What is the Pre-Employment Screening Program (PSP)?

oProvides motor carrier employers with crash and inspection information on potential new hires
oVoluntary for both carriers and drivers

What data is in the PSP?
oMotor Carrier Management Information System (MCMIS) o 5 years of crash data o 3 years of inspection data
oDoes not include conviction data
oSame as FMCSA’s Driver Information Resource (DIR)
How does PSP work?
oSecure, electronic, Web-based system
oFee for service by contractor
oMotor carrier enrolls and collects signatures from applicant drivers (FMCSA audits to ensure signature collection)
oDriver brings own PSP record or motor carrier obtains
through PSP system
Can the driver see their profile?
oYes, and they are encouraged to do so!
oAvailable through PSP system
oRequires a review of the data through FMCSA’s DataQs System

How is PSP protected?
oPSP adheres to: oPrivacy Act oNon-disclosure statements oFair Credit Reporting Act oAll other applicable federal laws
oProtects against theft, manipulation, etc.
Motor Carrier Enrollment
oAuthenticates company and provides log-in credentials
oCarrier agrees to all legal usage constraints and warnings each time they begin a session
