Florida’s Graduation Requirements for a Standard Diploma The State of Florida is phasing in new, additional graduation requirements. This brochure explains the changes that are based on the school year in which you enter ninth grade. For students entering ninth grade 2013-2014 x You must take the Algebra I End-of- Course (EOC) Assessment and pass the assessment at Level 3 or higher to earn the course credit. x You must take the Geometry EOC As- sessment and pass the assessment at Level 3 or higher to earn the course credit. x You must earn credit in Algebra I*, Ge- ometry* and Algebra II* as three of the four mathematics credits required for high school graduation. x You must take the Biology EOC Assess- ment and pass the assessment at Level 3 or higher to earn the course credit. x You must earn three science credits for high school graduation in: ¡ Biology I* ¡ Chemistry* or Physics* and an ¡ Equally rigorous science course x You must take the Grade 10 FCAT Writing. x You must take the Grade 10 FCAT 2.0 Reading and attain a Level 3 or higher to satisfy graduation requirements. x You are encouraged to enroll in advanced courses and accelerated programs in order to be better prepared for postsecondary education and/or industry certification. x Use FACTS.org (http://www.FACTS.org) to ¡ Plan/revise a program of study with an electronic personal education plan (ePEP) ¡ Check Bright Futures Scholarship eligibility, graduation status, and university admission requirements Check your school curriculum guide and visit your school counselor for all required coursework. * or an equivalent course Helpful Websites FACTS.org: http://www.FACTS.org —Florida’s free academic advising website. 2013-2014
