Elementary School

This is the primary storm shelter at Marysville Elementary. This space is 18 feet long and 6 feet wide. Our students and staff will not all fit in this space.

This picture shows the section of the library which contains computers. These computers are used quite frequently, but the library needs more space for reading materials and reader friendly spaces. Moving these computers out of the library would allow us to improve our library space.

This bench is located at the top of the stairs close to the library and the cafeteria. There is a lot of student traffic in this area, but it is fairly common to see a student and a para sitting on this bench working on reading, math, or other subjects.

This is the cafeteria area of the school. There is a lot of student traffic in this area, but it is fairly common to see a student and a para sitting at one of these tables working on assignments.

This picture shows the top area of the moveable panels that make up the walls of music area. You can see the lights of the cafeteria from inside the music room. The gap in this wall along with the thickness of these panels allow a lot of noise to bleed through the walls into the cafeteria and vice-versa.

These rooms would be designed as multipurpose spaces to allow for small group instruction in a private location and large group instruction for special presentations.

We would gain two classrooms and a computer lab which would allow us to expand our selections in the library.

This is the view from one of the student seats in the Biology classroom. The student sitting in this seat can only see about half of the white board on the far wall.

This is a picture of the desk/table area in the Biology classroom where students sit during class. These tables are used for labs and for daily classwork.

This picture shows the emergency chemical shower at the back of the chemistry classroom. Notice, there is no drain to capture the water and send it out of the building.

This picture shows the eyewash station in the chemistry classroom. This works by opening up the cabinet, pulling the device out of the cabinet, and turning on the water. Notice there is no place for the water to drain.

This picture shows the separation between the classroom portion of the chemistry classroom and the lab portion of the classroom. This side of the lab tables is not usable because there is not enough space due to the desks in the area.

This picture shows the south wall of the chemistry classroom. The paint does not stick well to this wall due to excessive moisture.

This picture shows the narrow aisles between student desks in Mr. Cook’s room. The student desks in this room are wall to wall with aisles that are all about 16 inches wide.

This picture shows the distance between the baseline and the brick wall at the north end of the gym. This distance measures about 23 inches. Notice there is some padding on the wall in the lane area, but the rest of the wall does not have any padding.

This picture shows the distance between the out of bounds line and the steps on the east side of the gym. The distance between the out of bounds line and the step is about 11 inches.

The width of the bottom step is 7 inches. Today’s standards call for a minimum step width of 10 inches. This presents a safety concern for everyone going up and down this step. The height of this step is also more than the recommended 7 ¾ inches.

• This picture shows the distance between the out of bounds line and the stairs on the east side of the gym. This distance measures about 24 inches.

• Over the years many athletes and officials have tumbled down these stairs.

• This picture shows the distance between the out of bounds line and the brick/concrete wall on the east side of the gym. This distance measures about 18 inches.

• Spectators who sit on the bottom row of bleachers will have their knees and feet in the court of play at times.

This picture shows the boys restroom that is located on the main floor of the Junior High closest to the gym. This restroom is used for all activities in the gym and it is used during football games as well. This restroom has not been updated since it was built in the early 1960’s.

This new art area is about twice the size of the current Art Building.

The Special Education Suite would allow us to concentrate all of our services in one area to better serve our students.

This slide also shows the proposed new restrooms for the stadium and the gym areas as well as a new concession area. The drawing does not show a proposed patio that would make the restrooms and concessions accessible from inside and outside as needed.
