In both its pure, elegant aesthetic and its excep-tionally rened prole, the new Tonda 1950 meetsthe highest standards in terms of comfort and read-ability: a return to the basics which dene a trueclassic. The Tonda 1950 reinterprets the very essence of

the Parmigiani style: its prole. Slender, ner, it isthe perfect showcase for the brand's iconic signa-ture - the four lugs, round and ergonomic. In rosegold or white gold, the Tonda 1950 is the new,extra-at classic model featuring the key markersof time - hours, minutes and small seconds.

The 12 Parmigiani house calibres will be com-pleted by a component essential for the rigourousand manifold exploration of the facets of time: theextra-at self-winding movement. With a diameterof 30 mm (13 inches) and a thickness of just2.6 mm, the new PF 700 movement allows numer-

ous interpretations of the aesthetic. In time, a datefunction will be added to the calibre, with its in-tegration already planned so as to not disturb thedelicate prole of the Tonda case, just 7.80 mmthick and 39 mm in diameter. With an autonomyof 42 hours, the movement has an off-centeredmicro-oscillating weight in platinum 950. Indicatingthe hours, minutes and small seconds, the graphiteor white grained dial displays its twelve time zoneindexes with understated grace. The principle be-hind its sophistication? fundamental beauty withoutinterfering with the time.

Despite the delicacy of its prole, the movementstill offers the nest haute horlogerie nishes youwould expect from Parmigiani, and ones which veryfew brands would apply to such a mechanism. Thenickel silver main plate is sand-blasted, circular-grained and then rhodium-plated. The bridges aresand-blasted, rubbed-down or "Cte de Genve"

decorated, then beveled by hand and, nally,rhodium-plated. Also note the attractive nish ofeach wheel, beveled, sunk, circular-grained on bothfaces, then gilded before cutting.

The high standard of nish on each component isthe result of a unique dovetailing of the differentcentres of competence that make up the ParmigianiManufacture (The Foundation Watch making Manu-factures), ensuring that each calibre produced isof the very highest quality. The movement and theentire exterior of the new Tonda 1950 are createdentirely in-house, right up to the indexes on the

    dial.

The watch making skill inherent in the Tonda 1950,a slim, understated model, is alsoexpressed in the delicacy ofits details.

    FOCUS of SWFL 2011 25

The 2012 SLK55 AMG is already the third generation of the exclu-

sively dynamic Roadster model made by AMG. It all started in

2001 with the SLK32 AMG. Its supercharged AMG V6 engine with

a displacement of 3.2 liters produced 349 hp and maximum torque

332 lb-ft as such, the SLK32 AMG was the most powerful vehicle

    among the competition.

At the end of 2004 this was followed by the SLK55 AMG.With its AMG 5.5-liter V8 engine, which developed 355 hpand 376 lb-ft of torque, it also took the lead in its segment. No

other vehicle in this class offers a large-displacement eight cylinder

engine - and Mercedes-AMG has remained consistently true to this

philosophy with the successor model. The new 2012 SLK55 AMG will

celebrate its U.S. market launch in early 2012.

The 2012 Mercedes-Benz SLK55 AMG is the most powerful SLK of

all time. Its new AMG 5.5-liter V8 engine featuring cylinder shutoff

combines the ultimate in performance with the lowest possible fuel

consumption. With a peak output of 415 hp and maximum torque

of 398 lb-ft, the 2012 SLK55 AMG is poised to outperform all of its

direct competitors. High-performance driving is ensured thanks to

the AMG sports suspension with Direct-Steer system, Torque Vector-

ing Brakes and 3-stage ESP, as well as the AMG high-performance

braking system. The 2012 SLK55 AMG will arrive in U.S. showroomsin early 2012.

Forming part of the third-generation of the SLK launched in June,

the new AMG model catches the eye at first glance: distinctive AMG

light-alloy wheels, exclusive AMG body styling with AMG spoiler lip

and two chrome-plated twin tailpipes at the rear complement the

classic roadster proportions, while adding a distinct athletic touch.

