The school vegetable and herb garden is growing very well. A big thank you to the Watterson family for donating compost, potting mix and garden beds. We appreciate Adrian’s (our General Assistant) hard work in transferring all the garden beds and worm farm to a safer location. He also erected the dome shade screens. Also thank you to Mrs Baxter for sourcing and ordering the screens and gardening gloves.
PREMIER’S READING CHALLENGE AT THE LIBRARY The Premier’s Reading Challenge has commenced and it has been exciting to see lots of students participate in 2018. Many have been borrowing these books during their class library time and before school. 625 new titles were added to the list this year. The complete list and further details are at:
www.premiersreadingchallenge.nsw.edu.au
Each student participating is required to have a permission note signed by their
parent/ caregiver and can enter the challenge free of charge. Notes have been
given out to all classes and if your child hasn’t received one yet they can be
collected from either the school library or office. I would like to thank everyone
who has supported the challenge so far and for recognising the benefits that our
students derive from reading for enjoyment.

As we come to the end of a very busy term I'd like to thank all the wonderful parents, grandparents and community members who give up their time to volunteer for our P&C and school. Without your help we wouldn't be able to pay for essential equipment and upgrades to our school. It isn't possible to give you a date for when our backfield will be upgraded as the work can only commence once the new access and ramp from High Street is complete. We are as frustrated as everyone by the situation but we have no control whatsoever over the process. Nevertheless, all funds that we are able to raise before the work starts will go towards getting as much of the backfield lain with artificial turf as possible. Our final fundraiser for this term is the disco on Thursday night. We will be selling pizza slices, hot dogs, donuts, chips, drinks and glow bands. We desperately need helpers for both of the discos. If you can help at one or both of the discos please message me on 0423 036 697. Our final P&C meeting of the term is tonight (Monday 9 April) at 7pm in the staffroom. The school's new Student Wellbeing Officer, Greg Masters, will be there to give us an insight into the pastoral care work he is doing within the school. BRISBANIA PUBLIC SCHOOL SPRING FETE
Hello Parents and Guardians My name is Lindsay and I have the privilege of coordinating the Spring Fete this year, which will be held on Saturday 22 September. We need lots of help to make the fete a fun day for our fabulous kids, teachers and community. There will be more information coming out in the near future about the fete, but for now I wanted to share the idea of our monthly giving to the fete. We have lots of fun ideas and we need your help. As you will see from the list below we are asking the whole school to get behind the stalls by donating something small. As we get closer to the fete there will be individual class needs, which we will let you know about. It is going to be a day full of wonderful stalls and exciting activities for all ages to enjoy. Your contribution will make it all the more successful. Be sure to put the date in your calendar and on your phones! I look forward to meeting lots of fabulous helpers. APRIL Clean and Empty Small Plastic Milk Bottles with Lids (Found in Party or Dollar Shops). Coloured Hair Spray. MAY Lucky Dip Prizes – e.g Marbles, Toy Car, Pen, Pencils, Erasers, Mini Notebook, Toy Jewellery, Stickers, Toy Soldiers. Dear Parent/Guardian
This year we are holding our Spring Fete on Saturday 22 September. Without the fantastic support of our school community we would be unable to make it a success.
We are looking for one stall coordinator from each class to help plan, organize and manage the stall with the support of your class teacher and a band of helpers from the other class parents. As the lead coordinator for one of our stalls your role would be to:
Liaise with the class teacher on all aspects of the stall.
Organize volunteers to run the stall on the day. A roster of approximately five people during the course of the day is a good idea and means everyone gets to enjoy the fete..
Work out what equipment and resources your stall will need.
Find businesses that will donate what you need.
Stall set up and clear down (first to arrive, last to leave)
My name is Lindsay Ivins and I’m the fete coordinator on behalf of the Brisbania P&C. My mobile phone number is 0451 210 028 please feel free to contact me if you have any questions. Could you please complete the slip below and return to your fabulous class teacher as soon as possible, so that I can contact you as necessary. Please note that most contact is via email.
Suggestions for stalls are: face painting, plaster painting, sand art in a bottle, coloured hair spray/nail painting & tattoos, lolly/chip and popcorn, drinks, books/games & clothes, lucky dip, fresh fruit, feathers in hair, bbq and a plant stall. If you would be interested in organizing one of these stalls or any other fun ideas can you please fill out the form below. Thank you so much for all your help to make this a great day.
