Registering for the Online Service (Without a Government Gateway Account) This document is designed to guide you through the steps necessary to register for the VOA’s Online Service if you do not already have a Government Gateway account. Click “continue”.

Enter your own name here and email address. Do not enter your business name.

Click “Continue”.

If you are new to this service and do not already have a Government Gateway account then select “No” and “No” for these two questions and continue following this guide.

If you have an existing GovernmentGateway account, select “No” and “Yes” for these two questions, click “Continue”, then go straight to Step 4 of this guide.

Complete this section with theinformation relevant to yourcircumstances and then select“Add Property”.

If you have a copy business rates bill then select “I have a business rates bill” and click “Continue”. If you are using an alternative document to verify your property then select “I don’t have a business rates bill”.

Click “Choose a file to upload” and navigate to the document you are using to verify your property and upload.

Once you have uploaded the rates bill click “Confirm”.

Step 6 of 7: Verifying your property

You need to verify your property by uploading a document that links you to the property. Ideally we recommend that you have a scanned copy of your business rates bill saved to your computer for this section. If you do not have a business rates bill then alternatively you can use a copy of a lease agreement, water rates demand or a utility bill.

Click “Manage properties” to start the process ofauthorising CVS to deal with your challenge.

If you have more than one property/ratesassessment then you will need to repeat steps 5, 6 & 7 for each one. You can do this by clicking on “Go to your dashboard”. Select “Manage Properties” and then the add a property option.