The expressive design of the 2012 SLK55 AMG is both eye-catching

    and unmistakable.

The SLK55 AMG is the perfect embodiment of the new AMG brand

claim of "Driving Performance": in the compact high-performance

Roadster segment there is nothing to compare to its combination

of tangible driving dynamics, superior sportiness, unique high-

technology and low fuel consumption. The SLK55 AMG accelerates

from zero to 60 mph in 4.5 seconds, and reaches a top speed of 155

    mph (electronically limited).

Helping to set new fuel efficiency standards for V8's, the 5.5 liter

engine combines low consumption figures with superior power

delivery and the typical exhaust growl which only a large-displace-

    ment eight-cylinder engine can produce.

In line with its "AMG Performance 2015" strategy, the new V8

engine continues to reduce both the fuel consumption and emis-

sions of new models over the next few years - while reaching new

heights with the central brand claim of "Driving Performance". At

the same time, AMG is also demonstrating its social responsibility

    with the M152 engine.

Mercedes has not only improved performance of the 2012 SLK55

AMG, but also improved a combination of advanced technologies.

New standards of safety DISTRONIC PLUS, a proximity control sys-

tem automatically maintains a set distance from the vehicle ahead,

braking the SLK55 AMG to a stop if necessary and then accelerating

the Roadster again. Advanced management systems, further con-

tribution to fuel economy and sound. Two rear silencers has a flap

which is variably activated on a logic controlled basis depending on

the driver's power requirement and the engine speed.

Functional, stylish and high-quality, the SLK55 AMG is reminiscent

of its bigger brother, the SLS AMG Roadster. With more raw power

and better fuel consumption, Mercedes-AMG engineered a winner!

Whether you want a little something to satis-fy your sweet tooth or a sandwich and salad to tameyour appetite, you can count on a truly authenticItalian experience at DOLCE & SALATO Italian foodboutique.

The charming transplanted slice of Italy is locat-ed in Naples Florida within strolling distanceof one of the best beaches on the gulf coast andhappens to be nestled in the the historic downtowndistrict along the upscale and popular Fifth AvenueSouth. The clean, crisp and modern interior of theboutique has a comfortable cafe/deli style layoutwhich includes a well equipped exhibition food preparea surrounded by display cases full of some verytempting offerings, a bar which features coffees, wines and a selection of imported waters and beers.Inside, well lit accommodating multi-use tables areoften occupied by dinners and the occasional FreeWi-Fi user but I gravitate toward the exterior seatingas I nd the atmosphere of the courtyard and streetside tables very inviting and relaxing.

You can release your inner chef with the exten-sive selection of authentic Italian products offered

or customize a culinary gift basket for someone andchoose from a great selection of wines, cheeses, olive oils, pastas and more. Beginning at four o'clockeach day happy hour includes complimentary tast-ings from the menu and during one such tasting had a chance to talk with owner/operators AgostinoNastasi and Natascia Marchesi and here is what

learned about the history, philosophy and mission ofthis newly launched endeavor.

The two partners are both from Italy and sharethe same passions for food and both have extensivebackgrounds in the food and beverage service indus-try. Natascia's parents owned and operated a restaurant in Italy which inspired her culinary acumen anddid her sommelier studies in Italy. Agostino's foodand beverage experience includes opening and operating four restaurants in Manhattan. I commentedon how good the consistent presentation of the foodwas and Agastino reminded me that "You eat with

your eyes rst." Offering the best food products imported from Italy is only part of the new businesscharter. Serving fresh quality dishes that make a vi-sual impact is obviously of the utmost importanceto the two entrepreneurs and it shows in every dishthat goes out to every customer. The displays ofcandies, cakes and pastries are tantalizing and thecold cut and cheeses are arranged like works of artin a refrigerated glass museum. FOCUS of SWFL 2011 2

    By Scott Black

At the age of 48, the Porsche 911 Carrera is younger than ever:

completely redesigned generation of the sports car icon is stepping

into the limelight with its flat, stretched silhouette, exciting contours

and precisely designed details, yet from the very first glance it

remains unmistakably a 911. True to the 911 tradition, the distinc-

tive Porsche design language with its tendons and muscles exudes

    power and elegance.

