ENGINE PROTECTION EQUIPMENT PTY LTD was founded way back in 1970 by

H.J. (John) Deetman. John was a well known and liked local businessman having owned petrol stations

along Canning Hwy through East Fremantle.

After retiring from his service stations, John saw a niche in the diesel engine protection industry and

decided to distribute well known brands from his residence’s carport in East Fremantle. In 1976, EPE

became a family affair with John’s son, Peter, taking an interest in the company and the new father/

son team decided to expand to the new industrial area of Norma Rd, Myaree. By 1978, John’s other

son founded Exhaust Fabricators (WA) which operates to this day alongside EPE with each company

complementing the other’s products and services.

Under new management, the Deetman family have expanded the business to new, custom built

premises in Phoenix Industrial Park. The new premises on Sudlow Rd, Bibra Lake was completed at

start of 2017 and we look forward to offering the same old fashioned good service to our customers

from a modern, easier to access facility. With the new premises having more than triple the storage

space, new distributorships have also been awarded to EPE from the world’s largest and most trusted

engine protection component manufacturers.

Hewitt Multi-Alarms are designed to protect engines

from low oil pressure, high coolant temperature and

low coolant level. All models can utilise existing

pressure and temperature switches and most coolant

level sensors when available for lower cost and ease

Step 1. ENGINE LOCATIONEngines located at or below the loaded water line (LWL) require some type of a lift

muffler, (Vernalift). Engines located aft or mid ship and above the LWL can utilize a

muffler of the Vernatone family.

Step 2. EXHAUST SYSTEM SIZE (Diameter)The muffler nd accompanying fittings must be large enough to carry the cooling water

and gases through the system without creating back pressure in excess of the engine

manufacturer’s recommendations.

Step 3. NOISE REDUCTIONMuffler size and internal design will determine the amount of noise reduction

achievable in a given installation. Larger mufflers normally provide better silencing than

small mufflers. Space limitations for installations will often determine the size and type

of muffler that can be used.

Step 4. EXHAUST SYSTEM SIZEThe size of the wet marine exhaust muffler is determined by the engine size (H.P.) and

the engine manufacturer’s allowable back pressure. Diesel engines are particularly

sensitive to back pressure.

Crankcase blow-by is produced when combustion gases are blown passed the piston rings into the

crankcase. As these blow-by gases pass though the crankcase, they become contaminated.

Crankcase Ventilation Filters remove these contaminants so the exhaust can then be allowed to vent to:

OPEN CIRCUIT - The exhaust from the outlet is vented to atmosphere

Fluids are constantly exposed to water

and water vapour while being handled

and stored. Water can also get into the

system via worn cylinder and actuator

seals, or through reservoir openings.

Using a Par-Gel water removal element is an effective way of removing free water contamination

from your hydraulic system. It is highly effective at removing free water from mineral-base and

synthetic fluids.
