OH MY GOSH!! I have been waiting threemonths for this day - the day when FAN Mailcontains something other than COVIDinformation!!
Drum roll, please:Parks and Rec will have summer youthprogramming!! Find out more here.
This is big news. Not the programming (well, that's great news, too!) but the fact that little by
little we are resuming some of our familiar pastimes. Common sense-restrictions areloosening. Larger gatherings are a little safer. I know it's a holiday weekend, and if you'relike me, you love a cookout. But please, don't getting all squirelly and round up 249 of your
closest friends for a big ol' get together. There really is still a pandemic happening. It isgetting better - creeping slowly forward - and it is still very much up to each one of us tokeep that momentum moving in the right direction. You know the story: Keep those facecoverings on in public when you can't keep a physical distance. Continue washing yourhands often. Remember to regularly clean those items that are near you - keyboards andphones for instance, to keep the cooties away.
Y'all know how I feel about calling it a "new normal." We're in a sort of weird middle place- it's not all gloom and doom, but it's not all sunshine and roses either. Let's revisit thatidea of The Great Pause. Maybe it's a time to stretch our comfort level. Learn a new skill.Find new and fun ways to engage bored and cranky children (or spouses.) Learn a newtechnology to connect with far away family and friends. Reintroduce ourselves to ourneighbors (with proper physical distancing, of course.) I also know that for many of us,there has been no pause; we are working a normal, or busier, schedule and life might notreally look that different than it did BCV (Before Coronavirus.) Maybe for these folks, learning even better self-care is what's important right now. Indulge in that bubble bath.Watch a cheesy movie. Or learn to say no. Because let's face, there is little that is reallynormal right now.
So, apparently I'm not able to talk about anything other than COVID after all.
In any event, I wish for you a safe and fun-filled weekend. County Offices are closed July 3and anything normally open on weekends is closed as well (like the Library andConvenience Center.) See on the 6th!
Stay safe, cover your face, wash your hands, and spread kindness.Kelly