The new 911 doesnt just offer better longitudinal dynamics, how-

ever, but top performance at an unprecedented level in terms of

transverse dynamics as well. In addition to the longer wheelbase,

the greater agility, precision and driving stability are based, among

other things, on the wider front track, the new rear axle and new

electro-mechanical power steering. Depending on the model, there

are other standard or optional active control systems available as

well that further enhance the driving dynamics. That is especially

true for the Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control (PDCC) active roll

stabilization system, available for the first time on the 911 Carrera S.

Seen from the front, the eye is drawn to the 911s trademarkwide-arched wings. They emphasize the wider front track, sothat the new 911 Carrera models sit even more solidly on the road.

The remodeled exterior mirrors are accommodated on the upper

edge of the door and not as before on the mirror triangle. Not only

is this aerodynamically advantageous, it also emphasizes the new

design line and visual impression of width.

With a all-new, lightweight body is an intelligent aluminium-steel

construction. It is responsible for a significant proportion of the

weight reduction. Combined with significantly greater rigidity,

Aerodynamic optimization including a wider, variably extending

rear spoiler enabled the new 911 Carreras lift to be reduced yet

further while retaining a very good CD value.

To complement the modern exterior design, the Porsche designers

created an interior, the architecture of which takes its cue from the

Porsche Carrera GT. The driver is now even more closely integrated

with the cockpit thanks to the centre console rising up to the front

with the high-mounted shift lever or gear selector located especially

close to the steering wheel in typical motorsport fashion. Classic

Porsche elements are also to be found inside, as they are on the

outside: the instrument cluster with five round instruments one of

them a high resolution multifunction screen, the central rev counter

and the ignition lock to the left of the steering wheel.

Setting the standard in its class, as it has for generations, the new

911 Carrera and Carrera S raise the performance and efficiency bar

yet another notch. Fuel consumption and emissions are up to 16

per cent lower compared with its predecessor. Among other things,

this is achieved by systems and functions such as auto start/stop,

thermal management, electrical system recuperation, the worlds

first seven-speed manual transmission and in conjunction with the

Porsche-Doppelkupplungsgetriebe (PDK) sailing as it is called. The

new electro-mechanical power steering offers not only Porsches

typical precision and feedback but also helps to increase efficiency

    and reduce fuel-consumption.

It has therefore been possible in the new model to extend yet fur-

ther the span of apparently contradictory attributes such as perfor-

mance and efficiency, sportiness and everyday practicality that has

always typified the Porsche 911. That makes the 911 Carrera more

    of a 911 than ever.

    Tradition meets modernity

CrossFit Gulf Coast is the only training centerin Sarasota that is both a Certified Under-ground Strength gym and a licensed, affiliated

CrossFit gym. The owner, Frank DiMeo, is a fitness

advocate, experienced trainer, author and speaker.

Frank has over 25 years of martial arts experience,

10 years in strength & con-

    ditioning. CrossFit is defined

    as constantly varied functional

movements performed at highintensity using elements of

    weight training, sprinting, and

    gymnastics. It is the fastest

    growing fitness community

    worldwide.

    This authentic workout offers

    opportunities and techniques

    such as Olympic lifts, rope

    climb, tire flipping, kettlebells,

    bear crawl and chain pushups.

    The techniques are of high

intensity and you will have to

    be closely interviewed for the

    opportunity to work under

    Franks supervision and exper-

    tise; since the membership is

    purposely limited to insure

    high quality. CrossFit gyms are

    emerging because they offer a

more essential type of workout system that is ben-

eficial to anyone who wants to work the total body.

