Präzision. Dieses aus dem Lateinischen stammende Wort(praecisus dt. kurz, vorn abgeschnitten) will so gar nicht

passen zur Beruf des Uhrmachers. Denn kurz dauert bei der Fertigung eines Uhrwerkes gar nichts. Es ist eher umgekehrt.Dennoch hat sich der Begriff Präzision im technischenSprachgebrauch als Synonym für Genauigkeit etabliert.Und Genauigkeit ist, was ein gutes Uhrwerk, ob für dasHandgelenk oder den Wohnraum gedacht, ausmacht. Wichtigist in diesem Zusammenhang der Mensch. Er wacht darüber,welche Teile er für sein Werk als gut erachtet, und welchenicht. Nur dann wird es perfekt und erfreut den späterenBesitzer seiner Uhr mit der erwarteten Zuverlässigkeit undLanglebigkeit.Genau so werden alle Werke im Hause Matthias Naeschkehergestellt. Nevertheless the concept of ‘precision’ has emerged inthe technical usage as a synonym for exactness.And exactness is, what is expected of good clockwork whether its made for the wrist or standing in the living room. Thus, inthis context precision is only what the human makes of it. Hecontemplates which parts of his work are good and which arenot.
