their grade for ASSISTments accordingly.

THE MATH

the questions wrong!! Look at tutoring.• Do your work on the Worksheet.

• Form groups of two or three. Compare your answers and if they are all the same see if you can come up with a new solution strategy.

Two Stories of Formative Assessment

Look at student work/Data

Student 1• Student 1 made a calculation error.

Student 1 Corrections

Student 2

• Student 2 had no idea how to do the problem.

Student 2 Corrections

Student 3• Student 3 demonstrated no

understanding of how to solve the problem.

Analysis of Assessment 1(The ASSISTment problem set)

• In this example the students did their own analysis. They were told if they were right or wrong. If they were wrong they had to answer scaffolding questions and read hints to make sense of the questions. They could even go back to their own item report to see how well they did.

Question about the data

• On the back of each student sheet tell what you think the student needs now in order to be successful on a problem like this next time.

• What could you do to help these students and the class be successful next time.
