arts. k. Seton Identification Products. l. Southwell Company (The).

 2. Character Material: Cast aluminum. 3. Character Height: As indicated on drawings. 4. Thickness: Manufacturer's standard for size of character. 5. Finishes:

a. Integral Aluminum Finish: Anodized b l a c k color as selected by Architect f r o m industry colors and color densities.

6. Mounting: Projecting studs with two inch long leg mounts. Signage Letters shall be pin mounted. 7. Typeface: Times Roman or as approved by Owner.

 

 2.3 DIMENSIONAL CHARACTER MATERIALS

 A. Aluminum Castings: ASTM B 26/B 26M, alloy and temper recommended by sign

manufacturer for casting process used and for type of use and finish indicated.  

 2.4 ACCESSORIES

 A. Fasteners and Anchors: Manufacturer's standard as required for secure anchorage of signage,

noncorrosive and compatible with each material joined, and complying with the following:  

1. Use concealed fasteners and anchors unless indicated to be exposed. 2. For exterior exposure, furnish stainless-steel devices unless otherwise indicated. 3. Exposed Metal-Fastener Components, General:

 a. Fabricated from same basic metal and finish of fastened metal unless otherwise

indicated. b. Projecting Studs: Threaded studs with sleeve spacer, welded or brazed to back of

sign material, screwed into back of sign assembly, or screwed into tapped lugs cast integrally into back of cast sign material, unless otherwise indicated.

 

 2.5 FABRICATION

 A. General: Provide manufacturer's standard sign assemblies according to requirements indicated.

 1. Preassemble signs and assemblies in the shop to greatest extent possible. Disassemble

signs and assemblies only as necessary for shipping and handling limitations. Clearly mark units for reassembly and installation; apply markings in locations concealed from view after final assembly.

2. Mill joints to a tight, hairline fit. Form assemblies and joints exposed to weather to resist water penetration and retention.

3. Comply with AWS for recommended practices in welding and brazing. Provide welds and brazes behind finished surfaces without distorting or discoloring exposed side. Clean exposed welded and brazed connections of flux, and dress exposed and contact surfaces.

4. Conceal connections if possible; otherwise, locate connections where they are inconspicuous.

5. Internally brace signs for stability and for securing fasteners. 6. Provide rebates, lugs, and brackets necessary to assemble components and to attach to

existing work. Drill and tap for required fasteners. Use concealed fasteners where possible; use exposed fasteners that match sign finish.

7. Castings: Fabricate castings free of warp, cracks, blowholes, pits, scale, sand holes, and other defects that impair appearance or strength. Grind, wire brush, sandblast, and buff castings to remove seams, gate marks, casting flash, and other casting marks before finishing.

 

 2.6 GENERAL FINISH REQUIREMENTS  

A. Protect mechanical finishes on exposed surfaces from damage by applying a strippable, temporary protective covering before shipping.

 B. Appearance of Finished Work: Noticeable variations in same piece are not acceptable.

Variations in appearance of adjoining components are acceptable if they are within the range of approved Samples and are assembled or installed to minimize contrast.

 

 2.7 ALUMINUM FINISHES  

A. Color Anodic Finish: AAMA 611, Class I, 0.018 mm or thicker.

PART 3 - EXECUTION

3.1 EXAMINATION  

A. Examine substrates, areas, and conditions, with Installer present, for compliance with requirements for installation tolerances and other conditions affecting performance of signage work.

 B. Verify that sign-support surfaces are within tolerances to accommodate signs without gaps or

irregularities between backs of signs and support surfaces unless otherwise indicated.  

C. Verify that electrical service is correctly sized and located to accommodate signs.

D. Proceed with installation only after unsatisfactory conditions have been corrected.

 3.2 INSTALLATION  

A. General: Install signs using mounting methods indicated and according to manufacturer's written instructions.

1. Install signs level, plumb, true to line, and at locations and heights indicated, with sign surfaces free of distortion and other defects in appearance.

2. Before installation, verify that sign surfaces are clean and free of materials or debris that would impair installation.

3. Corrosion Protection: Coat concealed surfaces of exterior aluminum in contact with grout, concrete, masonry, wood, or dissimilar metals, with a heavy coat of bituminous paint.

 B. Mounting Methods:

 1. Projecting Studs: Using a template, drill holes in substrate aligning with studs on back of

sign. Remove loose debris from hole and substrate surface.  

a. Masonry Substrates: Fill holes with adhesive. Leave recess space in hole for displaced adhesive. Place spacers on studs, place sign in position, and push until spacers are pinched between sign and substrate, embedding the stud ends in holes. Temporarily support sign in position until adhesive fully sets.

b. Thin or Hollow Surfaces: Place spacers on studs, place sign in position with spacers pinched between sign and substrate, and install washers and nuts on stud ends projecting through opposite side of surface, and tighten.

 

 3.3 ADJUSTING AND CLEANING  

A. Remove and replace damaged or deformed characters and signs that do not comply with specified requirements. Replace characters with damaged or deteriorated finishes or components that cannot be successfully repaired by finish touchup or similar minor repair procedures.

 B. Remove temporary protective coverings and strippable films as signs are installed.

 C. On completion of installation, clean exposed surfaces of signs according to manufacturer's

written instructions, and touch up minor nicks and abrasions in finish. Maintain signs in a clean condition during construction and protect from damage until acceptance by Owner.