If you look at a picture of me in 2008, you will see

a notable difference, says Chris Manco, a member

of 3 years and recently an apprentice trainer.

CrossFit training is attracting many women as

well. The gym appeals to men and women as it

gives a sense of accomplishment. Shellie a mem-

ber at CrossFit Gulf Coast for six months drives

an hour to take striking classes and participate

in the (WOD) Workout of the Day. Her favorite

class is the underground strength. I really like

it a lot she says. Shellie has tried Yoga, Pilates

and Nia Dance but finds that

    the underground workout

    at CrossFit Gulf Coast works

best at building strength andconfidence. Other women

such as TJ Byxbee, a Marine

    Corp veteran, and Sue DiMeo

    are avid members at Cross-

    Fit Gulf Coast. The women

who come here get a great

    benefit. Not only mentally but

    physically says Shellie. The

    misconception about under-

ground gyms is that it is only

for men but many women joinbecause they tend to get more

    out of it.

    CrossFit Gulf Coast allows you

to be the athlete you need to

become or is for anyone who

    wants the exercise where your

body trains to be one unit

Fifty-four percent of men focus on planning for their financial

health at least once a week, compared to only 42% of women,

according to a Genworth survey released today that evaluates

consumers' attitudes on financial wellbeing and a balanced life.

Despite this, the survey found that more women than men feel

financial wellbeing are important to maintaining a balanced life.

"We found it interesting that those who said they need financial

wellbeing to maintain a balanced life particularly women are

less likely to spend time focusing on financial planning," said

Wendy Boglioli, national Genworth spokesperson, caregiver and

1976 Olympic gold medalist. "Living well now and in retirementrequires a balance between being both financially sound and phys-

ically fit. These factors are often overlooked due to busy lifestyles."

Additional research suggests that having financial peace of mind

in retirement is becoming a more important financial goal than

accumulating as much wealth as possible, and that as people age

financial peace of mind becomes a greater priority.(1) This latest

research validates that there is a link between one's view of their

financial wellbeing and overall physical wellbeing.

Women & Achieving a Balanced Life

The notion of achieving a balanced life can often seem like an

impossible goal for women who are juggling the competing

priorities of family, career and caregiver. "The principles of achiev-

ing a balanced lifestyle are consistent with those I adopted to

prepare for the Olympics," says Boglioli. "Like preparing for the

Olympics, exercise routines must change and develop with input

from coaches and discussions about what works. Creating your

plan for financial wellbeing starts with a conversation between

you and loved ones and develops over time to a written plan that

    can change as necessary."

Boglioli offers guidance on how to manage, based on her first-

hand experience in balancing each of these multiple roles:

    Have a written plan:

o Talk to a financial professional to establish a framework: Anadvisor can ask the right questions to help you understand your

current situation and set achievable, realistic financial goals.

    Work out for the brain:

o Physical activities provide extraordinary benefits to brain func-

tion. Understanding that exercise is good for the brain as well

as the body can be a motivator to participate in regular physical

    activity to support overall wellness.

health that respondents said contribute to a balanced life

include family, friends, spirituality and intellectual outlets.

According to the survey, older respondents, 55 and over,

were more likely to view financial wellbeing as a necessity

for a balanced life, with more than 77% saying it is needed

    for a balanced life:

Those between 18-24 are more likely (58%) to take time

levels below $75,000 identifying financial wellbeing as

    needed for a balanced life.

Over 70% of individuals making over $50,000 say they

feel good about their ability to manage the balance of

physical and financial stress, while 61% or less of individuals

below $50,000 in household income agree.

Households making less than $25,000 are most likely

to feel like they need help but don't know where to get

it (21% of respondents). 15% or less of all other income

    groups feel the same way.

