The Leftover Open
F O R E J R . G O L F
The 9th Annual Leftover Open member golf tournament was once again held at the Pinnacle Peak Country Club the day after Thanksgiving with the proceeds to benefit the Junior Golf Association of Arizona. 72 players participated this year and fun was had by all.
Thanks to Mike Goode, parent of a former JGAA member (Nick Goode) for organizing the event each year, coordinates with the JGAA and spearheads the donations and pledges. Each year the JGAA has several of its junior members volunteer their time to assist with the contests on the designat-ed par three holes. This year JGAA members JC Harvison, Ashley and John Menne, Zack Stodola, Andrew Stineman and Casey Jansen volun-teered. As a result of the efforts of all the Lefto-ver Open contributed $3,300 to the JGAA to assist with their many programs and help with financial assistance to those in need.
We wish to thank the Pinnacle Peak Country Club; General Manager, Brian Straight, Director of Golf, Bill Kuikman and his staff and all the PPCC members for their support of this fun event and giving back to junior golf. A special thank you to John McMillan of the Acushnet Company and his generous donation of Titleist golf balls for the par three contests.
Mike Goode expresses it best when he says "I know it is a lot of fun for everyone and for a great cause".
Thank you to one and all for your continued support of junior golf and especially the Junior Golf Associ-ation of Arizona.
The 2014 Waste Management Phoenix Open will be launching a new fan-friendly "Going for the Green" clos-est-to-the-pin contest, inviting golfers of all ages and skill levels to tee it up for charity and a chance to compete in the 2014 Waste Management Phoenix Open Shot at Glo-ry. Past Shot at Glory winners include New York Post sportswriter Mark Cannizzaro (2008), Tilted Kilt Executive John Reynaud (2009), rock star Alice Cooper (2010), In-sight Executive Ken Lamneck (2012), and country music superstar Dierks Bentley (2013). All proceeds from this contest will benefit The First Tee of Phoenix.
