From the control aspect, the thermosta-tic valve integrated in Multibox K is aconstant proportional controller (P- con-troller) without any auxiliary power. Itdoes not need any electrical connectionor other outside power source.

The change of the room air temperature(controlled variable) is proportional to the change of the valve lift (correctingvariable). A rise in the room air tempera-ture e.g. from the sun's rays, results in an expansion of the liquid in the tempera-ture sensor and it acts on the bellows.By means of the valve spindle, this cutsback on the supply of water in the floorheating circuit. The procedure is reversedgiven a falling room air temperature.

Multibox K

From the control aspect, the thermo-static valve integrated in Multibox K-RTLis a constant proportional controller (P-controller) without any auxiliarypower. It does not need any electricalconnection or other outside powersource.

The change of the room air temperature(controlled variable) is proportional tothe change of the valve lift (correctingvariable). A rise in the room air tempera-ture e.g. from the sun's rays, results inan expansion of the liquid in the tempera-ture sensor of the thermostatic head andit acts on the bellows. By means of thevalve spindle, this cuts back on the supply of water in the floor heatingcircuit. The procedure is reversed given afalling room air temperature.

Multibox K-RTL is additionally providedwith a return temperature limiter (RTL)which stops the set return temperaturefrom being exceeded. The valve openswhen the set limiting figure is exceeded.

Multibox RTL Multibox K-RTL

From the control aspect, the return temperature limiter integrated in Multibox RTL is a constant proportionalcontroller (P-controller) without any auxiliary power. It does not need anyelectrical connection or other outsidepower source.

The temperature change of the fluid flowing through (controlled variable) isproportional to the change of the valvelift (correcting variable) and is transferredto the sensor by means of thermal con-duction. Any rise in the return tempera-ture due to, for instance, to loweredheating output of the floor heatingsystem as a result of outside thermaleffects causes the substance in the temperature sensor to expand and acton the diaphragm plunger. By means ofthe valve spindle, this cuts back on thesupply of water in the floor heating circuit. The procedure is reversed given afalling fluid temperature.

The valve opens when the set limitingfigure is exceeded.

From the control aspect, the thermostaticvalve integrated in Multibox C/E – inassociation with the F thermostatic valve– is a constant proportional controller (P-controller) without auxiliary power. Itdoes not need any electrical connectionor other outside power source.

Change of the room air temperature(controlled variable) is proportional to thechange of the valve lift (correcting variable). A rise in the room air tempera-ture e.g. from the sun's rays, results in anexpansion of the temperature sensorliquid and it acts through the capillarytube on the corrugated tube in the valveadaptor. By means of the valve spindle, this cuts back on the supply of water inthe floor heating circuit. The procedure is reversed given a falling room air temperature.

Together with thermal or motor actua-tors, room thermostats control individualroom temperature.

Multibox C/E Multibox C/RTL

From the control aspect, the return temperature limiter integrated in Multi-box C/RTL is a constant proportional con-troller (P controller) without any auxiliarypower. It does not need any electricalconnection or other outside power source.

Temperature change of the fluid flowingthrough (controlled variable) is proportio-nal to the change of the valve lift (correc-ting variable) and is transferred to thesensor by means of thermal conduction.Any rise in the return temperature dueto, for instance, to a lowered heatingoutput of the floor heating system as aresult of outside thermal effects causesthe substance in the temperature sensorto expand and act on the diaphragmplunger. By means of the valve spindle, this cuts back on the supply of water inthe floor heating circuit. The procedure is reversed given a falling fluid tempera-ture.

The valve opens when the set limitingfigure is exceeded.

- For all Multibox models, ensurethat the system supply tempera-ture is suitable for setting up the floor heating system.

- All Multibox models are to be connected to the return pipe at theend of the floor heating circuit. Heed direction of flow (see Examples of use).

- Depending on piping pressure loss, all Multibox models are suitable for heating areas up to approx. 20 m2.

- The length of 12 mm internal diameterpipe in any heating circuit should notexeed 100 m.

- With heating areas >20 m2 and/or pipe lengths >100 m, a T-piece, for instance, should be used to connecttwo equally long heating circuits to the Multibox. (see Examples of use).

- To ensure low-noise system operation, differential pressure over the valve should not exceed 0.2 bar.

- The floor heating pipe is to be laid spirally in the flooring screed (see Examples of use).

- The set value of the RTL should not be below ambient temperature - other- wise it will not open.

To stop any damage and scale in hotwater heating systems, the compositionof the thermal fluid is to conform to VDIDirective 2035. The VdTÜV instructionalleaflet 466/AGFW instructional leaflet5/15 is to be heeded in respect of indus-trial and district heating systems.

Mineral oil in the thermal fluid and/or allkinds of lubricants containing mineral oillead to considerable swelling and, in mostcases, to the failure of EPDM seals.

When using nitrite-free antifreeze andanti-corrosive based on ethylene glycol, technical advice – especially on additive

concentration – is to be taken from theanti-freeze/anti-corrosive manufacturer'sdocumentation.

Thermal fluid

Carry out functional heating of heatingscreed conforming to standards in keeping with EN 1264-4.

Earliest start for functional heating:

– Cement screed: 21 days after laying

– Anhydrite screed 7 days after laying

Begin 20 °C - 25 °C flow temperatureand maintain for 3 days. Then set maxi-mum design temperature and maintainfor 4 days. Flow temperature can beregulated by controlling the heat gene-rator. Turn the protective cap anti-clockwise to open valve or turn RTLhead to Position 5.

Refer to the screed manufacturer'sinformation!

Do not exceed maximum floor temperature at the heating pipes:– Cement and anhydrite screed: 55 °C– Poured asphalt screed: 45 °C – according to screed manufacturer`s

technical advice!
