Dear Parents: Great things continue to happen at FZS! As we enter a new month, we’ve been privileged to be a part of a number of exciting events and achievements. National Merit Finalists, outstand-ing athletic, music, and extra-curricular accomplishments, are but a few of the accolades given to South High School. Most recently, two members of our senior class have earned some impressive honors. Seniors Akshat Nadella and Kassie Shepherd have been selected for the 2019 Missouri Scholars 100! This is a statewide program sponsored by the Missouri Association of Secondary School Principals that honors Missouri’s top 100 academic students in the graduating class of 2019. Students nominated for this program have to meet criteria of an “academic decathlon” to demonstrate academic strength. To even be nominated, requirements include a minimum GPA of 3.750, a minimum ACT score of 29 (or SAT score of 1900), be ranked in the upper 10 percent of the class, have taken upper-level courses in mathematics, science, English, and foreign language, have excellent attendance and be involved in school activities (these requirements are the minimum ones for nomination; typically each of the 100 honorees in this group has a GPA at 4.00 and an ACT score of 33 or higher!). CLASS OF 2022

Spring has finally arrived! Get out and enjoy the beautiful weather. Always make time to relax and enjoy life. Fourth quarter can be very busy. It is time to gear up for the EOC tests at the end of the month. Make sure that you get plenty of rest and eat a good breakfast daily to be energized for the tests. I highly encourage you to do the very best on the EOC's. These tests are very important. If you are in need of a tutor, A+

tutoring is available each day after school. You do not need to make an appointment, just drop in. Lastly, be sure to get out and enjoy all the spring activities at South. If there is anything that I can help you with, please stop by my office anytime.

Dr.Ticia Garbarini Assistant Principal

CLASS OF 2020

Hello Class of 2020! It’s amazing how quickly the school year is passing by! Soon May will be upon us and the year will be over. However, with that being said, there is still a lot of school left, so stay on top of your studies. The month of April is a big testing month at South High…ACT and EOC’s! Be sure to do your best if you are taking these tests! Enjoy the warmer weather and be sure to get out and support your

fellow Bulldogs at sporting events!

Mrs. Stephanie Goellner Assistant Principal

CLASS OF 2019 As promised, time is flying by as we steadily approach graduation. Gradu-ation announcements were delivered last week. For those that were unable to pick them up, they are available in our main office to pick up at your conven-ience. Should you need more, you may contact Jostens directly to place your order at 636-207-8780. Relatively soon, I will be emailing everyone with information about cap and gown pick up times. In looking at the month of April, currently Senior class sponsors

are collecting parent permission forms for our upcoming Senior field trip on April 24th. In addition, we currently are accepting applications for senior student commencement speakers, and believe it or not, Prom tickets will go on sale April 29th. All of this information and more may be found by clicking here to keep up to date with upcoming Senior events. As graduation approaches, so does our yearly all night graduation party known as Grad Night. The Grad Night committee has been hard at work fundraising and preparing for this event. The last formal fundraiser for Grad Night will take place at our golf tournament on Saturday, April 6th. If you’re interested in participating or donating to this event, please click here. Grad Night is sure to be an exciting event celebrating the entire Class of 2019. The Grad Night committee is actively seeking volunteers and donations for this event. If you have not been able to help thus far this school year, this would be a great time to help out. With only a month left before final exams, I cannot stress the importance of finishing strong. College acceptance, GPA, scholarships, and of course the ability to graduate all weigh signifi-cantly on academic achievement. If I can assist in any way, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Mr. Joe Serles Assistant Principal

CLASS OF 2021 The Class of 2021 more than any other class in the school will be participating in the End of Course exams in April. These exams are designed to cover the material you have learned this year. Exams are given in Biology, English II, Algebra I, and Government. And if you are a sophomore in Algebra II, you will be taking an Algebra II EOC. Many sophomores may have taken Algebra I or Biology as a freshman, but the majority of sophomores are currently enrolled in these classes. This means that many

sophomores will be taking three exams! It is important to remember that these tests are not only a reflection of how students are doing in the Fort Zumwalt School District, but they also count for 5% of your grade in each class! You don’t want to miss this opportunity to help your semester grade! And, here is the good news! If you score a 70% or higher on any of the exams, you will be exempt from finals! What a great opportunity to raise your grade and be exempt from finals! Attendance is very important during the weeks we give the tests. Please make every effort to be here during the weeks of April 29th and May 8th. If you miss a day of the test, we have to pull you the next day from one of your classes, and then you may get behind in that class. If you have any questions regarding End of Course exams,

you can always come by and see me or ask your teachers.
