Steps:1. Insert new needle. Thread top with white (or similar) embroidery thread. Thread bobbin with 60 weight bobbin thread.

2. Hoop tear away stabilizer.

3. Secure the towel to the tear away stabilizer. You can do this with a fabric spray adhesive, fabric glue pen or clear adhesive tape. I like to use tape to secure the towel to the tear away stabilizer. Roll out a piece of clear tape. Overlap the ends with the adhesive side facing out. Place on the top and push down to secure in place. Repeat with a second piece of tape onto the bottom of the tear away stabilizer.

4. Choose embroidery area. Mark embroidery area with a cross hair with a pin or marking pen as desired. Place the towel, right side up. Place the center of the towel over the center of the hoop. Note: I didn’t use a marking pen or pins to find the center, I just used the lines of the towel and found a general area for “Center”.

5. Place the Paperback fusible web to the wrong side of the Heart appliqué material. Press. Remove paper and discard. This will leave the wrong side of the Heart appliqué with a layer of fusible web.

Steps:9. Insert hoop into machine. Sew Stitch #3 and #4, the football stripes and laces.

10. Remove hoop from machine and place on flat surface. *Do not remove materials from hoop*. Place a piece of clear wash away stabilizer over the entire heart football area. Secure with clear tape on the four corners. This clear stabilizer will help keep the thick uneven pile of the waffle weave kitchen towel smooth for the final satin stitching.

11. Insert hoop into machine. Sew Stitch #5, the final satin stitching.

12. Remove hoop from machine and remove all tear away stabilizer, wash away stabilizer and any tape.

Steps:13. Press the appliqué, following manufacturers settings from the fusible web. This will adhere the heart appliqué to the towel. Use a pressing cloth as desired. Note: If using polyester thread, reduce the heat of the iron to medium. This will prevent the thread from melting and still ensure the fusible to apply properly. If/when polyester thread is pressed on high heat setting, it can melt and become shiny.

14. Wrap up a few for your next football party as a hostess gift!!
