UberEATS partners with some of the finest local restaurants that are committed to providing high-quality meals that meet stringent food safety standards. These are licensed restaurants who prepare and pre-package all meals and handoff to drivers that deliver with UberEATS during meal service. Delivery drivers with UberEATS are equipped with temperature controlled containers and are offered guidance on best practices to preserve food temperature throughout the service window of 11am to 2pm. This is truly on-demand delivery and so very little time spent in car. Food thats ordered hot will be delivered hot and food thats cold will be delivered cold. All meals that appear on the UberEATS platform are packaged in food safe containers and in bags so drivers do not handle food.

The food is prepared and pre-packaged at the partnering restaurants and provided to drivers during service and service prep. There are specific food temperature standards; they vary by dish.

What kind of equipment is used to keep meals cold or warm?

All of our meals are served chilled. We use commercial refrigerators, thermoelectric coolers and ice packs to maintain the items at less than 40F.

How many meals are taken out at a time?

The number of meals we transport varies. Our meals are kept in a temperature-controlled environment before, during and after the delivery process.

  • Are the meals placed in the car before or after an order is placed?

Both, we offer pre-ordering as well as on-demand ordering. We are open between the hours of 11-2pm and 5-8pm. During these hours our meals are in thermoelectric coolers. The meals are kept in commercial refrigerators at all other times.

How long is a meal kept in a vehicle typically? Is there a maximum time allowed?

We use thermoelectric coolers with additional ice packs to keep our meals at consistent temperatures. Our delivery shifts are 3 hours, so meals are kept in the coolers for no longer than 3.5 hours. When the meals are not in coolers, they are kept in commercial refrigerators.

As long as food items are kept at 40 degrees Fahrenheit or less, there is not a maximum holding time. The Texas Food Establishment Rules require that food items never remain inside the Temperature Danger Zone (41 degrees Fahrenheit to 135 degrees Fahrenheit) for more than 4 hours.

Do you have temperature standards for meals for delivery? What are they?

Yes, our meals are maintained at less than 40F.

Do vehicles take out multiple meals at one time?

    Yes.

What kind of permits or city inspections do you have/need? Are they necessary?

We currently hold a Food Enterprise Permit, which is a permit issued by the City of Austin Health and Human Services Department. This permit is necessary for operating a food-related business. In accordance with the City of Austin Health Department, we are inspected twice per year.

Where are the meals prepared? By whom?

Our meals are prepared in a licensed shared commercial kitchen, by chefs who hold current Food Manager Certificates.