    Household Size

Respondents in larger households say that worries over

their personal financial situation have an impact on their

health. This compares to smaller households, which are

more likely to feel good about their ability to manage and

    balance physical and financial stress.

66% of respondents with households that have three or

more members say worries over their personal financial

situation has an impact on their health, while less than 58%

of respondents with one or two household members agree.

"Baby Boomers are a generation of participators, but we

Providing for your loved ones is the primary reason people establish a Last Will and Testament. But, inaddition to a Last Will, a Living Trust offers greater exibility and benets. It allows you to keep your af-fairs private, as well as avoid the hassle and expense of numerous court proceedings, including probateadministration, guardianship, conservatorship, and Will contests. With a Living Trust, you transfer title to your property from your name to the trustee of your Living Trust, which can be you or someone else chosen by you. You control your trust and its assets. The fact thatyour Living Trust would own your assets has little, if any, impact on your daily life. You can also change orrevoke the Living Trust at any time.

A Living Trust has become an effective estate planning tool for:

Taking care of loved ones who have mental or physical impairments, addictions or lack of investment experience; Motivating and rewarding your heirs to make smart life decisions; Handling complex family situations, such as second marriages andunmarried couples; Creating exible plans to carry out your wishes once you or a lovedone has advanced in years and needs home health care or nursinghome care; and

Taking care of your pet if you become incapacitated or are no longeralive.By having a Living Trust, you will be assured that your wishes are carried out during and after your life-time. This will also allow you to provide added benets to those you care about the most. Establishing aLiving Trust could be your greatest act of love.

The key is to balance your personastyle and still allow the versatility for that cold chill thatpops up now an then.

As it begins to cool, youll begin to reevaluate whats inyour closet. Knowing what you wear speaks volumes

about your style, taste and personality. It should be atthe top of your list, but shouldn't be something thattakes work to accomplish. Your style should be easy andfun. Of course while maintaining that look and a wellbalanced checkbook allows you to rope in some of thebiggest names by what you buy now and love forever.

Every woman needs a little drama in her fall ward-robe, something ultra-stylish that increases wearability without losing that fashionable are. It's aboutevolving your items into the next season. You give some-thing you've loved and worn a new life by wearing it with

something new. It is best to update, not redo your ward-robe. Taking a blouse and bringing it together with anearth-tone skirt and tropical wrap is one possible way.

A soft blouse is an elegant addition, available in beautiful solids and richprints. With or without a necktie it pairs well with everything, its the per-fect choice to layer under a vest or jacket. Hemlines have become one ofthe hottest choices for a slim and dened waist paired with high platformheels keep the look feminine and sophisticated. A timeless handbag addsa perfect nishing touch with softly structured satchels and saddle bagsinspired by authentic riding tact have an equestrian elegance for almostany occasion. Made from rich saddle brown leathers and exotic skins speak

to the understated luxury of the season.

Build a wardrobe that works, as this becomes part of your style. You shouldthoughtfully consider every single piece and ask if you can wear this in at least

two situations (work, weekend or evening) and will it pair with at least one or twoother items in my wardrobe?

Fabric choices are very important; something lightweight and airy, maybe light-weight chambray denim for more casual pieces or tropical wool, the weave ismore open and looks rened. Cotton is breathable than other fabrics, removingmoisture and heat away from your skin to keep you cool and dry. Warm shadesof orange, amber and green are trends for fall, but they're not dark colors, ei-ther, so they t into a variety of seasonal regions. Stylish items don't have to belimited to a single season, and it's those more lasting looks that will transition

into the upcoming season. Be it a dress, skirt, blouse or jacket.

Are you color cautious? Then maybe a bright hued handbag or dark print withbold accent colors is a stylish choice. Bold shades of emerald, indigo and scarlet

add a colorful edge to the season. Either contrasted with black or worn as a colorblocked Mondrian-inspired outt, the look is undeniably modern.
